In the scene where Nat and Melina were planning their infiltration, Nat said she would activate her tracker so Ross can find her. In Dreykov's office Nat picked up a vial that didn't explode with the rest. The Jet is called a Quinjet, they also used it in the first Avengers as well as Age of Ultron (where Hulk used it to go into space - supposedly). SHIELD had a lot of them and were eventually adapted for Avengers use in their compound
Add to that the fact that Melina demonstrated and explained Dreykov's research into mind control/pheromones via the pig in the dinner table reunion scene.
@@moose2577 NO!! the missile was shot from a normal Jet that took off from the hellicarrier. Clint was piloting a Quinjet that had Nat and Steve in it and they crashed in a New York street.
I had to jump over to Disney+ to rewatch it because I haven't seen it since the release. You are 100% right, that opening credit scene is chilling and awesome at the same time.
Regarding their accents, there's something in filmmaking called the Translation Convention where the characters on the screen have a different native language than the audience, so you hear them speaking the audience's language with the understanding that we agree they're really speaking their own language. The way I like to see the use of language and accent in this movie is that I assume they're all speaking Russian, but the fact that Natasha doesn't use a Russian accent means she is now speaking Russian with an American accent due to the years she's been speaking English.
I mean i can understand where youre coming from but that doesnt make sense in this film since there are multiple occasions where they are speaking russian and there are subtitles. Going from the horror show that is the rest of the film in terms of attention to detail and storyline I think youre giving too much benefit of the doubt though I admire your generosity towards the director and producers.
@@phr00tpie I know it's not perfect, but, for instance, there's absolutely no reason for them to be speaking English in a Russian prison, so I find it more helpful than the alternative. Truthfully, I don't think they cared one way or the other when they were making the movie. You've got to select a viewpoint and just enjoy the movie, and the one I picked makes more sense than what is actually presented on the screen. It's not benefit of the doubt. It's personal preference.
The part that's weird is that Alexei can clearly speak perfect English as a spy, but for the rest of the film has a thick accent no matter who he's talking to.
The whole idea of the transition convention falls apart when you take into account the fact that this is part of a cinematic universe in which they have used subtitles for other languages. In addition, they do use actual Russian many times in this film. I really don’t think it’s a big deal though. When they were a family in America they spoke English, so it makes sense they would still speak English when they come back together. Also, it makes sense that Dreykov would want the widows to use English since it is a more internationally known language than Russian.
Marvel does everything with a plan and never just throws new content out there. This film was to set up her sister as the new Black Widow so she can be in the Hawkeye series and part of the next team of Avengers. The timing for it was perfect. Scarlet did executive produce this film and had a big role in everything during production. She said her main goal was to guide this actress into what it is to play the Widow and she wanted to help make her as cool and badass as possible. As an exec producer, she knew the film had to be more than just being about her and she embraced that. Many people that watched it said Yelena was their favorite part of the film. Goal achieved for Marvel.
@@pkrmkn31 Johansson signed a deal for playing Black Widow for Box Office percentage... Disney+ streams do not count for Box Office earnings and they released the movie simultaneously, so apart from piracy and all, people stayed home and watched the movie instead of going to cinema. That was a loss for her, without movie being a failure. Disney changed the plan for Shang Chi and realized that she was right. People did go more to cinemas, so she proved that she lost income from that streaming move. And that's why she got 40 mil and a new deal for future movies with Disney (not Marvel though)
The others explained everything, but I have to wonder why anyone would read the post and see anything in there that would make them think she wouldn't or couldn't sue the company. She was an executive producer. Executive producers can't sue, if they are screwed out of money? She wanted the movie to be more. So therefore she couldn't sue?
I adore Scarlett Johansson, she's been amazing in all the Marvel movies and ALOT more besides. But Florence Pugh MADE this movie for me. She was fucking hilarious :D
14:30 "It has a lot of pockets." In the late 80s and through the 90s, a typical fashion accessory for Marvel's heroes were... just as many pockets as possible. Bandoliers with pockets, vests with pockets, thigh straps with pockets, everything had as many pockets as possible. Yelena, I believe, was created in that same era, and thus her first costume was likely drowning in many over stuffed pockets that never got used.
19:55 The irony about Yelena calling him the Crimson Dynamo is that there actually was a comics villain that was one of Tony Stark's villains. And it was a Russian character that often fights against Iron Man.
