The idea of a hysterical person in a room where medical people are trying to revive another person, is generally undesireable. I love seeing you experience these MCU films with new eyes. They're such a masterful set of storytelling.
it's so emotional to watch this as she goes through the different layers of the character growth
BEST SOUND TRACK EVER
I personally put it as an almost-too-close-to-call second place. Baby Driver's soundtrack tops it.
@@smockboy never saw Baby Driver, I will have to take a look if the sound track is that good
@@hungryewok1684 I highly recommend it. It's Edgar Wright's best work in my opinion, and the way he uses the soundtrack to enhance the cinematography is superb.
I don't know about that. I was jammin' to the one from the latest version of _Shaft_ with Sam Jackson. 👍😁
Groot died. Baby Groot is a new Groot.
Yondu is smiling at the end, because he's proud of/likes Quill.
It'll make more sense to her after watching GOTG2.
Yeah, even before volume 2 I figured he was smiling because, as Cat Stevens once sang, “my boy, was just like me...”
which doesn't fallow the comics. in the comics the flora colossus species has a regenerative healing factor allowing them to be reborn via a single sprig. in the comics every time he has died(3 times) he is regrown from a single sprig, its not a different groot its the same groot
@@houseofaction According to James Gunn, it's a different Groot.
@@houseofaction So... if Rocket had picked up several twigs... would we have several Groots? :D
You're going to LOVE Guardians 2.
Best opening scene in the MCU, IMO.
"Is he happy about it because he likes dolls?"
No, he was laughing because he appreciated being tricked by his protege. He saw the comedy in the situation.
Every time that Thanos pitted Nebula and Gamora against each other, he would do cybernetic experiments afterwards. Gamora almost always won, so she had less reconstruction than Nebula. If you watch the Xandaraian prisoner processing display, you will see that Gamora had several augmentations.
"It makes no sense to kick the kid out of the room!"
It was the 80's, children were supposed to be neither seen nor heard until the adults needed them. I remember being kept separate from pretty much everything that wasn't deemed a 'child' activity until I was in jr. high. Other friends of mine had two working parents so they were left alone a lot. Being a kid in the 80's was rough.
Yeah and I think keeping a kid in the room where they’re about to do “horrible” things to his mom trying to save her is a bad idea too.
The idea of a hysterical person in a room where medical people are trying to revive another person, is generally undesireable. It's a distraction from them doing their job, regardless if it's a kid or adult. For such a reason, medical staff usually clear the room. Period.
It IS rather odd to leave a kid alone outside while one of his parents is dying.
Damn, skippy.
yeah, now that you mention it. He was only in the room in the first place because his mother wanted to seem him. He was by himself before then.
@@bradyanselmi "What are you doing to my mommie? You're hurting her! Stop it! Leave her alone!"
Yeah, because kids don't get emotional scars because they don't and can't understand everything that an adult does. Ridiculous to think it was for the kid's own good to remove him from the room. Pfft.
"My reflexes are too fast. I would catch it." 🤣
Only thing cuter than Groot is Natalie - such wonderful, genuine reactions!
Delightful space you carve out on your channel! Informed but never pompous. Thoughtful, and genuine. Thanks!
"I want to know Rockets background."... No you really, really don't. But you'll get it in the third movie
Many think that Groot is kind of reborn as himself but according to James Gunn, the director, it would be more accurate to see it as Groots child.
This. Groot died. Baby Groot is his offspring.
Hey, it's plants. Since it's growing from the same wood, I guess it's a clone?
Genetically he is a clone but being raised by the Guardians this time opposed to what he grew up with before he will not be the same Groot.
@@RashaKahn Exactly. Genetically a clone, but in the modern scientific sense: he doesn't magically have original Groot's memories. He's a brand new child.
And I love that it's implied, due to them raising him, all the guardians are now fluent in 'I Am Groot' speech.
@@RashaKahn Like an identical twin separated at birth -- except here he's also separated in time.
16:24.... YOU AINT READY... YOU AINT READY...
"There's a little fox." Omfg! I laugh-barked so loud, my cat jumped clear out of the laundry. That is sooo funny. You may be Thor's soulmate.
Great video Natalie! Audio for everything was on point thanks!
I re-watched this. You are so well spoken. Thank you for these.
The soundtrack is great and this is one of my favorite MCU films.
21:25 I guess you could say that Star Lord trolled Yondu, and that's why he finds it funny.
“Passengers” is a good one with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Although he does a serious role, it’s an enjoyable experience and might change your mind about only liking his comedic roles.
Passengers.... Easily one of the lower quality movies i ever watched. And I watched a LOT. Yes there is chemistry between Pratt and Lawrence. But a good movie needs way more than that. I would give it a 4 out of 10
this was a hard scene for me. because I was my mothers caregiver for years... I had to sit and watch her die... alone, no family gathered around. ..just me and her. Losing a parent is not an easy thing at any age.
I’m sorry. How old were you?
