🚨Important 🚨 This farm was made using regular boars, if you have 2 star boars use my wolf farm instead and it will work. Farm here: ua-cam.com/video/4m2E6SCvzTo/v-deo.html
Another IMPORTANT note is you still have to put down the Double floor like he does in the Boar video for the 2 star Boars or they will still not be tall enough for the Wolf design
I just made this and here is a tip. The part where he angles some walls as anchors for the real walls that hold the boars in is more important than he lets on in the video. If you just attach walls to the 2x2s, there will not be enough room for the 2 boars to both stick their heads out to eat. One will be pushed to the back and will remain hungry and then they wont breed.
Ah I see what's happening here, whenever a creature goes up a star their size also increases by 10%, my farms weren't tested on creatures that are 1 star or above
I haven't tested with this exact build, we would need to make some changes to accommodate the increase in size. I'll look into it when I have some time. According to the first comment 1 star's seem to be fine
This doesn't seem to work anymore in the Ashlands update. Even with the extra piece destroyed on the opposite end. It seems as if the baby boars have the same size hitbox now. If I fix it to not kill the babies, then they grow up to adult and don't take damage from the smoke.
Not sure why it's not working for other people but I did this following these plans and it's working fine for me. (Most current update as of 05/22/2024; Ashlands)
Cool, just set this up with an all starting wood design (basic wood walls plus the corewood supports, thatch roofing, and a campfire in place of the brazier) and it works with 1* boars. I'm only seeing 3 piglets at a time but that's fine; not looking for a porkchop mill quite yet.
Yeah, I used wood fencing instead of the iron cages as well. Trickier to place, but so far they seem to work. Also I'm having issues with piglets dying to smoke through the wall so I placed a fence to prevent them from getting to that area of the pen.
The only big problem with this method is that the babies take a long time to grow, and while they don't grow, the adults stop reproducing because of the limit of wild boars in the area. I ended up making an adjustment to the height of the place where the couple stays, I made it much higher (about 12m high), now they keep reproducing non-stop haha I also increased the size of the base, where the puppies are, so as not to run out of space, now it produces a few dozen boar meat per hour.
Good video but man I cannot figure out why my boars up top will not eat. There is probably something really small that's causing issues but I tried raising the ceiling, moving the walls on the sides, jumping on top and tossing the carrots directly into the pen, no idea what's going on. I removed all of the walls and they ate once, I put the walls back up and they popped out a piggy but still will not eat again. Edit: Nvm I was able to get it working! I removed and replaced the side walls a few times. I swear I used the exact same snapping points as the video, but whatever. I can confirm that this method still works as of whatever the latest stable build is on Jun 17 2024. The piglets grow up and die from the smoke as expected
Can someone help? I had it running smooth for about 15 piglets, now my breeding adult pigs are Tame, Hungry and I keep picking their food up and throwing it back at them and they are not eating. They do an animation that looks like eating but they aren't. They are not happy so they wont breed more.
The smoke is killing the piglets for me. I even removed the extra layer of floor and its still happening. I wonder if they changed something with the Ashlands update.
Thanks for the comment, yes it seems they somehow changed the pathing of smoke clouds. I found if I remove the top wall on the far end facing the brazier to allow the flow of smoke to exit instead it works again, otherwise it does a weird new redirect motion on impact
For some reason, my little pigs die before they become adult and I don't know why. Maybe because I use thatch roof instead of spingle? Tried everything even removing the 1 floor tile you said to include but to no avail. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Heya, I only tested this build with regular boars yes. One and two star boars have a bigger hitbox so you probably need to increase the size of the pen slightly to make it work
I think increasing just the little pen at the top that boxes the two adults in should work. I haven't tested this yet, but they need to be able to turn around even though they won't be
@@Zergeryou should change your title or make it clear somewhere. This doesn’t work. I made it bigger and bigger and bigger. I wasted 2 hours of my time following your guide and trying to fix it. I already only have such little time to play video games. Thanks to following your guide I wasted 2 hours I could’ve been building one that actually works.
Yes, I've figured it out. The pigletss randomly get injured by the smoke and they end up dying before growing up. I think there may be too much smoke in the chamber. I'm currently testing a setup where the fire is a 2x2 floor tile away. Hopefully this fixes it.
Hey there, yes you guys can remove the furthest wall away from the brazier so the smoke flowing along the roof instead flows outwards rather than hitting the wall. The smoke "bounces" off the wall when it collides in some cases 🤔
@@Zerger Yeah. I tested both that and building the brazier one 2x2 floor away. Both work but the wall breaking method costs away less wood lol. The smoke builds up and pushes other smoke downward bcuz 1) nowhere to go, or 2) too much smoke. Zerger is correct. Follow the smoke and break the wall off at the end so it vents out. Just the thin 2x1 wall.
Just built it. Seems to work on 1* boars but I am hearing it isnt working that well with 2* since the piggies are slightly bigger the smoke kills them before they grow.
I made a replica and it worked perfectly! Thank you!! I think I will make another and try it with a deep pit though, the rate of production is great for solo, but not a group of 6 hehe
I built vertically from your model and scaled it up about 12 meters higher than the pig drop zone. The breeders at the top are non stop pumping out piggies. I made the bottom 4x4 instead of 2x4 and the single Brazier is still plenty to slaughter them once they hit adulthood. We got enough meat for a group of 6 and raising wolves, thank you for your contribution!!!
i make this with some modifications for 2 star boar, but the problem is my 2 star boar cant died by smoke. Sad... And with new patch we cant dig too deep . So if you want to make animal farm you need to build up and i hate it because it looks ugly. 😢
Nah the brazier doesn't die out when it's surrounded by smoke, it also produces smoke at half the rate of any other structures. So kinda essential because of that
@@Zerger I am playing on ValheimRaft so my base is just a big mobile ship. Trying to vent smoke from a kitchen was a nightmare, so I downloaded a mod to disable it for the sources that I want to. But, many of my fire sources on the ship are braziers to maximize space
The word "Brazier" originates from a French term meaning "Live Coals", and should be pronounced the same way that you would talk about Braised Meats. A "Brassiere" is a term for women's supportive undergarments, and gave us the word, "Bra".
Nah no worries it's a known thing 😜 sometimes it happens sometimes not, just remove the top wall part opposite the brazier on the far end so the flow of smoke goes out at the end
There's a small chance the piggies will get stuck between the 2 floors, but build it exactly as it is and skip the iron cage walls and it could work. Otherwise what I would do is try to freehand place a wood beam so it is directly underneath the floor under the pigs but flush with the end bit so they can't get stuck on it and prevent them from ending up between the two floors