Yeah, lots of her questions (especially towards the end like where the vial came from and how General Ross knew to come) were answered in the movie, but it has to be hard to give commentary and catch all the details
Natasha clearly grabs parachute. Natalie: She's going to jump without a parachute? (two seconds later) Where'd she get that parachute? That was convenient.
You have to bear in mind that she’s also recording the whole audio for people to watch along with at home, and pausing frequently complicates things for lining up her commentary with a film. And if you’re thinking “why not edit it?” Well, it’s a lot of audio to comb through and edit which would be a pain in the ass, and even then, it would likely still throw off the synchronization with the film.
i agree in wishing that there were more drama filled moments to explore EVERYTHING that Nat has been through. i feel it also would've lent towards the audience caring a bit more for the other widows who would've likely had similar experiences to Nat in their upbringing.
When Antonia nearly died, instead of helping her, Dreykov turned her into a weapon. That fact alone makes him one of the most evil characters in the MCU

We’re getting a Marvel Hawkeye show this year and Yelena is going to be in it. Edit can you please react To Netflix Daredevil before No Way Home and The Hawkeye series
One of Scarlett's best movies has got to be 'Her', and you never even see her; she;s just a voice on the phone. Now THAT'S some fine acting. Not even her own words - she came in later and re-spoke all the lines of the original actor in post!
@@Wirenfeldt1990 I think I've watched that one six or seven times over the years, and you are absolutely right - it's solid as f**k. It's just that 'Her' kind of swims under the radar as far as her movies go, and it's too good to ignore. Just trying to get the word out there. : -)
While I was in the marines we did cold weather survival training at the top of Norway in the Arctic circle. Got to see the Aurora borealis, it’s a very beautiful place when you aren’t sleeping in a tent in -30 degree weather 😂
Nice. I was in the Canadian infantry and did Advanced Winter Warfare training in Resolute Bay. Learning how to fight in -70.. the Inuit natives there showed us how they build igloos. The warmest we got the thing inside was -19. Climbing out of a warm sleeping bag in -19 was a real bitch. Haha. We had arctic tents too. The sea ice was 13 feet thick.
I'm from Iceland and Nat just starts talking about how she wants to live in a town with "this scenery" around it. Trust me Nat, it's awesome! as long as the community is good of course ;)
And it used to be Buda and Pest, they where two separate towns for most of their history till 1873 when both along with a third town Obuda conglomerated into one city.
I have an old reproduction of a map of medeival Buda and Pest that I put in a frame and hang in in my kitchen. Why? I hear you ask. It's because in the kitchen is where you get Hungary. I'll show myself out.
Its actually funny because compared to the other Marvel movies, this one seems almost down-to-earth action wise, and I think I actually liked it more. There are also a lot of metaphors about abusive relationships in this movie, and I appreciated seeing some of that representation on screen.
Uh... did you watch a different movie than me? The action scenes in this movie were some of the most over-the-top in MCU history. Captain America: Civil War was more down-to-earth than this movie. Edit: And I'm not saying that's a bad thing either, but this movie is _DEFINITELY_ not down-to-earth.
In canon, Taskmaster has "photographic reflexes" and can perfectly imitate any display of physicality (including fighting techniques) that it has ever seen. So Captain America with the shield, Hawkeye with a bow, Black Panther with the claws. Anybody it has encountered or seen on television.
I like that Natasha is wearing Yelena's vest in infinity war. Marvel does great with small details like that. It makes the MCU more believable as a whole to have even small details carry over from movie to movie.
I think of the three female-centric superhero movies I have seen (this one, Wonder Woman and Catwoman), this one is the best. The humor is AMAZING and I love the dynamic with the family (especially the two sisters) and how PERFECTLY it fits with Natasha'a character. Throughout her journey, family and loyalty has always been the most important thing to her. In this one, she's immersed in all 3 of her families (the Avengers, her birth mother and her adoptive family.) and we get to see how she deals with that when she doesn't have the "big ones" there to help her. I am really happy they gave her her OWN MOVIE without really using this movie to predict future story arcs. The one in this movie is already done where she rescues the Avengers.
i actually liked the lighting the entire time nat. i was like “it looks so cozy and chill in there today for some reason.” you had the lights off the entire time lmaooo
I cannot recommend ICELAND enough for your honeymoon. The Missus and I stayed in Rejkyavik for our honeymoon. We saw the Iceland Punk Rock museum, visited Gullfoss, the Geysers, the church (Hallgrim's Kirche) that inspired the architecture on Asgard, drank at Bar Lebowski, had steak at Restaurant Chuck Norris, visited the gift shop at the Phallological Museum (yes, they have a museum dedicated to THAT - we were not mature enough to actually go INTO the museum) and closed off our honeymoon at the hot springs the morning of our flight back to Canada...you'd LOVE it. Also - WE, the audience, know that Barton didn't kill Nat, but the rest of the world does not. The characters, thankfully, are not omniscient. As far as anyone else knows, Barton and Romanov went to get the stone and only one came back and you have to "exchange a soul for a soul"...
