    I also found out that you can remove the bottom plate to allow you to engrave on any size item. (Doesn't change engraveable area, but allows you to engrave on larger items than will fit in the enclosure.
    They also just released an add on thay drops down the rotary to allow you to engrave on larger items with the rotary.
    And the work table that also fits on the 'nubbins' so they are referenced to the same place all the time, and has holes to put work holders for batching out things in the same location all the time.
    While I just got mine today and haven't been able to use yet, I'm excited that even in the time since i placed my preorder and it arrived, they've released updates and add ons.
    I hope it speaks to the conpany and that they will continue to support and improve the machine!

    Awesome review! You crack me up! I currently have an Ortur LM3. One thing i hate about it is framing up small items. Using a low power and the fire button is my go to, but sometimes even low power makes a mark. Wish diodes were like a CO2 and had a smaller laser head so you could see your project/location easier.

    Thank's for the review if I didn't already have the Lasermatic 10 I would buy one today. The Lasermatic works so well for me that I haven't found a need for the 20 or 30 Watt unit and with three lasers in the shop I don't have the room.
    P.S. That front bar is suppose to be removed and is used just for shipping. Removing it makes it much easier to get the bed in and out.

    Many have put risers on the legs to raise up the laser itself. Then the air assist and the rotary can sit under the unit.

    Hey I’m just a bit curious based on the date that this was uploaded if you were also comparing this to the xTool S1 as well when you said that this beats all other diode lasers? I’ve been seriously considering upgrading my laser and have been looking at roughly three different ones (xTool S1, LaserMATIC Mk2, and WeCreat Vision). I like the features of all three but I’m stuck between the S1 and the Mk2 because I like them more and if they were in one laser I’d be on it in a flash.

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  5 місяців тому +1

      get the MK2 man it is seriously the best one in the diode industry, xtool is a good machine but look into reviews and you will see issues, most importantly xtool s1 doesnt have a camera, and the mk2 has a highly accurate camera my grandfather has the 30w and i have a ortur lasermaster 3 and im already saving up for the mk2,

    Hey there, great review! I've been interested in this engraver and even have a pending pre-order. However, I'm still torn between this and the Xtool S1 40W. Yes, the S1 is more expensive, but for about $2,200, I can get the S1 with the riser, radial engraver, and conveyor system.
    I've found hundreds of videos on the S1 discussing its pros and cons, but only a handful of people are praising this engraver, claiming it has zero flaws. What really sets this engraver apart from the S1? Why should I choose this one over the S1?

    • @BuildDadBuild
      @BuildDadBuild  3 місяці тому

      It’s just better in every way. XTool has flooded the influencer market with the S1, that’s why you see it more. This laser was built by engineers that actually LISTENED to the people that use their machines.

    • @BuildDadBuild

      Fire detection is a joke and doesn’t work. Most people turn it off.

  • @LouRao
    @LouRao 4 місяці тому

    I had two. The first one arrived dead and would not turn on, so I sent it back. I received my second laser, and it turns on, but the laser keeps making loud noises (crunching sounds) and bangs against the housing when sent to home. The laser goes toward the front instead of the back of the unit. The camera can’t be calibrated due to too much noise. Also, the USB stick, which contains all the firmware update files, Win & Mac drivers, and LightBurn software, is full of viruses. I packed the unit up and sent videos and photos to support. They are telling me these issues can be fixed and advised me to do a Zoom call with them. I am hoping they can explain via email how to fix the problem. I am waiting for support to get back to me; otherwise, I will send it back.
    If decide to send the laser back may go with WeCreat, they came out with a 40watt. WeCreat is all plug and play. I was hoping LaserMatic was plug and play but it is pain what I been through. I will update my status.

    design looks great with enclosure+ other cool features, wish more companies did stuff like that and also increased the bed size a little to 550mX550m, i usually make 500mm items and hard to find diode lasers with that bed size.

  • @ChrisBloom
    @ChrisBloom 6 місяців тому +4

    It may be enjoyable to use, but if their published specs on the laser are correct, yikes. The laser spot size is relatively HUGE compared to most other manufacturer's models - which makes the effective power applied at the surface of the work extremely small. Less than 500 watts per square millimeter. Compared, to say...the xTool S1 20 Watt is over 10x as powerful at 5300 watts per square millimeter, and a much better ability for better engraving resolution. Even the older xTool D1 laser modules blow this one out of the water. The xTool D1 10W is over 2600 watts per square milimeter.

    • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
      @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 5 місяців тому +6

      Not to burst your science bubble Chris, but I tested the power of the 20W LaserMATIC (well used) vs the 20W xTool (brand new), and the LaserMATIC produced 20-21 continuous watts of optical output, while the brand new xTool 20W put out 18.5 to 19.5 watts. This test was done with a FieldBest power meter with the same exact parameters. The 40W S1 vs the LaserMATIC 30W only had 13% more power, when in theory, it should have had 25% more. I'll have to agree to disagree! Field testing trumps didactic jargon. xTool doesn't even compare to Roly Automation, in so many ways... precision, support and opensource Gcode being the most important.

    • @YaaLFH
      @YaaLFH 5 місяців тому +3

      @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy You completely missed the point.
      The Lasermatic has a MASSIVE dot: 0.24x0.12 mm at 20W and 0.35x0.22 mm (!!!) at 30W, while the xTool S1 has 0.08x0.06 mm at 20W and only 0.08*0.10 mm at 40W, so the "superior" power is spread over about a 6 to 8 times larger area.
