I think what makes Bloodsports nanotech also good is that in the comics the character can teleport everything he wants to his hands. So the movie putting a more realistic spin on things while also having the audience see every bit of the tech unfold is great. Even better that we know it's limited and accented by a practical suit.
It could have still been teleported as it just comes from a hidden storage site and still has a limit. However the nanotechnology provides a better visual so I like the change. I also like how he combines smaller weapons to make larger ones.
@unionvsvegeta If you know firearm, you will understand that a gun that can transform itself into 10 other classes of small-arm is MEGA overpowered. He could be shooting a pistol then whips out another nanotech extension and now he has a MANPAD.
imo the tele weapons is significantly more unique then nano tech, and it would give way to using physical props over cg I like the tech, but I want him to evolve to mirror his comic counterpart
I always liked the tech from ultraviolet most. They had these devices they could wear that were like basically pocket dimensions so they could carry whole arsenals inside wristwatches and the weapons also "unfold" or like if she needed to reload it would show bullets coming out of the devices feeding into her guns
The biggest reason I loved his nano tech was that it wasnt infinite and during that last fight, just like with Tony vs Thanos, he is in a losing battle against his resources
I love the concept of the nano weapons. Even more so bc every single one of them were locked and loaded. But bc I'm a simple guy I found it wasteful that he kept ditching his weapons whenever they ran out of ammo instead of just reloading. Dudes got fourteen weapons strapped to him. He could've easily just had a bunch of nano bullet magazines loaded on top of all that. But that's just me.
@@furionmax7824 From a cinematic standpoint, it is possible that Gunn didn't want to show him reloading with nanotech because there was no way to make it look cool and physical, like one would easily be able to with real guns. From an in-universe standpoint, it's probably just because he has no space or time to reload properly. If I'm remembering right, he doesn't just ditch them, too. They get knocked out of his hands most of the time, I think?
@@simj202 reloading due to time is very understandable especially when there's no cover and you got starfish alien face huggers attacking you. A miniscule pause barely a second long can mean death in a fight. But like I said. I'm a simple guy. I like using the same weapon in my loot and shoot games. To me its better to have one weapon with a shit ton of magazines than multiple weapons with one magazine each. But then again it ain't practical if that weapon is taken, lost or destroyed. In bloodsports case he has a weapon for every scenario. And that's why he's the best at what he does.
@@simj202 it makes sense given that he's meant to be an assassin. He's not supposed to be fighting in a war-like situation like they were dropped into, so it makes sense his ammo eventually runs out.
The no your daughter is 16, is one of the best insults/threats. Not only is it confirming that yes she is sending his daughter to prison, but getting a dig in at how distant and bad of a father he is. It’s just perfect, an it makes Waller a perfect monster
I just love how his nanotech feels more grounded and somewhat more comprehensible than most nanotech depictions in movies these days. You see them condensed in separate small pieces that are planted all across his body and when they're activated you know where they're coming from, they don't just spawn from out of the blue. The textures also look more mechanical instead of the usual liquid/holographic mesh we see with other heroes, it feels like a first gen nanotech and I think that's really cool
I wouldn't even call this nanotech, it's more like microtech. His weapons are all just very collapsible which allows him to carry more but that's...not what nanotech is.
@@solidghost1337 .....the real nanotech was showcased in Terminator 2. Anything MCU conjured is fantasy juvenile thoughts of technology. Like the op here said....lights holographic tit bits all around something that's needs to be hard Armor doesn't do favour for logic.
It also helps that these pieces are not infinitely reusable. He has to manually break them back down or they get knocked away from his suit. So he has to be careful when and how he uses his arsenal.
It's tragic how the reputation of Suicide Squad tainted The Suicide Squad. I've had to fight (figuratively) with people to give it a chance because the first one was so bad.
I didn’t even watch the movie when it came out due to all the bad reviews at the time, but soundtrack music was pretty dope tho. Also another complaint i had from the first movie was how they race-swapped Deadshot’s character. Now i used to watch Arrow and the actor who played Deadshot was fucking spot on i thought they were gonna cast him but no they gave it to will smith. Now I love Will Smith as an actor and genuinely kind person (most of the time), but I personally felt he should’ve played Black Spider like the animated Suicide Squad:Arkham Assault movie. The way he acted as Deadshot felt more in tune to Black Spider, a bit cocky/show-off, want to prove he’s better than everyone else imo.
Bloodsport is such a fucking great character, I hate how underrated this movie is. I've seen it at least 9 times since it came out and I am never bored once.