@@tarmaque My last name is a city in Norway. My family are Norwegian immigrants to the U.S. I am naturalized. Sorry that it was a little confusing, I was mostly making that comment for those from mostly Norway as a little joke. A stupid one, but yeah lol.
Taskmaster's ability is to be able to learn the fighting patterns of others. So, he studies others and can perform their moves, which is why he had a shield like Cap and fired arrows like Hawk Eye
I'd think that this ability would have its limitations. For example, just being able to copy Thor's moves won't address his Asgardian strength. Or Iron Man's technology. Or Doctor Strange's magics. Taskmaster can fight like BW or Cap or Hawkeye because they're either somewhat normal human or close enough.
Enjoyed the reaction as always. If you’re a fan of Florence Pugh you should have a look at Fighting With My Family if you’ve not seen it before. Florence is terrific in it.
@@Musabre They've usually been pretty good about actor performances, though. I mean, in the same year there was that whole kerfuffle over _The Dark Knight_ not getting nominated for Best Picture, Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in that same movie. And _Midsommar_ came out 11 years after _The Dark Knight._ There's no excuse in my mind.
As a Norwegian I would recommend Lofoten and Tromsø, in Northern Norway. And Hardanger and Sognefjorden in the West. Iceland is also beautiful 💙 Maybe you can do both. Also you should watch "Anne with an e" and "Outlander". Amazing tv-shows!
It’s so nice to finally get some representation in this movie. My name is also Alexei and I’m an unkempt slavic commie, never thought I’d get my own superhero Btw, 15:15 you used the correct pronunciation of my name and I’ve never heard anyone outside of life pronounce it right, even in this movie, so thanks :)
My best friend and his wife flew to Iceland, were there for 4 days, then flew to Brussels, and did a 10 day loop through Europe on the trains for their honeymoon. It's an awesome trip, and Iceland depends on tourism to survive, so everyone there is super friendly, lol
Maybe the most inadvertently funny part of these movie reviews are how concerned Nat is about the (fictional) environments. “Oh the trees!”, “you guys are ruining this apartment!”,😁. And no need to worry so much about your lighting Nat, it stays golden. 😊
If only some scientist could invent something that allowed external light to not affect filming... Maybe some sort of Curtain? I'm sure something that High Tech would be hard to source or install though...
I'd definitely recommend watching Agents of SHIELD if I were you. It's a really good show. It doesn't really start to get good until about episode 13 of Season 1 and it is relentless from that point on. It's done that way by design though. The episodes before episode 13 help build the world around sort of like what The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger did for the movies. It follows the movies to a point and we get to see some familiar faces as well which is cool.
I don't like the main plot, and many of the fights are a bit too superhero for a normal (albeit atlas-trained) human IMO, but the movie is still definitely in the top 5 Marvel movies *for me*, maybe even top 3. The acting and the delivery of jokes is what carries this movie.
