As a 22 BRZ Automatic Owner. You can still drift it because it has paddles and a stick shift in 6 speed. It's also a LOT OF FUN. You also get better fuel economy. This car is great for young people and older folks alike. It's a great car with outstanding performance and reliability. This car can easily go 300,000 miles before needing to fix it. Just remember to do you oil changes and general upkeep. It actually gets better fuel economy highway than the 2019 crosstrek that I had. Gets ok fuel economy in stop and go traffic. I've already put 13k on mine. I've owned it for 2 months.
I have an auto gt86 for a daily driver it’s still fun and I love it. You can still do little skids and I enjoy the paddleshifts. It was also a lot cheaper than the manual.

I own a 23 GR86 with a manual. I came from a FJ Cruiser with an automatic, and while I do miss having an automatic just for the ease of use, a manual sure is fun. The 2024 GR86 / BRZ will have all of the safety features included on the manual cars which is “good” I assume. I personally don’t like having all of the safety features… But to each their own.
Why not get the automatic no need to be shifting gears in heavy traffic. Two less tiresome. Third you actually get the extra safety system. Four you get extra cubby space between shifter and cup holder. Fifth you get shifter paddles on steering wheel. Sixth you don't have that annoying third pedal more space to rest your foot.
the manual is better for loads of reasons. You have better control over the car as you directly engage the transmission, this is especially desired in sports cars like the brz. The lack of a torque converter in some manual cars make them more fuel efficient than their automatic counterparts. manual is just flat out much more fun, which si also desired in sports cars like the brz. manual cars are also MUCH cheaper to own, manual transmissions are much simpler in design and are easier to fix. Manual cars are lighter than their automatic counterparts. Etc Etc Etc

I don’t think I’ll get tired of driving at a comfortable speed any time soon, I think later on though I will need to transition my v4 for a v6- v8, for more power, but that’s abt it. And I’m thinking like years years ahead, not anytime soon; more like when I’m 32 or sum, where I can be financially reckless at times.

its easy to learn. lots of videos out there. when youre finally in a manual car, practice stop and go with just the clutch in 1st gear to get a feel for the bite point
The whole point of these cars is fun with what power you do have (not a whole lot, but very responsive and linear). The auto in these basically removes the fun aspect and reduces response so now you have a hairdresser car that’s only really meant to look like a sports car.

Anybody can drive a car in a straight line or even around a race track and make it look easy with an auto. Thats because it is easy. Plenty of space for foot rest. Safety systems are questionable in their actual efficacy. You don’t get much more space. Shifter paddles are annoying.
I got the automatic and have zero regrets. I mainly city drive and basically never go to the track.