Relating to the point about rules, I feel a very significant aspect that makes Bloodsport's nanotech so much better than that of other heroes is that only his very specific gadgets are nanotech, rather than the entire suit itself.
I love that when he makes the big gun, you realize that he's at the end of the line. Nothing could be bigger, nothing a worse threat--his tech is either a weapon OR armor. If he uses it for offense, he becomes extremely vulnerable, something we see moments later when he is running out of nanites. Also watching him then reach around in desperation to find any last amount of tech...but there's none left, you feel that moment so hard. His best weapon wasn't enough, and that gambit cost him, very nearly, his life. He ends up without offense or defense left, and he just tackles the first person he can to try and go down without giving up. PERFECTO!!!
I feel that the nanotech works, because its feels analog. All the weapons he uses are all just tightly packed and mostly have to be assembled. He also has to reach out and draw them like any other gun. They also aren't full body armor that the characters turn on at any time. I feel this also worked very will with Iron mans glove during civil war and the Iron Man suitcase in Iron Man 2.
@samuellopez479 it was just an expanding suit, but I think the commentary is highlighting it's similarity, that being it's a depletable resource with limitations and more basis in reality.
I feel that a lot of the points in this video could also apply to the science and tech in Pacific Rim. Which also happens to star Elba as a stoic badass leader type.
Knowing the nature of the suicide squad, it's a shame if Bloodsport dies in the sequel. The fact these characters, even the protagonists, don't have plot armor is what makes it so special.
My biggest thing is that after watching Suicide Squad the first time I didn't walk away talking about how good his tech was, it didn't even cross my mind, it was how good the characters were portrayed.
It's Nanologue, it's nanotech but it's not just a blobby nebulous mass of liquid convenience, it's more practical and tied into somewhat tangible mechanics or conventions of machinery. There's visible frames and slides and satisfying clicky motions involved where possible.
It's the equivalent of having a touchscreen interface or a big fat red button/weighty lever. It's just cooler when there's an element of physicality to it.
@@Nefariousbig It's an interesting method that I have been trying to include in my own story, by having the body itself be the "tech." You can make sharp weapons and/or armour with bone sure but if that gets damaged your body is FAR weaker.
If they didn't go for a reboot, it would have been nice to see Henry Cavill's next Superman movie see a team up between him and Bloodsport against Brainiac.
Big thing is that with Tony's nanotech and really every nanotech suit (i.e. Spiderman, BP, etc.), they just have it and then press a button or think it, and boom, it just magically transforms into the suit within a second. With Bloodsport, the suit is all nano-tech, you clearly get to see all of the tech forming. It's less liquid and more solidly contorting into the proper weapon.
Great video. I suppose if Deadshot and Bloodsport do show in one movie, maybe show Deadshot as the better marksman, but Bloodsport has the more versatile gear.
Bloodsport's a better soldier Deadshot's a better assassin Whilst they're both good with guns, there's distinct differences in skillset that mean they have different specialties. I love the idea of the sniper versus the guy with a weapon that's six different weapons at once tbh
I love the nano tech for blood sport. It felt like building blocks to create any weapons you want but you needed to know how to build it. Like Legos and you got to memorize the manuals/formulas. It felt so cool and fun. Definitely needs a video game.
Bloodsport is such an underrated character from DC. He was such an obscure character who became super cool and unique in The Suicide Squad. I’m surprised he wasn’t put into the forefront of DC’s list of character after the movie came out. I hope Idris Elba comes back to play him
actually DC has super cool characters like Bloodsport almost all of them underrated Slade Wilson, Zatanna, Raven, Jinx, Bloodsport, Hal Jordan and Deadshot sould get their own high quality movies/shows with good action and storytelling
A blood sport video in 2023? This is literally perfect timing as I’ve just started getting into him as a character, I had watched the movie before but I didn’t really have a favourite until I rewatched it
Agree with everything here, absolutely loved the movie and his suit really did feel bad ass and it feels like I haven't had that feeling about a suit in a while ya know
The movie is easily my favorite of the DCEU and Bloodsport is awesome. I never get most of these technical critiques honestly, but I do see your points here. Frankly, as soon as I see the poster, I'm usually okay with the effects depending on the genre I'm getting into. I can't wait for more of this though.
@@ez6888 It literally is. Peacemaker's show takes place after the movie, and he wakes up in a hospital and the justice league is seen at the end of the show.
I also like how for the big fireworks gun, Bloodsport had to put the pieces of the gun together instead of like pressing a button on the gun and it extends itself
Same, I was kinda half paying attention while playing on my phone, I just thought it was weapons that folded down to a smaller form factor and expanded when he draws them.