Hello Natalie, I have worked for years as a tour guide in Norway. If you are ok with cool weather and a chance of a lot of rain, then Norway is absolutely stunning. The mountains, fjords, nature, islands, the silence ... It is magical. Generally speaking, the best time to travel, weather wise, is from late June to mid-September. The European holiday season peaks from June to mid-August, so then it can be crowded in many of the most iconic spots, including with cruise ships, though they have been gone now for a while, because of Covid. My personal favorite time of year to travel is from the end of August until mid-September. The weather is often very soft (no guarantees though, that doesn' exist in Norway). The light is beautiful as the Sun gets lower. The business of the Summer season is over. And the nights, though still relatively short, are really dark, with gorgeous stars. I believe in following your own nose in Norway. Like renting a car and driving along the coast. Stopping in small places, booking in small hotels and hostels. And wherever you are outside of the few big cities: go to the outskirts of town (often just a short walk), cross the first hill and you will find yourself in nature, all alone, and everything is quiet. Paradise. Check out the Hurtigruten, the Norwegian coastal ferry system. You can take a car on board (do book in advance, as place for cars is limited). The scenery from Hurtigruten is amazing. The islands, coastline, sea, mountains ... wow. Check a few videos by passengers of Hurtigruten on UA-cam to see what I mean. Lastly, think about good clothing. As Norwegians say: there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. A good outdoors breathing, waterproof jacket is a must to have, in case the weather turns. Think Gore-Tex or something like that. Good hiking boots that can withstand the water and have good grip are also great if you go hiking. Not too heavy, not too light, with good support for the ankles, as the trails are often very basic, rocky, with inclines etcetera. For hikes, I swear with Lowa Renegade GTX, to give you an idea of what may be great (though always check whether a certain brand fits your foot). Sneakers work great in the towns and cities of course. Some typical hotspots: the Western Norwegian fjord area, roughly between Bergen and Kristiansund (my personal favorite fjord area is the Nord Fjord area, with Olden and other places around. There, you can also easily hike to some nearby glaciers. Do check out a stave church ifone is nearby. My favorite is the Kvernes Stave Church. And explore some of the quiet islands, for instance the bird island Runde. Further north there is also endless nature, the Lofoten are incredible. And I have a soft spot for the far North, the Finnmark. Wild and endless, all the way up to the North Cape and East to the border with Russia. Norway is not a country for cities. That said, there are a few gorgeous places. My personal favorite is Trondheim, cozy, beautiful and well worth a visit (do explore the cute Baklandet area if you happen to go there). Oslo has some amazing museums and see if you can take a walk along the Akerselva (then just follow your curiosity) or visit one of the amazing little islands in the Fjord, like Hovedoya, easy to reach with the local ferry. Last but not least, take your time when you are there. See where you like it, and stop. Norway is no place for a tight itinerary, it is a place for following your nose and curiosity, and for taking your time, wherever you are :-) If you go there: velkommen til Norge!

7:47 This actor, William Hurt, passed away, just last March 13. It brought me up _very short_ when I found _out_ about it. I _really_ got the impression it should've received more _fanfare._
The actress who plays young Natasha is actually the daughter of Milla Jovovich, a fairly famous actress mostly known for The Fifth Element and the Resident Evil series.
a more kinda spin of show that is optional for marvel is “what if…?” it’s sort of like different universes and what would of happened if certain things went differently and it’s animated but majority of character are voiced by the same actors
It's also officially canon. Some of what happens in that show has ramifications for the wider MArvel Universe. I just wish they'd hurry up and introduce Nova. Maybe we'll see him in the next Guardians movie.
I've noticed over time that you and I feel EXACTLY the same way about Scarlett as an actor. She is incredible. You put it perfectly - she elevates everything she's in. And when you said she makes you weep - every time I see her in the beginning of Endgame, I'm already crying. She is hanging on by a thread and it's painted all over her face. Her ability to emote and be in the moment is phenomenal. I get the same thing from Elizabeth Olsen. Scarlett, Elizabeth, and Florence are probably my three favorite female actors.
Russia does not have prisons like that in Siberia where they house the prisoners American etyle. In Siberia they have penal colonies which are more likely heavily guarded work camps where the prisoners live in wooden or brick barracks
When I saw this movie I actually cried like a huge baby starting when Natasha yelled at them not to touch her sister and during the beginning credits when all the little girls were being taken. Something about it just got me.
The actress playing the young Natasha is the daughter of Mila Jovovich,The vest that Elena gave to Natasha she also wears in the Infinity War, when Natasha says to Drake "Thank you for your cooperation" she said the same to Loki in the Avengers, according to the canon of comics Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) had an affair and not a long affair with Natasha, he also trained her, but for some reason it was removed in the film, but they left a reference in the form of Bucky's fighting style which copies the Taskmaster watching footage from the airport.
Loved the intro.Just sad they didn't make a movie that kept that same tone which it desperately needed.Goofy action and family comedy really wasted a great opportunity to make another great marvel movie like WS.
Haven’t looked at your subscribers numbers in a while. Wow! 222,000. I can remember not that long ago you describing a thousand subscribers as crazy. It’s amazing how far your channel has come in so short a time. Congratulations and as always you keep making them and I’ll keep watching.
With the vials at the end, as she was leaving Nat grabs two off the ground, one used to free taskmaster, the other to work up more antidote. And at the beginning she turns her tracker off, when they explained the plan she said she would turn her tracker back on which would bring Ross in to take care of the Red Room.
So taskmaster can mimic anyone he sees in comics so when she’s watching video she’s learning all the avengers moves. Also this movie has Nat more similar to her comic version that has the super soldier serum.