I feel ya, my first real job was when I was 20 and it was as my mom's primary caregiver. It was rough, I was basically being paid minimum wage to watch my mom die...
I really liked the edits for this particular reaction
"Rocky Fox" is one of my favorite Beatles songs.
Also that 'duck' is an easter egg. It's actually a different character of a different story called "Howard the Duck". They just threw the cameo in to Guardians suggesting it's the same universe.
He is also in a bunch of Marvel comic books in the background, and shows up at the end of Endgame.
He's an actual marvel character from one of the weirder corners of the multiverse. Just like Spider-Ham is technically in the same multiverse as the MCU and got treated as a semi-serious character in Into The Spiderverse
Howard the Duck is a character from Marvel comics.
Did you see MoneyBall? Chris Pratt gives a vulnerable dramatic performance as a catcher forced to play first base.
That movie was so hyped, but I thought it was boring.
@@jkhoover The book is 100 times better.
Scott hatteburg
Remember, you should really only watch the Marvel movies according to chronological release order, to avoid spoilers.
Also, make sure you watch them to the very end to see all the mid credit and post credit scenes.
Love your hair here! I love the curls too, but this is a really great look for you.
The "duck' was a Marvel character from the 70's anf 80'scalled Howard the duck. They made a movie in the 80's starring Lea Tompson (The mom from Back to the Future)
Earth in Latin is Terra. Terrans = people from Earth. It's used fairly often in s-f.
Yes, because aliens across the galaxy speak Latin.
@@JasonON well Latin is the language the Alians taught some of the humans of before they left
@@JasonON Calling Earth Terra is just a common trope.
And "Terran" sounds much better than "Earthling" which is a hallmark of so much cheesy/campy 1950's sci-fi.
I can't wait till we get to Terra Nova, aka Mars.
"The Duck" is a reference to Howard the Duck, if not himself. The movie is definitely worth seeing at least once. More than that, YMMV.
A guilty pleasure of mine.
@Natalie Gold I so love it how empathy's you are while watching movies.
9:06 I frikkin love when my dog wakes up like this!
The Groot we knew is effectively dead. The sprig is more like a son.
Or Groots 'bud'.
Yup. Explicitly confirmed by James Gunn.
Didn’t the Russo Brothers (maybe) say that when Teenage Groot in Infinity War gets snapped that he was saying “daddy” to Rocket? It makes that one 30 second scene so much more heartbreaking.
@@bradyanselmi I think it was James Gunn again, who said that Teenager Groot's last words to Rocket were "Dad" - and yes, it does make that scene and Rocket's reaction after that much heavier.
@@bradyanselmi Don't spoil Natalie's experience.
When Natalie does anything to her hair that isn't super curly: "I have never met this woman in my life"
Also, you'll probably be able to get through the Marvel movies at a faster pace now. The first phase of Marvel movies weren't all hits. The ones after this are super fun and much easier to get through.
Yeah, when she straightened her hair a while back I channeled my inner Thanos “I don’t even know who you are...”
"I definitely want to know his back story. I hope we learn more of it"
No you don't 😔
I swear, I've never seen you have the same hairstyle in more than 1 video (not the ones filmed back to back) and that's impressive!
I so enjoy watching these "with" you!
I can't believe she didn't include the "take my hand, Peter" shot of his mother. Wow.
Awesome fact: Vin Diesel (VA for Groot) recorded every instance of "I am groot" with different inflections so that the character felt more alive and organic.
16:20 You’re gonna need need to emotionally prepare yourself for that Nat 😅
It’s so fun to watch you watching these! It’s like having a movie night with a friend! Keep them up!
Nice job on editing all this together, very entertaining. God bless.
8:11 That was hilarious editing.
Heh. Yeah it was very funny. And perfectly timed.
Marvel took 10 years to come out with all the movies. Even restricting yourself as long as u finish in 10 years u are on pace with how everyone watched it.
16:21
No you don't. Believe me, you don't.
Seriously great editing! Really added to the momentum of the video & the little gags made me laugh a lot.
Just wanted to say I have binged the entire MCU over the last month with my sister thanks to you Nat :D
The guy in the prison that Groot stick his fingers up his nose is Nathan Fillion!
Natilie " WOW, I don't remember any of this" Translation = "I was totally hammered when I saw this the first time.
Terran is the name of inhabitants of a planets designated as Terra. In this context he's using it to mean 'human'.
Exactly. Terra is the official designation of our planet, just like Sol is the official designation of the Sun, and Luna is the official name of the Moon.

So this movie holds a very special place in my heart, because before my Grandma died of cancer she gave me the vinyl soundtrack for this movie. She was always very considerate like that, so now on the anniversary of her passing I play the soundtrack through its entirety, and then I watch this movie. It's the best gift I've ever gotten :)
One of the best parts of this movie is him dropping the orb. Chris actually dropped it but they just left it in because it fit the character so well. Also the way he almost pops back up after grabbing it is so funny to me for somereason
