Saffa new to Auckland here, really enjoying your channel. I have a manual BRZ back in South Africa. It’s a fantastically fun car, proves that you don’t need massive power to enjoy a car, miss it a lot.
Can I ask what you paid for it in Rands. Cause I hope one day I can afford one. And I can't find brz but there are a tone of 86 available and they go for 150k plus second hand. And he's saying he paid 7 usd for it converted to our current that's -+80k ridiculous
Hi Thando, I paid around 250k ZAR a couple of years ago. The BRZ is very rare in Mzansi, the 86 is more popular but for clean one it’s still over 200k. Ive found that cars are actually cheaper here in NZ than in SA
Nice effort. I had an auto gt86 for 18 mths back around 2014. It was ok, but not that comfy on long trips. I swapped it for a 2006 Lexus gs450h. A vastly superior car. Loved that one.
1:55 that's exactly how I would buy a 1st gen BRZ/GT86 lol - key start (not push start), no steering wheel buttons, no sunroof, etc lol. Heck I would buy the "stripper" JDM versions if I could
For all the young players who have that start up squeak: If you try to sort that cricket sound and find that it isn't the accessory belt, it's the fuel injector pump. It's so annoying, but it's a pretty common issue with these. Mine is pretty much a scene from pinocchio for a minute or so after a cold start.
Haha yeah I figured if I put a cheap one in then whoever buys it might want a different one with apple car play or something. So I'll just leave it to them
I've always wanted one of these. Right from when they were released new, I loved the way they look and they have definitely aged well. I'm sure with some basic handling mods and an ECU flash, it'll be the perfect fun-car for track days and b road blasts!
Great vid mate... been following your reviews since I was looking for an ISF in NZ. I like how your videos are by a driver for drivers. I ended up buying a manual GT86 for some cheaper fun on the track, but still paid a lot more for it than you did! Nice find.
Well, if it had other issues it wouldn't have survived a track day haha. I've put a few thousand k's on it and it hasn't given any trouble so I'm sure it'll be fine
A mate purchased one with a blown engine over covid, which he repowered with an LS. With 600rwhp & manual, it is a real drift weapon. I would love to do the same for a road car, but our LVVT laws get's in the way, which sucks.