Great reaction, Nat. I'm glad that you got to this one, which took me by surprise on how good this movie was. Best part for me? The cover of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" during the intro piece. Purely epic. BTW, Shang-Chi will arrive on Disney+ on November 12, so you have time on that one. Your next Marvel mission is "What If?", which will blow you away.
One interesting thing in this movie is in the fight scenes Taskmaster actually does mimic moves from other characters in other movies, such as some moves from Black Panther and Spider-Man and the "Ariana" knife drop-and-catch that Winter Soldier uses. So they really did take some extra time in the fight choreography to go back and try and match characters that Taskmaster could have conceivably studied at some point.
I loved this movie.... and Scarlette Johanson is also one of my favorite actresses... if you want some more great movies "IF" you haven't seen any of these already ... "Lucy"(2014), "We Bought A Zoo"(2011), "The Prestige"(2006),
David Harbour really really wanted to speak Russian throughout the film but the producers forced him to speak in an accent. He admits it was stupid but he was so into the character he wanted it.
This movie isn't perfect and Disney tried to screw over ScarJo but it has its moments. Florence as Yelena was fantastic and fans want to see more of her which I am down for. The intro to this movie was super dark and intense, yet there was more comedy than expected as you mentioned and I think it is a little off-putting. And yeah, some of the action was a bit much. Great video Nat! Keep it up 😊
@@Frangucci Yeah, personally speaking, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3, Age of Ultron, Thor & Thor:TDW, and Captain Marvel were all "worse" to me, meaning I was less invested. The only one of those I've rewatched is Ultron, and that's because I fell asleep watching it the first time in the theater. This is like Ant-Man & The Wasp, Spider-Man:FFH, Iron Man 2 level MCU, imo. Maybe Doctor Strange as well, but I really liked that for it's visual style. Black Panther's horrible CGI action scenes almost knocked it to mid-tier for me.
this should have been released in place of captain marvel. better timing might have helped the film. captain marvel should have been a phase 4 release.
she DID chase down Barton, and her and the Red Guardin, and Ghost (from Antman and the Wasp) and the "evil" captain america.... all get their own movie.
Personally preferred Shang-Chi over this, but was still a fun movie! Looking forward to the next one though (anyone know when she’ll be reacting to it?)
In case nobody has said yet, Taskmaster can mimic anything he sees. Ergo, he studied every Avenger and learned how to be excellent at a bow, shield, sword, hand-to-hand, etc. He cooked a gourmet meal for a date once after watching a chef on tv!
Great reaction, I love everything about this movie, it’s my 7th favorite MCU movie, also they showed Nat pick up two files that didn’t explode, and Nat said she would notify Ross where she was when she was in the red room, and Nat picked up the parachute when she was running torwards Yelena , also the girl playing young Natasha is Ever Anderson who is Milla Jovovich’s (Resident Evil, Fifth Element) Daughter
I don't care what haters gonna say about Black Widow but I actually cried during the opening sequnce (human trafficking, Smells Like Teen Spirit cover, all that). Sooo... when I decided to rewatch it again a couple of weeks later I joked a lot to my friends about me getting all weepy but gosh dang it I DID IT AGAIN. Whoever designed that intro is a genius, nuff said
Alexi keeps bringing up and insisting he fought captain america through the whole movie, despite our captain never mentioning fighting the 'red guardian'. The first clip of them in Ohio takes place in 1995, assuming his primary time as the Red Guardian was before that (as he mentions in cuba wanting to go back on real missions). His primary active time was probably late 80's to early 90's. Steve Rodgers would still be on ice at that point, which means that the captain america Alexi keeps insisting he fought all movie was actually Isaiah Bradley from Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
@@KevyNova then he wouldn't be so insistent and asking Natasha about that, i think. In my opinion he definitely fought some captain america, just not Steve )

@@user-km4lo8zz6z I did. Just now. She's a super spy, but Hawkeye should be the only one who can launch an arrow while flying through the air on a motorcycle and hit an eye, dead center, from that far away while the eye is moving.
