We have all heard from my friends ‪@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy‬ , ‪@HoboWithWood‬ and ‪@LSEngraving‬about how well the machine performs, let’s find out for our selves. Thanks to ‪@rolyautomation‬ for sending out the machine for my evaluation.

    Got mine last week, no complaints other than my rotary ended up in Great Britain. They missed Michigan by a little bit. One thing I would like to see is steel net pads where the locator pins are for the honeycomb and jig table, the aluminum that those rest on now is bound to get beat up. I’m going to make some for mine out of 01 steel, they’ll last forever. They did do a great job overall on the machine. Still fabbing up that support brace to use as a handle, I’m trying to use existing holes.

      I was just at their website. Their Support Setup page says "Support and FAQs" but has nothing. Their Manuals page has a link for the Lasermatic 10, but not this machine (which to be fair is only with reviewers). The Parts page is the same. There is no Community/Discussion area (or something to point you to Facebook/etc) in the Support area, either. For someone not familiar with Roly, this doesn't give you a very good feeling.

    You're awesome! I keep learning from each of your videos 👍. I have WeCreat and am enjoying the laser. WeCreat warranty? Another subject. So, I am in need of another laser. I purchased and returned XTool M1. Why? Support! Support! And support is not in their blood. No matter how many reviews for XTool’s and their models demonstrate, the number one complaint is support. And I can testify. Plus, no matter what others say about XTool lasers, they’re overpriced. The markups for many lasers are ridiculous, knowing most are made in China with cheap labor. Pennies on the dollar during manufacturing in China. That said, what I like so far about the Roly is exactly what you said: they focus on the details, building a top-enclosed laser, and it seems support is good; they listen to their customers. And the price for MK2 is not marked up; it is at a price point where lasers should be. Your review and personal opinion of the MK2 convinced me to make a purchase. I spent too many hours watching video reviews from other channels, both good and not so good, looking for the next laser in my inventory, and yours sold me on the Roly. Again, thanks for never letting us down with your product reviews.👏😎

      Yea, I compared to all the other mills in that price range at the time. I am happy with my mill but I would love to have the larger engine at times. Cedar is an easy cutting wood and doesn't take a lot. I am considering purchasing an LX55 and just using the rails I already have with it. More power does make a difference on the 16+ inch logs.

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  7 місяців тому

      You are still limited on the x axis to the operating width of the machine. That would help on the y axis but the engrave size is still limited. I am talking about engraves wider than the 400.

    Comparing the Lasermatic MK2 to the Xtool SI, which one do you like better? I presently have the Xtool D1 Pro 20w and want to upgrade. What are the pros and cons of both machines?

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  6 місяців тому +1

      The big thing is the work area. Those two machines have totally different work areas. The S1 is wide but short and the MK2 is square. Both have a passthrough that can be used if needed. If you consider the width of the pass through, the S1 has a much larger work area. Also, If you are a lightburn user, you will loose functions on the S1 in lightburn. The MK2 is right at home with lightburn. Lots to consider.

    Yes, I have watched your S1 video. I just think that the current Roly is a good machine but not the “Second Coming” that some people feel that it is. Yes the S1 can be somewhat expensive if one were to add all the goodies, but the different add ons can be purchased separately to meet a given requirements. It would seem that adding the pins to remove the need for additional jigs would be a simple modification. I’ll go away now.

    Thanks for a full the description of the Roly.
    However, I will still stay with my S1.
    1. It can also be lifted out of the box, and with the removal of a few shipping screws it’s ready to go, with the exception of mounting the laser module which takes literally 30seconds.
    2. It has a much larger work surface.
    3. It has a Class 1 Laser Safety Certification. Therefore it can be used both with 20 watt and 40 watt blue lasers or a 2 watt IR laser by only swapping the laser.
    4. It has five internal flame sensors. With the optional CO2 extinguisher, it can automatically discharge the extinguisher if flames are detected.
    5. It has a safety key, when removed, completely disables the machine to keep it safe from kids.
    6. It has auto focusing. This allows convenient changing of different thicknesses of material. It also allows software available defocusing to set the exact focus lower down for cutting thicker materials.
    7. The auto focus also allows for engraving curved surfaces.
    8. Setting very accurate frames for round, square, polygonal objects is simple.
    Also lines can be specified for straight or angled lines for objects or text.
    8. An optional air assist allows automatic setting of the fan speed, or four manual settings.
    9. The optional riser base has many different uses.
    A. It has 4 slots to slide in the base pan for objects of different thickness or height.
    B. With an optional feeder, it can engrave materials up to 3000 millimeters long.
    10. The S1 can connect with LightBurn 3 different ways.
    A. USB
    B. By WiFi if on the same network by manually specifying the S1 IP address .
    C. By using the WiFi by letting the router assign the IP address via DHCP.
    😀

      I also have an S1, it has some good features but they do not work with lightburn. You cannot cut anything taller than 12 inches without the feeder system and once you guy the machine, riser and feeder you have spent way more money. Each machine has it strengths and weaknesses. Also, without a stationary jig kit, the S1 cannot accurately batch out items. Feel free to check out my videos on the S1.
