      @@KonkrRoads You have to enjoy life any way you can! Thank you! Great question… the more I drive it, the more inclined I am to keep it pure. I want to compete in 86cup and they do have a stock class. They allow some camber arms, and minimal adjustment items, and track mods (track pads, oil cooler, bucket seat, etc) but no power adders or other enchantments. It drives so well with these Sachs dampers and big brembo brakes 😃
      Nice subtle HKS touches on your ride by the way 👍🏽

    (2) things I would definitely add to your list are: #1 switching out the yellow looking incandescent interior and backup lights for good quality LED lights. #2 should have come this way; adding hood struts and removing the antiquated prop rod!

    • @KonkrRoads
      @KonkrRoads  6 місяців тому +1

      Good calls -- the hood prop should have been left back in 1956 where it belongs!!

  • @KernelFault

    My order was:
    Window tinting
    Paint protection film
    Ceramic coating of windows and paint
    Unplug fake engine noise
    Remove intake carbon filter
    Dual oil catch cans
    & I elected for a banana dispenser rather than ejection seat. I felt that would be more useful.
    I've also added brighter LED reverse lights, smoked turn signals, smoked reverse lights, & smoked side marker lights. To do's remaining this year are: printing a inside trunk handle, oil accumulator, oil cooler, and covering the bolt heads inside the door wells and seat bolts. Next year, I will pull out the entire interior, add sound deadening all around, as well as adding amps and new speakers. 2026 will have me installing a Sprintex supercharger. Then I'll see if I need to open up the exhaust.

      Where did you get the oil catch pans from? I’m really scared of oil starvation on this car especially in right hand turns. I plan to take it on track for the first time next year. My Clio didn’t have a problem but I’m worried about this GR 🙈

    • @KernelFault
      @KernelFault 26 днів тому

      @@Nishan113 The oil catch cans will not help with oil starvation. Oil catch cans keep oil from entering into the intake and gunking it all up. To mitigate the oil starvation, I got an Accusump from AnsixAuto. I have not yet taken it to the track, I want this installed first. Not sure how big a deal is the RTV thing, but I feel the best solution would be the oil pan from AnsixAuto.

    Another great cheap mod that should be on your list is a glass screen protector for the infotainment system, makes the screen look so much clearer and pleasing to look at. Also carbon fiber trim for around the drive mode buttons and door switch gear is a big cabin upgrade, along with a heavier shift knob.

    The best mode for me by far on the BRZ was pedal commander because Subaru bozos "engineering team" could not tune the throttle response properly from the factory. It makes a huge difference with downshifting. Also, added oil temp/pressure gauge, exhaust, removed fake sound, removed carbon filter, adjusted clutch pedal to have less travel, adjusted gas pedal for better heal/toe, changed rear sway bar to 16mm from oem 15mm to have a little more stiff rear end.

    I agree with the interior of the BRZ being really nice. A lot of people complain about stupid little things and I feel like its the perfect interior. Well if I had to choose 1 thing the console lid annoys me. I like the infotainment screen though and all the buttons. I also like that its wired for carplay because no one uses the stupid wireless chargers anyway. When you have wireless carplay at least with Subaru your forced to use it as wireless because wired does not work and that annoys me with my Outback.

    Good list! I’ve done all of these. I also suggest getting the GR tail if it’s your style. I think it really looks good (got mines black on sapphire to match my STi trim pieces) it should’ve came from factory, and fairly cheap (under $200 doesn’t have to be from Toyota). MTec spring really helps modulate the clutch a bit better. A wireless CarPlay dongle (newer ones connect almost instantly). A dashcam for insurance claims and 5-0 stops. Tints. Wrapped the steering wheel. I also put accessory “fog” lights on mines and changed the front grill with the eBay one, but those are a little more involved. Also upgraded my speakers, added a beat-sonic mini-amp and some dampening on doors and trunk. Changed some buttons, carbon-fiber pieces etc. This car can keep you spending money for years 😂

      @@KonkrRoads I feel you... I was the same way then did some soul searching and realized what it is I really enjoy about my cars and that's just driving them.. plain n simple. I've modded less.n less. Mainly just get the exhaust where I want sound wise.. address.the shifter if necessary.. and wheels/tires when needed. Much much cheaper 😂

    If you remove charcoal you lose warranty (sadly)

      If Subaru or Toyota can link the engine issue with the loss of the filter, then yes. However I don't see how the removal of this filter would cause engine problems; the increase of airflow is minimal and the original JDM factory design did not have it to start with. A chance we all take I suppose.

      Can’t be true. If you add an intake, it has no charcoal filter and does not void warranty.

      @@KonkrRoadsyou said it! I’m on board with your list too. I like the stock height and wheels on my GR86, so have to ignore a lot of peer pressure. Also, your HKS legamax video was a major reason I got it and was able to install it myself. Will probably never go to another exhaust!

      what car (2+2 sport coupe) at this price ISN'T a mistake? Eco Boost Mustang? Turbo4 Camaro? turbo4 Supra (no back seats)? MX-5 Club (no back seats and a convertible)? Perhaps a 8yo Boxster/Cayman is a better financial choice, yes? So, please do tell what isn't a "mistake".

      @@K03sport exactly. Even if you get something with more power at the same price, like a used cayman, you’ll be spending more on maintenance and any parts/mods you want. Plus no back seats, which is dealbreaker for those who need to transport their kids. VW or some hot hatch? Nope, doesn’t handle the same, and/or no RWD.