Honestly, when I watched this movie for the first time, I identified so much with Natasha and everyone in it. Coming from a background with Russian influences, this was perfect. Super accurate, especially Alexei's dialogue but also the entire family dynamic. This was crazy. I had to show it to my family and they also agreed that this is exactly what e.g. talking to my grandpa feels like. There's so many details in this that made me howl with laughter - the fact that Natasha drives a Lada in Norway (why would you choose to drive a car that screams Russia if you want to stay hidden when the world is looking for you and you're in the hinterland of Norway?), the way Alexei insists the fuel is going to last all the way to St.Petersburg, not letting the girls be right, his obsession with Natasha being part of the Avengers but also insisting that the Western powers are evil and cannot be trusted or the way Alexei tells the story of his father peeing on his hand (I swear, I've heard multiple variations of that story from my grandpa). Even the way Natasha and Yelena interact as sisters - it's so perfect. I loved loved loved this movie. It was amazing. I suppose that many people couldn't really pick up on the Russian cultural cues and details but to me, it meant so much to see it all like this. Even though I don't really connect with that part of our family history, I felt really touched by this movie. Also, yes, Siberia has a long history of having prisons and labor camps - not just in the MCU.
I liked the family dynamics between them. Yelena calling Natasha a poser. Melina telling Natasha don't slouch and eat more. And Alexei just saying the wrong or kind of inappropriate thing.
I'm taking Yelena's continued survival in the face of explosions to her face as evidence for my theory that people in the MCU are just overall more resilient than in the real world.
"Are they just f**ing fine? That's crazy." Yeah that was something I didn't like about this one. I know it's the Black Widow movie, but she's not supposed to be indestructible. They treat her like they would treat one of the other more physically powerful characters instead of having her action correspond to her unique talents. The beginning scenes with the family's escape had me riveted because it felt like a human drama, but by the end of the film, I was a little action fatigued instead of engaged like I should have been.
Pheromenal locks are apparently a real thing, and given that Nat used to be in the red room it makes sense that she would have had that implanted in her long ago.
I really didn't like how they introduced Taskmaster. He's an entirely different character in the comics, with his own backstory. He's a mercenary for hire and had established several institutes to train criminals, so it would have made more sense in this movie if Dreykov had been Taskmaster. Comic book Taskmaster even has a daughter named Finesse who has the same ability to learn from observing. Olga Kurylenko should have had an actual role with more lines and showing her face. Considering the costume, they could have had her do all her work in two days of filming and just put a stunt double in for the rest of it. Considering how good an actor she is, it was an absolute waste to use her in a role like this one.
For the most part Taskmaster is Andrew Lister, you can tell in most scenes. It would have been funny if Olga had some more speaking lines because she's probably the only one there who can do a convincing Russian accent :)
I agree that Taskmaster felt wasted. With his abilities it would have been way cooler to see him fight more of the Avengers. They could have made a much better secondary villian if they had gone a different direction and made better use of the daughter as a character.
@@thedeepfriar745 what I hope is that they use taskmaster in the future. In a way that the protocol still exists and could’ve been copied so that the actual character can be in the mcu. It wouldnt be aligning with the comics but it would make sense to use it that way🤞🏽
*this film is an historical document bc of the streaming wars & law suit.* & the fact it really, really sux & was on the shelf for so long makes it all the funnier. - JC
I remember the trailers from the first Ant-man and Doctor Strange that they directly mentioned them, I guess Marvel wasn't that confident on them at that time, even the Guardians poster said "from the studio that brought you The Avengers", but to be fair in universe, the Avengers formation is a pretty big deal
@@Zombiesnyder13 I think quite the opposite, this year alone you have a spy thriller with Black Widow, a wuxia inspired martial arts movie with Chinese mythology in Shang-Chi, an ensemble with indie touches in Eternals and then Spider-man NWH. I like how each movie has a different feel and genre to it. Mind you not all will pull it off well or be to anyone's liking but that's the beauty in the variety. The same can be said for the TV series
@@Zombiesnyder13 yeah, that I can give you except for Eternals but again in the tv department each show looked unique as of one, the blandest one was Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The one thing this movie _needed_ to get right - Yelena - it did. Most characters in fact I think were well handled, if Weisz or Harbour show up in the MCU again I'd be happy to see them... even this Taskmaster _could_ be interesting to see again. But the movie as a movie was far more superhero than spy, more than was good for it I'd say. I know a lot of fans aren't very interested in the grounded, Winter Soldier-type part of the MCU, but if you're going to make a Black Widow movie you kind of have to accept that you're making a spy movie, and that it's going to be pretty dark. They tried to skirt around that, and the movie is lesser for it.
@@Onaterdem Well sure - _I_ absolutely love Winter Soldier. But I love the first two thirds of that movie more than the last third which is still good, and I like the first two thirds of Black Widow more than the last third which is not good.
