Don't underestimate the value of a thin cut! Love the idea of cooking them while still frozen. 💌 Also, I cook steak in coconut oil and butter mix and it comes out great. Maybe liver too.
Hi! I like you. I just happened to have a piece of liver in the freezer which I had purchased for my ailing senior pup. She has since gone to the Rainbow Bridge. So, I tried your recipe after watching the video. I used onion, carrot, one jalapeño, celery, some leftover kung pal sauce, etc and it is in the kitchen waiting for us. It tastes pretty good. Thanks for sharing. Sandra
Chef Buck, dude!, this was hands down one of the best cooking videos I’ve seen to date - and I’m a bit of a chef myself! Loved the authenticity. Had some laughs, had some fun, and looks like some good eatin’, too! That’s what it’s all about 👍🏻
Listen. Listen. Canned Salmon and Liver recipes will only fulfill your artistic passion in my world but I'm still here watching because I want to like it and just enjoy your videos frequently and for years. Have a good weekend Mr. More Tender Grocery Store Calf Liver. Hope you enjoyed it.
it's super kind of you to watch over the years--especially with how many canned salmon and liver recipes I've uploaded :^) Hope you have a great weekend as well!
Thanks, CB and CG. I'm still liking these long-form, real-time fry-ups. Looked like you were having fun throwing stuff in that pan & getting all creative. I always have fresh cabbage and onions on hand in the fridge; maybe next trip to the market I'll pick up a container of chicken livers and a bit of whatever choppable veggie is on sale. When I moved a few weeks ago, I tossed the odds & ends of sauces & stuff from the fridge, rather than move them. So I have to stock up again on easy umami. Hope CG's Mom enjoyed her fast-food treat. No judgement; I'm kinda partial to a Wendy's chicken & bacon sandwich, myself. Shhh... don't tell anyone.
The moment I said liver, CG's mom was out the door...but really she's always looking for an excuse to drive thru Chick filet :^) I couldn't get my mother in law to try the dish, but CG liked the stir fry liver variation. Chicken liver sound so good right now... I haven't had chicken livers in a bit, and I probably won't in the near future since we're gonna be moving around ourselves soonly! Hope your move went smoothly...and have a great week!
I do love liver, but have a hard time finding it. I will look in the freezer section of my grocery store. I'm pretty sure I will like this. I'll check out Robb's video. Thank you again for the Saturday morning recipe and video. Take care Chef Buck, Camera Girl and Momma Buck.
Didn't know to look for liver in freezer section at grocer, and I've been around a long time. Never too old to learn! Can't wait to try this liver recipe, sounds delicious. Thanks!
the freezer section is often times the only place I can find liver, which is fine since it takes the pressure off to cook it, and I really do appreciate the individually wrapped pieces ...thanks for watching
Nice creative variation on liver n onions. Will defiantly try it. Loved the homeyness of this video like I was in your kitchen. Boom, boom, boom. Was a little long but thoughly enjoyed it to the end! Do add the egg next time. (and the chopped peanuts) I would Sous Vide the liver in those sealed frozen bags then pan sear for 45 seconds per side to brown up n slice. Takes longer but u can't beat the precise cooking temp evenly throughout of Sous Vide cooking. Please keep these recipe video's coming! And good job video girl!!
Thanks a lot, man. I love an egg in almost everything, but especially in an Asian style stir fry...it's not as photogenic, though...thanks for watching even though it was waaaaaaay long.
@Chef Buck I like the real time videos because then we get to know the time required to make them! Highly appreciate the tips too. I hope you have a nice weekend too, Chef Buck!
I ❤ liver but I still watched this 'Recipe for People Who Don't Like Liver' and it looks good to me😋 I like to add a little rice vinegar and Eden Shake to my rice for dishes like this ~ for that extra Asian-y flavor😉 oops...forgot to mention the bonus you get with Eden Shake; the little shakers make great dispensers for all kinds of stuff!
Eden Shake! what a great idea!...I had completely forgotten about that stuff. We used to buy furikake when we lived in Seattle and always had it in the cabinet, but I don't think we've hand it on hand since we left Seattle...I'll have to get some for the pantry. Thanks for the great suggestion!
I also like traditional liver and onions. When my kids were young, I would also add apples. I purchase mine at a Spanish store that will cut it into any thickness that you like. I will definitely be trying this stir-fry. Thank you 😋
I grew up in the 60's and liver, spaghetti, meatloaf, cube steak, fish sticks, and fried chicken were in heavy rotation at my mom's house. I loved the liver and cube steak and meatloaf 'cause they all made for great sandwiches the next day!
I purchase my fresh liver from Publix. My location has it in the meat case. I tried frozen and like you mentioned it just fell apart. I will pan fry it from frozen from now on ! Great tip.