It’s also wonderful that you can tell at the end of the movie he didn’t expect the mission to escalate as much as it has since he’s completely used most of his “ammo” in a sense by the end. Rewatching the scene where him and peacemaker showing off to each other knowing it’s not unlimited makes it funnier knowing he’s wasting so much for a bigger dick contest.
Exceptional video! Never viewed the awesomeness of Elba's Bloodsport and nanotech in such detail! You exceeded my expectations speaking of his character arc!
Way too many people were shitting on this movie, it's literally one of the best superhero flicks of the past 4 years. Also, I cannot get over how well made this film is. The CGI is on-point in almost every shot.
The suicide squad was my favourite movie to come out of 2021 The movie is an absolute masterpiece the characters the score the NANOTECH and I’m glad someone is finally talking about it I still refuse to believe it isn’t as big as it should be
Idris was phenomenal casting for Bloodsport and his nanotech was actually useful for the narrative of the story (i.e. "I use smaller bullets.") and fight scenes. I also would’ve loved for Idris to play Black Manta for Aquaman, I know Yahya Abdul is a good actor but I feel Idris could’ve been more badass for Black Manta but that’s just my opinion.
It's also noteworthy that the suit itself actually *isn't* nanotech for the most part, it just has the collapsed nanotech weapons embedded into it, acting as some additional armor. But apart from the helmet, the actual suit is just a regular combat suit, albeit heavily customized.
That's why I love the Iron spider suit which had three metal legs from Ultimate Spider Man cartoon much more than the movie one. It not only looked cool as hell, it also transformed into a fucking backpack. That was the perfect use of Nanotech for Spider Man, he needs his suit in minimal amount of time and the suit doesn't need much bulk and protection, whereas Stark can alway summon his suits so a Normal human like him shouldn't be using flimsy Nanotech as First and last line of defense.
It's the same reason why we always have to get transformation scene in the Transformers. It's crunchy and grounded while still being fantastic and visually interesting. From a narrative standpoint it allows for the writers and stunt designers to have the hero carrying an entire back of tricks without needing to worry about having your actor carry an arsenal, or somehow taking a trip back to his armory between scenes, or handwaving with an animator's back pocket. Plus you can sell the desperation of the circumstances by taking those tools away from him.
@@FullFatVideos in theaters it didnt do well but in its lifespan its done far better than most. Tge amount of replay it got from viewers is pretty insane
Honestly Iron Man is the only character in the MCU where nanotech actually works like it should, with Spiderman being a distant second. The very first time we saw him use Nanotech was in Civil War as nothing more than a transforming wristband; a proof of concept for Tony to build on. Next time we see it he's developed an entire suit with nanotech that does its job, but has an issue with long-term use since he can't easily refill his nanobots. Then we see him incorporate energy projectors for things like shields and weapons, letting him use his nanotech more sparingly. Ironman's tech always felt realistic because we saw his progression. Every time a new advancement was made, the seeds for that advancement were already visible beforehand. Spiderman is only second place because his nanotech is the direct result of Ironman.
I just want to say, Tony entirely deserves his nanotech suit, because we see the entire development process and design philosophy over the course of fifteen years. Ever since Yinsen died, Tony's been trying to find a way to put the suit on faster and faster, until eventually he could wear the suit 24/7.
As a Marvel fanboy who never feels like DC films really click, I agree with everything you've said. Bloodsport's design was so, damned, groovy. It felt visceral, the sound and weight and movement (from real props) made you almost question if it was CG or really clever practical effects. There was so much thought put into how it is assembled, modified, and structured. And the fact that these are clearly deliberate pieces that are built from specific parts, instead of a nebulous "cloud" like Iron Man's suit, make it feel so much more interesting. For a different film where the weapons are "built" from nanotech, Ultraviolet (starring Mila Jovovich) has really groovy designs. It's a goofy movie, yes, but the way the guns build themselves up (and even reload from "flatspace" storage) is very clever. Also, this was a really well-built and paced video, with good use of editing and entertaining. Thanks!