@@KillahMate 100% true your comment. I was just saying that, since you said the Winter Soldier style doesn't cater to the majority, the majority has started to notice how good WS is and now I see everybody listing it in their top 5 so it's not as uncommon as you think, I think
While I enjoyed this film a lot, I do think it suffered from trying to be too many things at once, as well as coming too late in the MCU release schedule. I think most people agree that Natasha should have gotten her first feature much earlier; I'll go a step further and say that she should have gotten two (or a mini-series and a film). One installment could give us the Black Widow spy thriller, the deeper look into Nat's history with the Red Room, maybe Budapest/her early S.H.I.E.L.D. days?, and a few hints/flashbacks re: her make-believe family. In the second, we meet the gang in the flesh as they reunite, team up to take down Dreykov once and for all, and Nat passes the torch to Yelena.
The green vest that Yelena had? Black Widow wore the same vest in Infinity War, after Yelena gave it to her and the movie takes place before between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War
Black Widow was a solid action movie but nothing special compared to the other Marvel movies. Shang-Chi is waaaaaay better and hope you enjoy it soon!!
Took me three days to get through it. I endured that only because Marvel normally puts out pretty good stuff. And I am invested in the timeline and overall story. What a stupid thing to be invested in.
I actually didn’t mind this movie, it was an entertaining popcorn flick even with the super ridiculous moments. Now I wouldn’t have paid to see it in theaters so releasing straight to Disney+ was a good decision.
Dreykov's daughter is one of the things Loki taunts Nat about in the 1st Avengers movie.

She’s the spitting image of a young Milla
In the scene where Nat and Melina were planning their infiltration, Nat said she would activate her tracker so Ross can find her.
In Dreykov's office Nat picked up a vial that didn't explode with the rest.
The Jet is called a Quinjet, they also used it in the first Avengers as well as Age of Ultron (where Hulk used it to go into space - supposedly). SHIELD had a lot of them and were eventually adapted for Avengers use in their compound
Did they launch the nuke from a quinjet in the first Avengers? And Fury shot the other one with an RPG?
@@moose2577 No, those were F-35s, just US warplanes.

The opening credits will forever be my favorite way Marvel has opened a movie
I had to jump over to Disney+ to rewatch it because I haven't seen it since the release. You are 100% right, that opening credit scene is chilling and awesome at the same time.
For real, this opening credit sequence goes hard af
Yep
It was good, but we a got a better one with deadpool.
She actually had an accent in Iron Man 2.
Goal achieved for Marvel.
then why did she sue the studio and win?
@@pkrmkn31 Because they offered every other Marvel property a theatre release and streaming release. But they didn't put the movie in theatres.
@@emptyasmrman The film was in theaters. I saw it in 1 earlier this summer.

Would have loved to see your reaction to Yelena making Alexei uncomfortable in the helicopter with the hysterectomy description

Nat: “ignores movie for split second for commentary”
Movie: “puts all the important stuff in those moments”
Yeah, lots of her questions (especially towards the end like where the vial came from and how General Ross knew to come) were answered in the movie, but it has to be hard to give commentary and catch all the details
Natasha clearly grabs parachute.
Natalie: She's going to jump without a parachute? (two seconds later) Where'd she get that parachute? That was convenient.
Yeah I wish she’d pause the movie anytime she had these questions mid movie, would make her experience much better for all of us
You have to bear in mind that she’s also recording the whole audio for people to watch along with at home, and pausing frequently complicates things for lining up her commentary with a film. And if you’re thinking “why not edit it?” Well, it’s a lot of audio to comb through and edit which would be a pain in the ass, and even then, it would likely still throw off the synchronization with the film.

Also - WE, the audience, know that Barton didn't kill Nat, but the rest of the world does not. The characters, thankfully, are not omniscient. As far as anyone else knows, Barton and Romanov went to get the stone and only one came back and you have to "exchange a soul for a soul"...

Still say they should have done more with the gimmick.
@@christopherb501 she survived so they still can.
I'd think that this ability would have its limitations. For example, just being able to copy Thor's moves won't address his Asgardian strength. Or Iron Man's technology. Or Doctor Strange's magics.
Norway is no place for a tight itinerary, it is a place for following your nose and curiosity, and for taking your time, wherever you are :-)
If you go there: velkommen til Norge!

Keep it up 😊
Yup. Correct on all points. Easily the worst MCU flick. It seemed to me there were 3 writer teams and 3 directors who made this...
Dude, it wasn’t the WORST one. I’d say it’s middle of the pack
What if? or Shang-Chi?
Since Shang Chi isn’t available widely on Disney+ yet, it’ll probably be after it’s available!
