With Valheim just being released for console (and me being the usual designated architect of the group) I can't wait to really dive into the building and see what kind of awesome structures I can come up with. These tips are definitely going to be used.

One thing about most of these beautiful home building videos is that they mostly all use cheat mode to build and they are almost always in the meadows. Building in the game actually serves a purpose for base defense and a location to use your different workbenches. Cheat mode isn't available on a multiplayer server and all those resources take lots of time to acquire and all that detail brings slower frame rates. So my bit of advice is to try to moderate what you build to be functional and thrifty. That's the real skill to building. Finding that sweet spot where your base is useable and reasonably safe without resorting to the eyesores of making earthen barriers and moats. It's part of the game that can bring a challenge and some fun and not leave you hours of resource gathering and time trying to make pretty buildings. You can always do that in cheat mode on your server or single player game if you just need to showoff. It's just one way to avoid early burn out and loading down a multiplayer server with items and lag.

I've nee playing since it dropped on xbox and I looooooove the building more than any other game I've played. 3 days ago I started a big storage warehouse for me and my buddies so its time consuming but it'll be great when it's done!

I know this is an old comment, but if you still play the game and don’t know you can use right thumb stick (pushed in) to change lock on making it much easier to connect things together. I’m on Xbox, but if your on PS it should be the same I assume.

I did this for a long time, seems an even better way (since it depends on your location) is to stand literally ON the piece you want to be a gradient and level to that. If there''s a high spot on one side and a low spot on the other, you stand ON the slope that is too aggressive and flatten, it will make it less steep (and also lower the high point slightly)

The builds you do are absolutely incredible and I am a huge fan of the cinematic building and showcasing of builds. It is great to be able to have these on in the background while working or doing anything really! I would say that, as a complete trash tier builder myself, I really enjoyed this video as well! I know that the two main issues with doing crazy builds like this in Valheim is that 1. They are extremely labor intensive with planning, building and editing and 2. Valheim has some sparse content drops as well. I personally would love to see you even go back through some of these videos and maybe do voiceovers where you explain just how you are creating some of these great features. If you do have the time, this could effectively "double" your video output (Say you release a cinematic, and the week after you release a duplicate video with the commentary, tips, things that worked and didn't, etc). But again, you would need the time in the first place haha! Either way, the caliber of builds on this channel are second to none, and I will always enjoy the fantastic content you all drop!

I have to say, I LOVE when you and all of the other content creators basically throw down a gauntlet, as if saying: "THERE...I did this! Now you try!" Challenging the rest of us to come up with better and better builds. Essentially making us better builders just by trying to do what all of you do, You and the others always make it look soooo easy. lol Love the builds and if it takes you a while to build and edit the videos, take whatever time you need. Don't burn yourself out trying to force a video out. I will look forward to seeing whatever you put out. They're always amazing. Thanks for making us all better builders. Cheers!

I just started playing Valheim a few weeks back. I'm so glad you're still playing and making videos, because you make really good content. Funny thing is that I live about 30 minutes or so from their studio. Turns out, it's very small group of local college students (about 5 or 6 people) that are developing the game. They've been shocked and by it's popularity ... lol. So it's why they may take a little more time to get new content out. And yes, they do have more content coming very soon. So, everyone be patient with them. I'm so impressed with what they're developed so far and going to be sticking with the game, one, because it's really good, and two, because I like the idea of supporting a small, home grown game developer. It's exciting to watch them grow =)

@bastiat I dunno, I love the realism in this game. Especially with the building, the fact I'm forced to make foundations and structures to keep my house up makes it look even prettier in the end. Basically, the realism feels like just enough to be a nice detail but not so much it's annoying

Sad thing is they don't seem to have bothered investing the millions of $$ they've made into hiring more people or even a Unity consultant to make the game FAR more performant than it is (and it's REALLY bad).
Content still takes years to come out; Mistlands was announced what, 2 years ago? It's finally out, and the game is running EVEN WORSE. And there's still baffling gameplay design decisions they haven't changed in years; stuff that's been the #1 feedback posts on their dev tracker since Feb 2021.
There is no excuse for this with the revenue they've made from the game. It can be so much better than it is, but it's not.

I connected wood beams and poles to it, but it made the interior kinda messy. Also, how do you use core wood for support? Is it like the iron beam one where you connect a few of them for the foundation?

Tip 10, the way I describe it: it's not a bug that gets fixed by raise-ground; the terrain can only be moved so much up or down by the hoe from where it started -- if it isn't moving any more, it's gone as far as it can. Using raise-ground or pickaxe can then bump it a unit up or down, which the hoe then has a new margin for adjustments at that spot.

I worked out getting a cauldron to work over a hanging brazier(with a spice rack, even). For out in the field, I think the campfire over an iron beam method might be better, since less resources to carry around for it and wood is more readily available as a fuel
That aside, the snap trick and leveling bits are quite handy. I will have to remember them.