Great vid man. I loved this film when I saw it in cinema and bloodsport was my favourite aspect of it. He definitely outshines will smiths deadshot tho I would still love for both of them to return at some point
I always loved his weapons because they reminded me of the Sega action shooter Vanquish. The weapon can scan enemy weapons and reproduce them through nanotechnology
As a apprentice sound engineer i LOVE how crisp and mechanical his tech sounds. It makes it feel like every single piece matters in the overall construction
you're very right on all points, but 6:16 where you talk about how they appear, really seeing the engineering of them is so true, it strikes such a good divide between the legendary first iron man suit up, seeing all the technology and nano tech itself, well done!! Another point, what's good with the whole movie compared to almost any marvel disney movie is that the armour looks dirty, muddy, broken at times, it looks like it's really been used, really taken a beating and the use of all of the gloominess in some of the scenes, the desaturation of some of it, it truly looks so realistic, unlike marvel where it's too focused on looking glamourous taking away from the realism of it. suicide squad did so well because it's desaturated, darker in colour, the suits, the characters, they aren't designed to be likable or perfect, but flawed, dirty and realistic. alongside the better realism of the engineering of bloodsport as well as everything else using less cgi than stuff like thor love and war, it looks so broody and mature, unlike a pathetic children's attempt at action. essentially maybe it's too different age ranges, but it being more for teenagers where marvel is toned down for children, you can really see the effect
I can't remember if you mentioned this, but I think the reason why I like it the most is probably because Bloodsports Nano-tech isn't one whole thing like Iron Man, Thor, or Spider-man, instead it's parts of his suit that he has to individually grab, which takes time, which ties into what you said about him being skilled but also defeatable opponent, plus similar to Iron Man's suit having a limoted amount of nano-tech, if he loses those parts off his suit, he's pretty defenceless. It would be cool to see bloodsport and Deadshot in a potential third Suicide Squad film, where, similar to the second film, there are perhaps two teams. Maybe they have to go up against each other, and the one who squad wins gets so many years off their sentence. Will that happen with Smith's reputation at the moment? I'm not sure, as I don't think he's actually been "cancelled," but is just in everyone bad books. Hopefully, he gets his life together because he's genuinely a great actor, and he and Margot Robbie in the first Suicide Squad were the best thing about that film. But I am glad that they didn't recast him. Of course, this was before all the drama, but still, they could have recasted Deadshot. Anyway, I really enjoyed the video of a surprisingly underrated film. Everyone I've talked to or watched has said it's a good film, but no one really spoke about it when it first came out.
Will Smith was never really canceled. Sure he was clowned as a simp but the anger was more directed towards his wife than him. He's actually working on I am Legend 2 with Michael B Jordan rn.
@@wadewillson9220 That's what I mean. He's not really been cancelled, but people seem to be.... avoiding him, and he seems to be working on his own projects. For example, I think that the Apple TV film he did was his own project (I think). But like I said, hopefully, he can recover from this mishap as mostly everyone else has.
They could make a game about how he put superman in the hospital with him going around looking for the kryptonite and in the end it could show Amanda Waller showing up to his cell after he gets caught.
It works in Suicide Squad because of the equipment placed around his body, that we are more convinced that this COULD be possible, whereas the Marvel variety.... feels like magic. Did find it much better in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where Falcon could conceivably has all his equipment stashed away in his armor, so maybe they'll pull back a little.
yeah, there were some big things that really worked in F&TWS, and Falcons suits were definitely part of it. Along with the action scenes, strong casting and acting all around, and some smart inclusions for the supporting cast (namely Isaiah Bradley and Sam's family), there's plenty to love alongside some pandemic-induced stumbles and shortcomings.
I thought this video was gonna be some out-of-pocket opinions, but it turned out you made some super valid points. Connecting the function of the nanotech to the character writing was inspired and really just increased my opinion of this movie all the more. Now I want more Bloodsport too, lol. Cheers OP
I’m fine with nanotech when it fits the character like Ironman where at the end of his story he creates his ultimate suit that can adapt to any situation or with Bluebeetle where the point of his suit is alien and a hyper advanced killing machine and his arc is more learning to control the suit.
Did people dislike this movie when it came out? I've been reading the comments and a lot of people are talking about how this movie was underrated. All I remember was pretty much universal hype and praise, especially because of James Gunn. Was it disliked outside of my corner of the internet? Edit: Also for favorite nanotech hero, can it be comic-book superior Iron Man? He's not my favorite hero, nor my favorite hero who uses nanotech but my favorite use of nanotech. It's technically not nanotech, actually, but a synthetic symbiote that he created, removing its weakness to sound and fire, that basically functions like a mixture of a symbiote, bleeding edge armor, and his classic drone suits with nobody inside
My first time seeing one of your videos, but you definitely earned a sub with this one. The fact that you focused on the positive examples over negative ones is refreshing, specifically for cgi criticism. Plus, you just seemed genuinely hyped about bloodsport! Keep it up
To me what makes nanotech work is the equilibrium between versatility and fragility, I like when it seems weaker than a regular shield or weapon. That's why in infinity war works so well, with chunks of the iron man suit flying off and the remaining suit continuously reconfiguring itself around the character. And with bloodsport is similar, watching how the helmet breaks when he crashes with a wall or how he runs out of weapons. Now in the MCU nanotech is only used to have a helmet that you don't have to carry around when you are not wearing it.