We've been in Tampa for a few months and I haven't seen liver in the meat cases where I've shopped lately...more often than not I buy the thin sliced frozen liver cause it's so easy to come by
Hey Buck and camera girl. This was a funny video. I love the part when you said "you think we are old now, wait until next year." The thumbnail with the liver and sesame seeds is really good. Thanks so much for giving me a shout out. I really appreciate that. I laughed when you mentioned how many videos on can mackerel and liver. We have in our channel. If we run out of ideas for liver and can mackerel we could start doing buttermilk and Brussels sprouts. I have never made Asian liver before. I usually just at Worcestershire sauce , onion powder, Italian seasoning and parsley flakes. And pepper. If I have to sauté vegetables that take a long time. I will put them in my microwave steamer for three minutes and then finish them off in the skillet. It speeds things up and doesn't lose any flavor. Thanks again for the comment about my channel. It really helps.
liver and canned salmon are both ingredients for cooks "of a certain age"...but there's gotta be a "hipster" chart somewhere where liver is on the rise ...liver is cheap and out of fashion, so definitely ripe for hipsterfication! Have a great week, Robb!
@@ChefBuckRecipes hey Buck, you know what else is out of fashion and taste like liver? Do you remember Schlitz beer?😀😀 I can't believe it. One time that was the most popular beer in the country. You have a great week too Buck.
P.S. Chef BUCK , My late wife also did a Terrific "Stir fry CAJUN SPICY Chicken Livers " that just couldn't be beat , tender & light flavored , this was soooo good this was my favorite dish of all time ...Try it for yourself I believe you'll love it ....NOBODY ELSE on UA-cam is doing this Recipe at all , chance for you to be the First...👍👍👍👍👍👍🖐🖐
How did I miss this? Yum-o. 😊😊😊I'm low on iron but my fav is chicken livers. Lee's Chicken (fast food) in St. Louis has excellent chicken livers. Most fast food chicken places don't have them on the menu. As good as they are, I would rather have anything you cook.👋👋👋😊
I love to fry chicken livers at home--and we can find good chicken livers at some restaurants in South Georgia--the challenge is getting them hot enough in a restaurant...a cold fried chicken liver is NO fun.
I love pot pie anything, but I don't make them too often (and never spectacularly)...we did a house sit one winter along the coast of Rhode Island and I frequented a place called Hartley's Pies in Fall River, MA and they had the best chicken, pork, and also salmon pies I've ever had...I probably gained 5 lbs just going to that place...I need to figure out how to make a pie that good
Hi from Canada. New subscriber. You cook like my spouse and I. We call it nuclear experiment cooking (do recipes with what you have on hand). The results are astonishing. We make a Liver in sauce recipe that makes the liver tast like steak. We will give your a try tomorrow. Thank for your recipe videos. All the best to both of you
😻 Here in the South (Dallas) we love liver especially Calf's Liver 😻 always from the freezer section🎉 btw We love Canned Salmon too especially for croquettes 😻 I Love ❤️ you & Camera Girl too. Great recipes & info 🎉 Today's recipe looks great too. I promise I'll be making this one too (maybe today) 😺 Have A Great Weekend 🌷🐦🌷🦋🌷🐇🌷🌞🌷
Chef Buck, you are awesome! Thank you for this recipe. You really went all out on perfecting it. And yes unrefined coconut oil is the best as it does have a little bit of a coconut flavor to it. I think you're right that peppers would be great in it. I'm definitely going to surprise my son with this meal. ❤️ The sesame oil and sesame seeds are a perfect touch.
we used to buy refined coconut oil and use it for all kinds of cooking, but now we're back to cooking mostly with olive oils. We do often have a less refined more "coconutty" coconut oil on hand, but I don't use it too often since coconut flavor doesn't jibe with a lot of recipes, but I thought it would help add a little South East Asian touch to this stir fry, and I think it worked. Thanks a lot for this suggestion. I love liver and I'm always looking for different ways to prepare it. Have a great weekend!
So, I may just be a madman but I tend to just eat fried liver and onion without doing anything special to it, I realize that I am definitely missing out on the true potential of liver thanks to these vids! xD
I think just plain fried liver and onions is THE BEST way to have liver...it's fun to experiment with liver cause it's healthy and inexpensive, but classic liver and onions can't be beat
Robb's been making vids longer than me...I don't remember how I ever stumbled onto his channel, but I think he's a real funny guy, and I've learned a lot of stuff on his channel over the years...he's one guy for sure where you have no idea what his next video is going to be about...not too many channels like that left on youtube
cooking this thin liver right out of the freezer is a trick I learned from Robb's Homemade Life's channel, and it's generally how I do it now 'cause it's so easy
well, it's a long way from diner-style liver and onions (which is my favorite way to have liver, no matter how else I try to dress liver up on this channel)
it's definitely an ingredient that most folks aren't on the fence about (and I'd bet most folks are on the side of the fence where there's no liver...I know my mother in law is on that side, for sure)

Gooooood evening! I love your comment! Thanks for watching, and have a great week!
I like liver - to my own surprise ever since I was a kid. And this makes liver even fancier!
yes, I've loved liver since I was a kid, too...I think liver is one of those tastes that's harder to acquire later in life
That looks good, I like the vegetables crunchy.
Me too!...and luckily CG as well
Refined and unrefined. Good job CG. I loved that comment.
This is a great new way to prepare liver ♥ Thanks CB & CG!
thanks a bunch for checking it out...I know a lot of folks wanna run for the hills when they see a liver video --and 24 minutes can't help:^)

I love liver and onions. I especially love a chopped liver sandwich on rye bread which I order at our local Jewish deli.
liver is one of the best sandwich meats...it's really weird that that's not a mainstream sandwich