I think Black widow obnoxious. It''s horrible, the worst movie in MCU.
@@diegosantos1388 that's still easily Thor: The Dark World
@@diegosantos1388 Take a break dude. I bet you also don’t like Captain Marvel.
Or he’s just lying.
@@KevyNova doubt it
@@KevyNova then he wouldn't be so insistent and asking Natasha about that, i think. In my opinion he definitely fought some captain america, just not Steve )
@@KevyNova Or the writers didn't do their homework.
@@yodieyuh The writers didn't do their homework, but included someone stating Steve was in the ice at that time. Right.
For lighting issues. Maybe get some easy to mount/unmount blackout curtains? You could probably get a compression bar so you can easily install and remove them if you don't want to always leave them up?
For this movie, I use the joke from THE BOYS:
"GIRLS GET IT DONE!"
Don't know if anyone told you, but the girl who plays young Nat, is Mila Jovovichs daughter.
'What If' Shows how cool the Black Widow is across realities.
Yeah. Including making a shot that only Hawkeye could make, but the writers thought it would be really cool.
@@chuckmount5873 who said only Hawkeye could make that shot?
@@user-km4lo8zz6z I did. Just now. She's a super spy, but Hawkeye should be the only one who can launch an arrow while flying through the air on a motorcycle and hit an eye, dead center, from that far away while the eye is moving.
@@chuckmount5873 The way I see it, the Captain is placing Ultron's eye on the path of the arrow.
@@louisfrancisco2171 Nope. Peggy isn't even looking. She's using all her strength to pull the helmet back to expose the eye.
You're keeping me in suspense with the Haunting of Hill House! I'm waiting for your video to jump scare me
She has to watch THE WALKING DEAD.
@@diegosantos1388 in my personal opinion, TWD isn’t consistent enough for a reaction. After season 7 it just became boring for me.

Taskmaster can mimic and memorize any moves made by opponents.
Taskmaster!! wish they did the character better but I do love the action scenes portrayed him decent enough
Yeah they could have made taskmaster a Merc that drakov hired or something
Yeah I'm less upset about the gender swap and more mad that they wasted the character
I liked the family dynamics between them.
Yelena calling Natasha a poser.
Melina telling Natasha don't slouch and eat more.
And Alexei just saying the wrong or kind of inappropriate thing.
We need more Red Guardian in the MCU, just for s***s and Google’s like
Is s***s and Google's a phrase now, or did autocorrect do that? Lol.
@@andrewgrant6516 DYAC!!! But you get the picture lmao
I'm taking Yelena's continued survival in the face of explosions to her face as evidence for my theory that people in the MCU are just overall more resilient than in the real world.
That's what I've been saying for years about people in the comics.
"Are they just f**ing fine? That's crazy."
Yeah that was something I didn't like about this one.
@@daltoncrain7648 yeah I would’ve liked to see taskmaster take on either Hawkeye or Steve Roger’s Captain America
I believe they're saving his superpowers for Echo, just like how theyre changing Ms Marvel's because of Mister Fantastic.
- JC
Drinking game:
Take a shot everytime a character from a solo movie mentions the other Avengers or past events
@@JustKrin and that's why I hate the MCU
There's no individuality anymore
@@Zombiesnyder13 I think quite the opposite, this year alone you have a spy thriller with Black Widow, a wuxia inspired martial arts movie with Chinese mythology in Shang-Chi, an ensemble with indie touches in Eternals and then Spider-man NWH. I like how each movie has a different feel and genre to it. Mind you not all will pull it off well or be to anyone's liking but that's the beauty in the variety. The same can be said for the TV series
@@JustKrin they might be from different genres, but in terms of visual style and cinematography, they all look the same
@@Zombiesnyder13 yeah, that I can give you except for Eternals but again in the tv department each show looked unique as of one, the blandest one was Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Nat!!! Love you and your babbling about your lighting! It shows us a glimpse of what Tyler loves! ❤️🥰
Actually I'm pretty sure _a lot_ of people absolutely *love* Winter Soldier. BW was more of a discount Winter Soldier... Not a good one
@@Chogra well, there's more stupid things to be invested with. This at least not hurting anyone else 😅
Marvel has done such a good job that even the worst MCU movies are masterpieces compared to most superhero and action movies.
I actually didn’t mind this movie, it was an entertaining popcorn flick even with the super ridiculous moments. Now I wouldn’t have paid to see it in theaters so releasing straight to Disney+ was a good decision.

Yes, yes we did.