it makes sense. I feel that nanotech should be versatile and strong, but not too strong. It also shouldn't be too durable, as it is just a bunch of tiny parts linked together. Whereas a whole full made suit would be generally more durable, a nanotech suit would have better regenerative capabilities. However if you have both, you could have nanotech repair the normal suit, albeit slower.
I like to imagine that this Bloodsport's power is negated by the nano explosive in his head. And the only weapons he can only use was the weapons that he had when he was captured. Because I would love to see the actor return again with the ability to teleport all sorts of weaponry instantaneously to him.
The nanotech appearing out of nowhere without pressing any button makes sense for someone like Tony Stark The classic iron man suits (2007 - iron man 3) are motorized . He probably has some kind of brain chip or something that sends inputs to the exoskeleton from his brain . So it makes sense he can just turn off his helmet with his mind .
MCU loves using nanotech so much that they retroactively gave it to Janet van Dyne in a flashback in the quantum realm, where she was stranded since 1987
@@FullFatVideos no it's not dumb, and she was wearing regular wasp suit from the flashback scene from ant-man(2015) underneath her clothes just like in ant-man and the wasp.
To me the reason that Bloodsports nanotech look so good is because we actually watch it build, i would compare it to the cgi for watching the transforming of transformers in the first three movies. you really watch each part build and it makes sense, it doesnt look like a metal goop is covering someone one or building something out of thin air.
Bloodsport was the coolest character in this movie, and yet Peacemaker was the one who got his own series. Absolutely CRIMINAL If we never see this character again it'll be a massive disservice
Honestly I love bloodsport nanotech But I prefer the teleportation devices he has to summon his weapons but I hope bloodsport gets himself a series I’m curious how he got the suit and how exactly he went about shooting Superman
I feel like this great flick gets lost in the conversation of really good comic book flicks these last 3 years. Some people say the only good ones we have gotten as of late is Spider-Man: No Way Home or The Batman and I’m just in the back “uh hello. The Suicide Squad. Right here.”
If you handle nanotech the same way the MCU does, it just becomes magic. I'm glad to see they handled Bloodsport's tech well by putting clearly defined limitations and a strong feeling of physicality.
Thors Nanno Tech is more linked to Magic than what Iron-Man Black Panther show us. Edit just think what if when we saw them together Bloodsport told Deadshot, thats not gonna works let me help you, and he merge his nanontech overpowering the weapons for an impossible shot, like killing or penetrating the Shield of Starro the conqueror or one of Darkseid minions
I really like how Bloodsport’s nanotech feels like it bridges the parts/ attachments as he adds more to make bigger guns. The parts he adds on look like the framework and the nanotech blends the parts together.
I don't think anyone is sick of the MCU...we're sick of political messages and agendas taking precedence over the story and we're also sick of the butchering of past characters in order to replace them with "strong female" counterparts. They somehow managed to waste Benedict Cumberbatch...who I believe was the de facto big name after Iron Man and Captain America died. They made Dr. Strange a buffoon. Mark Ruffalo's Banner/Hulk never got the attention and writing he deserved. That man can act as showcased in the 5 minute introductory scene in Avengers 2012. There were surprisingly some good tidbits in Age of Ultron too...but then they just tamed him (with IW dropping the ball on that front). They also made a joke of the smaller, but still great characters like Hawkeye(and let's not forget how they also butchered Vincent D'Onofrio's legendary Kingpin), Black Widow, Wanda, Bucky, War Machine...HULK....and the list goes on. And like that wasn't enough...they also brought over characters like Daredevil and Kingpin from the Netflix shows (that were beyond fantastic...Daredevil is above everything in the MCU story wise IMO) and reduced them to petty jokes. I too hope DC is going to bring a new era of good stories. Gunn has shown that he knows how to intertwine good drama with good comedy, though I do hope not every movie/series will follow that formula. Not all characters are meant for it. If he(and his peers) can separate and identify what characters fit in what category and what type of story they need to mesh with said characters, they're going to succeed. I believe The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are examples that the potential is there.
