One thing I don't see being talked about on The roly Automation is Spot size. lasermatic spot size for the 20w laser is 0.24 x 0.12 ,But wecreat 20w is 0.08*0.10 mm ,and x tool is even smaller at 0.08*0.06 mm. Would this larger spot size on the lasermatic affect engraving quality ?

A larger spot size will have an effect on highly detailed engravings. But even with the larger spot sizes, I've been able to get some nice work out of most diode lasers. I also would take the advertised spot size with a grain of salt. The advertised specs are under ideal conditions and something that is hard for use to test and validate. I try to run kerf tests to see how much square a beam might be and how much material is removed compared to others to give an idea of the spot size, but in all honesty, unless you're engraving on tile with a 5w single beam laser, you're going to see some detail loss and variation in the beam.

I believe nothing else is needed to remove the fan and connect your duct for your extraction system. I just ordered the MK2 30W XW and will be able to verify when it arrives. That is my goal anyway, as i have my extraction system already in place

Yes, it looks like it's a simple removal. I like it when they keep it flexible for varying situations. The XW would be a great one with the extra working area.

I really like my MK2, it is the 20w. The 30 cuts faster, but I get by fine with the 20. Glad to see you like it also.

I hope to get more time with one in the future and really see what I can do with it. They do look nice!

This laser is actually owned by @theclackshack and I believe he got the risers from Patrick over at @LSEngraving

I have the MK1 with the 20 Watt upgrade. This machine does an awesome job. Waiting for the newer model to upgrade.

Does it engraves jewelry like the xtool F1?

It will mark stainless steel but not silver, gold, aluminum and other metals.

I thought you had one! Really love my LaserMATIC (as you know). Just wish the fan turned off, but other than that Roly did such a fantastic job on this one. I have put some serious miles on mine and it still seems like a new machine.

This was my first time getting to see one in person and play around with it. It’s a good machine, I’d love to see the extended MK3 that’s coming out later this year.

Nice review, I am still deciding what to purchase at this stage as I am going to transition my craft woodworking business over to a laser based business. I think I am wanting a laser machine that also does Acrylic though as well. I hope that The Clackshak can show or demonstrate what can be done to acrylics with this machine as well please not just thin Baltic pine etc I realise this is not a Co2 machine but show us what is achievable with acrylics please.

All blue diode based lasers will be limited in what they can do with acrylic. It comes down to physics and not power. You'll have decent success with darker opaque colors but transparent, clear and light colors or white it will do nothing to. If acrylic is a big factor in your decision, you'll want to focus on Co2 based machines. It will cut through all acrylics and leave a much smoother finish on the edge.

I want to test an F1 before I buy, don’t know if I am as hardcore as you Sir 1100? Great video. I wish there was a way to see a demo of many of these machines. Thanks

See if you have a Woodcraft store near you. They are demoing the F1 machines in many of their stores. Might be an option to see one in action.

I wanted to add that Roly's support is one of the biggest reasons i went with them over Xtool or some others. Having dealt with subpar support from another laser company, i didnt want to go through that again

    • @Vintauri
      @Vintauri  3 місяці тому

I have heard great things about the support from Roly Lasermatic. That is something that can be very important when purchasing a laser. Unfortunately you never know about how well the support is until you need it.

@@VintauriI've reached out to Roly with a few questions before deciding on what to buy. Both via email and in their FB group. I'm each cases, I've gotten quick responses from either Leo the owner or Dimitri with support. No can't even get a clear legible answer on anything from the laser company I currently have. My XW is slated to be delivered on Monday. Can't wait.