What are the changes needed to make it compatible with 2 star boars? It's not working in ashlands update.

With the latest public test patch, the smoke does not reliably kill 2* boars or wolves and sometimes kills the cubs/piggies.

Why use iron cages? Why not just use 1x1 wood walls?
That was awesome. Love the build. Is there a reason you use a hanging fire instead of, say, a campfire?
Yes, the smoke moves slower from a hanging fire and also it's wayyyyy more fuel efficient
Great idea and video :)
My boars have grown up, however the smoke doesn't kill them
I had something similar. I just had to move the floor up a little higher and it worked great!

Do they have stars? Starred boars are bigger, and these are basic boars.
Super compact and effective I love it !!
How are you getting the boars to spawn?
The command for that is Spawn Boar followed by the number you want
Which one should I use for 1 star boars?

Carrots are stacking into one stack. Anyone know how to avoid this?
One of my boars isnt eating! Help!!
is it ok that the piggies climb the thatch and get very close to jumping of?
Their hitbox should be too big for them to fit through, if you're having problems narrow the gap by adding some beams above and below
Hey can you do it with campfire? I've yet to get access to iron
Give it a try, but I specifically chose the hanging brazier because it produces about half the amount of smoke than all the other smoke sources
how close can you build them to each other?
I think they have to be at least 10 meters away from each other
why the iron fences?
It's to stop the piggies clipping between the two floors on the way down
Can wood wall act the same way or message board ?
Give it a try, try and keep whatever you use flush with the two floors. You can always just remove it if they get stuck later no biggy