"Bloodsport, Deadshot, Punchline, Vigilante, Peacemaker, and Catwoman should go on an adventure together; Deathstroke & Bronze Tiger should be their main antagonist, Bronze Tiger & Deathstroke work for Vandal Savage. And have a side narrative that the main team is being hunted by Hawkman & Atom Smasher.".
I think another thing is in the movie (cant speak for the comics) its also said that bloodsport can make anything deadly in his hands. I think its a cool addition to give him so many weapons and not only just weapons, theyre weapons of different calibers and types, sorta playing on the fact that hes a master of all weapons not just good at shooting like deadshot or just having nanotech
This video made me follow! I knew that I loved the nanotech and the CGI but I never understood in comparison with the MCU. I love that he took his mask off physically and just like you said the structures and the weight made Everything feels so much more grounded!
Y'know I heard James Gun was a fan of tokusatsu, so that makes me wonder how much influence the integration kamen riders and their weapons influenced Bloodsport
One thing i loved about black panthers suit was the way it would eat through his clothes. When he put it on, it was a commitment. And i love Bloodsport's. He doesnt have a nano suit, he has a suit with nano tech. It makes it feel more real.
One issue with nanotech in movies is that it often doesn't respect physics with respect to things like gravity or conservation of mass, as though it were a hologram rather than nanotech. So at the end of a piece of nanotech armor disappearing, a chunk of metal is just floating in, and disappearing into, thin air.
I love how all Nano-tech seems to operate on the unspoken logic that it can just form out of thin air. Like there's never any real explanation as to how the full mass of an ironman suit can just fit in Tony's pocket by Endgame.
I couldn't decide who i liked better between blood sport or Deadshot, but this vid and all the details helped me make a choice. Thank you for making this dope ass vid!!
4:05 why does a nanotech gun have screws and ? Does it need the screws to stay together? Are they nanotech too do they screw them selves in ? Can you take in apart with a screw driver ? If you took the scews out would the nanothech not shrink or grow the gun? Just a little detail but I have so many questions? GOD I love this movie.
I love that in the big gun scene the actor reaches for his side first as if he's searching for the nano tech accessory. Such a subtle but amazing thing
I like how nanotech is not a main component in the story not even in the character at all, but it’s the main topic of the video. I like when small and apparently insignificant details are looked at in movies
4:05 the funny thing about that moment is that peacemaker was the one that give bloodsport the advice that smaller bullets can penetrate the center more, and since bloodsport is the only one who can modife the size and shape from his arsenal you could argue he took his advice to take him down, making it an ironic defeat

So the movie putting a more realistic spin on things while also having the audience see every bit of the tech unfold is great. Even better that we know it's limited and accented by a practical suit.

@@furionmax7824 From a cinematic standpoint, it is possible that Gunn didn't want to show him reloading with nanotech because there was no way to make it look cool and physical, like one would easily be able to with real guns.

@@solidghost1337 They're definitely nanotech, in slo mo you can tell the weapons are actually building themselves rather than simply unfolding.
Can't help myself, but it hurts when I start to think of how the ammunition is made.
It's tragic how the reputation of Suicide Squad tainted The Suicide Squad. I've had to fight (figuratively) with people to give it a chance because the first one was so bad.
Yeah it’s such a shame it didn’t do well
I didn’t even watch the movie when it came out due to all the bad reviews at the time, but soundtrack music was pretty dope tho.
@@montenegroafro4454
Yeah, he might be kind, but you should definitely keep his wife's name out of your mouth 😌
The Suicide Squad is a massive step-up, not only for the first one but also, for DCEU as a whole. I pity those who missed it.
First one was ok. Could have been alot better sure but not bad
Bloodsport is such a fucking great character, I hate how underrated this movie is. I've seen it at least 9 times since it came out and I am never bored once.
Bloodsport and the movie are so underrated
Totally agree. I absolutely love this movie and think it’s at least on par with the Guardians movies!
It's truly awesome👏
Bloodsport is the character I've ever seen
Agreed. Great character and the movie is good fun. I've Probably seen it at least 5 times
I thought the iron man case was just a tightly folded suit, not microscopic machines
But you got a good point, that nano glove was pretty cool.
Thats another amazing movie
i hate that the sequel went the way it did and we'll never get a third
Loved it and Idris was brilliant and his relationship with his ‘daughter’
@@dankerbell sequel was absolute trash especially with what they did her character, bad ass co lead to killed in a helicopter
I agree, it just looks cooler when it is more mechanical
Knowing the nature of the suicide squad, it's a shame if Bloodsport dies in the sequel. The fact these characters, even the protagonists, don't have plot armor is what makes it so special.
