Actually, I think Yondu was rather proud of his adopted son when he got the doll instead of the stone. Yeah, Yondu did actually adopt Peter, no matter how turbulent their relationship is.
I came to think that Yondu has never really personally tried to kill Peter either. Sure, he has threatened him and most likely given him a beating every now and then.
But as I said, they have a turbulent relationship.

Good idea about watching Galaxy Quest...if she's already a Trek fan. It's only OK as a standalone film but it blossoms if you have the perspective of a Trek fan who's been to the theme parties and the conventions, etc. For example, I've been to a private party where Walter Koenig was paid to show up. This was before the first Star Trek movie. It was pretty clear he didn't care to be there but, hey, a paycheck is a paycheck, right? No spoilers, here, but there's a nexus between that experience and a scene in the movie that was impactful to me in a way that someone outside Trek fandom couldn't really appreciate. So, Natalie, if you like Trek, watch Galaxy Quest. If not, there are better places to spend your time.

I'm guessing the pods were not designed to be a spacecraft in the vacuum of space, no life support. Didn’t the Russo Brothers (maybe) say that when Teenage Groot in Infinity War gets snapped that he was saying “daddy” to Rocket? It makes that one 30 second scene so much more heartbreaking.

@@bradyanselmi I think it was James Gunn again, who said that Teenager Groot's last words to Rocket were "Dad" - and yes, it does make that scene and Rocket's reaction after that much heavier.

In the comic books, Accusers are a special office of Kree who pass judgement on entire worlds and have the power to destroy planets. In the comic books, Ronan sometimes fights alongside the Marvel heroes and sometimes against them because he always does what he thinks is in the best interests of the Kree empire no matter what.
This version of Ronan is different, probably because James Gunn didn't want to waste time explaining Ronan and his backstory.

Awesome fact: Vin Diesel (VA for Groot) recorded every instance of "I am groot" with different inflections so that the character felt more alive and organic.

Five years ago, I was part of a company-sponsored volunteer trip to the far north of Vietnam. One night, in our rural hotel, on the satellite TV, with Vietnamese subtitles, was Guardians of the Galaxy. If you had told teenage me in the '80s about that scenario, I would have laughed you out of the room.
