Erik losing his family is both an example of stellar acting and contrived writing. Fassbender never ceases to amaze, but the foolishness of that scene took me out of it. It just felt too obvious and too neat and... I dunno, when Fassbender yells to the sky "Is this what you want from me?" I imagine he's not acting and it's really just him yelling at the writers.

Maybe growing big in the real world like he usually does was a bit too ridiculous, but I would’ve been curious to see it
Essex is in reference to Nathaniel Essex, aka Mister Sisnister. Classic X Men villain. Wants to turn all humans and mutants into the ultimate beings through science. He’s obsessed with Jean and Scott, believeing their DNA can create the ultimate mutant. Don’t expect to see him, never came about. A version of him was supposed to be in Logan but he’s a more theatrical operatic character and Logan is supposed to be more grounded. He was also supposed to appear in New Mutants, and the Gambit movie that got cancelled.

I know it's just a movie, but with all the nukes up in the upper atmosphere/space they wouldn't detonate Nat don't worry. Nuclear warheads have a very complex detonation sequence that's in several stages. I'm a former Navy Gunners Mate Missiles rate (job classification) my precise specialty was guidance systems and we got training on non conventional warheads (nukes)

At the end, the briefcase that had the insignia "Essex Corp" was a nod to the character Nathaniel Essex, aka Mr Sinister, who did some testing & research on Scott & Alex Summers' blood & their powers.

More logical would be to watch "Dark Phoenix" next. From timeline, but also "Logan" (for me) is the best film of them all , deservers to be the final.

The ending scene with Jean is so good! Showed how powerful she really is. Love your reaction and your glasses look. ❤️❤️

It just stinks that they never get the Phoenix storyline right. And especially in this movie, where tf would've she gotten it before her own movie, since they went with that continuity.

Actually Jean is very OP. She has empathy, telepathy, telekinesis, psychic energy synthesis and all of that, when she is at her peak, is pretty much unstoppable. Kinda like a Wanda sort of being

High recommend that film as well.
It broke me in less than 2 minutes at the start. There's no way anyone can walk out after watching that film and say they're fine, because that film rips you up... But a BEAUTIFUL anime film. Highly recommend

Nathaniel Essex is a former minion of Apocalypse and geneticist. He is a firm believer in social Darwinism and eugenics, and he is obsessed with creating the perfect mutant by combining DNA from several mutants. He determined the best pairing would be the child of Jean and Scott (their kids are OP). Essex's villain name is Mr Sinister, he's an exaggeration of villain stereotypes and has evolved into a flamboyant genius and master manipulator. The reason he used to be such a stereotypes is because the original plotline that the creative team had was Sinister would be a young child who created an avatar to be a villain with, so he made the most villainous persona he could create. This was scrapped, so they went with eccentric mad man. Sinister never appears in any X-Men movies, but he is a fan favorite pick for the first MCU X-Men villain. He has a big role in current X-Men comics after he repeatedly cloned himself and made one of said clones a mutant. He was chosen to be on the government for the new mutant nation of Krakoa because he supplies the archived DNA that Charles and 5 other mutants use to resurrect dead mutants with backups of their minds stored in cerebro. This is all explored in House of X/Powers of X, an intertwining comic series that relaunched the X-Men after Disney tried to replace them with the Inhumans because they didn't own the film rights. Now that they do, they assigned one of their best revolutionaries at Marvel to make them good again, and Jonathan Hickman delivered. If you're wondering how good Hickman is, the MCU is pulling quite a bit from his run on the FF and the Avengers for Phase 4. HoX/PoX is definitely worth a read if you want to know more about Moira and the current state of the X-Men in comics.

Fun fact about Scott: he eye beams can’t actually light anything on fire. His “laser vision” isn’t conventional heat vision like Superman’s. It’s actually pure concussive force. He essentially punches people with his eyes. Which is why it didn’t burn a hole in the restroom stale door either. If that’s not weird enough already, he doesn’t actually produce the energy with his body, his eyes are portals to another dimension that release its energy through his eyes.

Stan Lee created a lot of Marvel characters, and was editor in chief for a long time, but he didn't personally write all that many of the iconic plot lines. "Days of Future Past" (which wasn't too much like the movie) was written in 1981 by Chris Claremont (who also created more mutant characters than Lee).