Yeah but there are characters you know are going to live. It's a question of who though.

One of the best of the last few years, loved it!
Its the best superhero movie of 2021
Starro could have been slightly better but it was a great movie
W my favorite movie too
It's Nanologue, it's nanotech but it's not just a blobby nebulous mass of liquid convenience, it's more practical and tied into somewhat tangible mechanics or conventions of machinery. There's visible frames and slides and satisfying clicky motions involved where possible.
It's the equivalent of having a touchscreen interface or a big fat red button/weighty lever. It's just cooler when there's an element of physicality to it.
@@Nefariousbig It's an interesting method that I have been trying to include in my own story, by having the body itself be the "tech."
You can make sharp weapons and/or armour with bone sure but if that gets damaged your body is FAR weaker.
Bloodsport needs his own movie and that would be radical to see Robert Dubois taking down villains with his nanotechnology
If they didn't go for a reboot, it would have been nice to see Henry Cavill's next Superman movie see a team up between him and Bloodsport against Brainiac.
@@8Andrewman8 , "Facts.".
I would love to see that team up, also reformed peacemaker x Bloodsport
Bloodsport's a better soldier
Deadshot's a better assassin
Whilst they're both good with guns, there's distinct differences in skillset that mean they have different specialties.
I love the idea of the sniper versus the guy with a weapon that's six different weapons at once tbh
I would do anything for a John wick esqe movie with bloodsport, deadshot, and peacemaker
I hope Idris Elba comes back to play him
yeah I'd get so hyped for more bloodsport, although theres so much going on with dc now it will be interesting to see when he'll next pop up

A blood sport video in 2023? This is literally perfect timing as I’ve just started getting into him as a character, I had watched the movie before but I didn’t really have a favourite until I rewatched it
Agree with everything here, absolutely loved the movie and his suit really did feel bad ass and it feels like I haven't had that feeling about a suit in a while ya know
Yeah same I want to see more of it so badly
5:44 if I had a nickel for everytime Idris Elba played a gun slinging anti hero in a major motion picture I’d have two nickels
Bloodsport's arc was epic. That ending with the rat was so fitting
It’s not really apart of the DCEU
@@ez6888 yes it is
@@laughstox3773 It isn’t.
@@ez6888 It literally is. Peacemaker's show takes place after the movie, and he wakes up in a hospital and the justice league is seen at the end of the show.
@@Vergilsjackpot It literally isn’t. It’s been shifted into DCU.
I also like how for the big fireworks gun, Bloodsport had to put the pieces of the gun together instead of like pressing a button on the gun and it extends itself
Bloodsport's nanotech looked so practical that I didn't realize it was nanotech
Same, I was kinda half paying attention while playing on my phone, I just thought it was weapons that folded down to a smaller form factor and expanded when he draws them.
It’s also wonderful that you can tell at the end of the movie he didn’t expect the mission to escalate as much as it has since he’s completely used most of his “ammo” in a sense by the end. Rewatching the scene where him and peacemaker showing off to each other knowing it’s not unlimited makes it funnier knowing he’s wasting so much for a bigger dick contest.
Could he not recapture the tech after the raid?
Exceptional video! Never viewed the awesomeness of Elba's Bloodsport and nanotech in such detail! You exceeded my expectations speaking of his character arc!
Thank you for watching!
Ik this an unpopular take but he's in my top 3 favorite DC characters after this film
Way too many people were shitting on this movie, it's literally one of the best superhero flicks of the past 4 years. Also, I cannot get over how well made this film is. The CGI is on-point in almost every shot.
I agree Bloodsports abilities just look so cool in this movie and it’s just so awesome seeing him build each of them too
The suicide squad was my favourite movie to come out of 2021
The movie is an absolute masterpiece the characters the score the NANOTECH and I’m glad someone is finally talking about it
I still refuse to believe it isn’t as big as it should be
Idris was phenomenal casting for Bloodsport and his nanotech was actually useful for the narrative of the story (i.e.
Glad you stated that Heimdall is still cool. His death got me more than Loki's. But yes, Elba was WAY better off as Bloodsport.
I wish there was a way we could give this movie another chance in theaters because it deserved way more attention.
such a shame it didnt do better
It honestly made the movie for me. Loved seeing how the nanotech weapons worked
it was very satisfying
Thanks!
I thought I was crazy seeing no one praise how cool his suit is when this movie came out!
Hopefully this shines some light on this underrated movie.
James gunn has that magical touch to him honestly🐐💯

you're very right on all points, but 6:16 where you talk about how they appear, really seeing the engineering of them is so true, it strikes such a good divide between the legendary first iron man suit up, seeing all the technology and nano tech itself, well done!!
Will Smith was never a good actor sorry not sorry

Deadshot will slap bloodsport and say keep my daughter's name out your fucken mouth
Because nanotechnology is essentially on the edge of magic.
I thought this video was gonna be some out-of-pocket opinions, but it turned out you made some super valid points. Connecting the function of the nanotech to the character writing was inspired and really just increased my opinion of this movie all the more. Now I want more Bloodsport too, lol. Cheers OP

Me, a sigma, appreciating Bloodsport
Tony's nanotech is badass tbh. I also do like the helicopter version of the suit-up sequence in Civil War
That feels more like the most high tech version of the mechanical suit ups, like the last one of its kind before nanotech took over
5:01 "Practile"? Thats not a word
I like to imagine that this Bloodsport's power is negated by the nano explosive in his head. And the only weapons he can only use was the weapons that he had when he was captured. Because I would love to see the actor return again with the ability to teleport all sorts of weaponry instantaneously to him.
For that he has to have a portable teleportation device with him at all times and the other device at wherever his weapon inventory is.
The nanotech appearing out of nowhere without pressing any button makes sense for someone like Tony Stark
The classic iron man suits (2007 - iron man 3) are motorized .
He probably has some kind of brain chip or something that sends inputs to the exoskeleton from his brain .
So it makes sense he can just turn off his helmet with his mind .
MCU loves using nanotech so much that they retroactively gave it to Janet van Dyne in a flashback in the quantum realm, where she was stranded since 1987
Oh yeah, that’s dumb as hell
@@FullFatVideos no it's not dumb, and she was wearing regular wasp suit from the flashback scene from ant-man(2015) underneath her clothes just like in ant-man and the wasp.

@@FullFatVideos she didn't have nanotech it's the regular wasp suit
Bloodsport is a suit that incorporates nanotech, as opposed to a suit made of nanotech.
Absolutely CRIMINAL

I believe James Gunn says theres plans for more BloodSport so that’s exciting!
I accidentally paused at 0:54 and got Natalie Portman with a nose bandage (idk how accurate clicking the time will be so sry in advance)
the rewatchability of this movie is so much, i have seen 4-5 time and still not bored of it
I feel like this great flick gets lost in the conversation of really good comic book flicks these last 3 years. Some people say the only good ones we have gotten as of late is Spider-Man: No Way Home or The Batman and I’m just in the back “uh hello. The Suicide Squad. Right here.”
yeah this one really gets forgotten
Man this is a great video with a great narrative please keep it up, I'll be here behind the screen
Thank you!
I hope James Gunn takes DC seriously
Because I'll be damned if it has the same comedic tone of the MCU
I really like how Bloodsport’s nanotech feels like it bridges the parts/ attachments as he adds more to make bigger guns. The parts he adds on look like the framework and the nanotech blends the parts together.
I hope James Gunn helps DC to take over this decade
Because I'm sick of the MCU
I think it will be much different
Would've been pretty sick to see him face off against Henry Cavill Superman, I wonder how their fight went down.
9:24 Absolutely love the editing of this video xD
its over Anakin!
Bloodsport putting nanotech attachments on his gun felt so much like adding stuff to a nerf gun and I love that thought.
8:04 I think this element makes the character more realistic and lovable cause we love to see our protagonist struggle and make it through
I think another thing is in the movie (cant speak for the comics) its also said that bloodsport can make anything deadly in his hands.
9:03 i like that you can see him fail to grab it then fiddle around until he grabs the piece
Y'know I heard James Gun was a fan of tokusatsu, so that makes me wonder how much influence the integration kamen riders and their weapons influenced Bloodsport
You’re fantastic and I really love your videos
Thank you for watching!

I liked the nanotech on starlord's helmet and nothing in marvel since
One thing i loved about black panthers suit was the way it would eat through his clothes. When he put it on, it was a commitment. And i love Bloodsport's. He doesnt have a nano suit, he has a suit with nano tech. It makes it feel more real.
This made me appreciate the tech and its presentation a lot more than I initially have since I first watched the movie
Awesome!!!
I honestly think it's such a fun and clever way to adapt his comic ability, where he teleports weapons to himself
4:05 the funny thing about that moment is that peacemaker was the one that give bloodsport the advice that smaller bullets can penetrate the center more, and since bloodsport is the only one who can modife the size and shape from his arsenal you could argue he took his advice to take him down, making it an ironic defeat
i missed that! when does he say that to him?
