Thank you so much for this, was looking for an aesthetically pleasing farm and this one was easily my favourite. Was a little worried about the burning enemies and standing braziers setting everything on fire as since the Ashlands dropped i'm playing with fire hazards turned on, but after a little testing i've found that as long and they aren't placed UNDER any of the wood it's fine (i think the metal cage walls act as a barrier) and they're still covered enough by the little roof bits that rain doesn't put them out, beautiful work!
games like this with PIXEL PERFECT building mechanics should have a "micromovement" button, like...shift, plus right mouse button, that reduces the scroll speed of the mouse to like, one tenth so you can get that perfect allignment from moment to moment.
Fuck I would love that but I know there is a mod that allows it and also puts on your gear in a separate Diablo style inventory so it doesn’t take up space from our actually inventory but I don’t play with mods cuz it’s my first run and I’m 4 bosses in on normal settings so after this play through I’m probably gonna use some QOL mods

Very nice, although I tend to go whole hog on my greydwarf farm so I can use the same facility as a blood magic autotrainer later, which this design cant do. I'm surprised that the spawner keeps spawning though- My experience with the spawners says they stop spawning if there's a roof above them. Any idea why this one doesnt stop spawning even though its roofed? Could it be because its still touching the ground while the pit-style farms arent?
i am running a modded version of ashlands update. i try to make something like this, but the greydwarfs dont take any fire damage from the braiziers. and i cant figure out why. do you have any idea how i can fix that?
Digging a deepish hole nearby and pushing 3 greydwarves into the pit will stop spawns until youre done. Kind of an older tip, but it saved me a lot of time digging it before i started the build
I have 6 in one pit and 4 in another and there still spawning I also built walls and thatch roofs over it to make a shack and I floored it with wood floors and there still spawning you got any tips for me ?
@KC_604 the only thing I could suggest is to go back and recheck your floor height. I got lucky and it worked on the first try for me. Granted, I built mine in survival and took a lot longer to do, but making sure it's as pixel-perfect as you can get it to be to the snaps shown in the vid is what I attribute my success to. I wish I could give you more advice and wish you success on your build 💪
@KC_604 if they are farther than 10m away, they will continue to spawn. The spawner checks go as follows. Is spawner covered by a build piece? If no. Is ground uncovered within a 10m radius of spawner? If yes. is there 3 or greydwarfs in a 10m radius? Answer must be no. If all that criteria is met the spawner will then spawn until.it is not met. Hope this 1 makes sense and 2 helps.
While I do like this build, I do like the ability to shut it on and off. One that just runs non stop can cause FPS drops from too many instances. I also like the pit method' as I use the spawner up top surrounded in marbe and crystal, for decoration. Bit this is a nice design.
i find that the greydwarfs sometimes spawn in between the braziers and then they just stand there. Annoying when returnin from AFK. can u place additional braziers without interfering with the spawn?
Yup you sure can, but what you're describing especially if all 3 greydwarf spawns are standing still and not moving around; is the floor being too close to the ground 🥲
There is a mod that automatically puts ground items into chests as long as there is at least 1 of the item in the chest already. Would work well with this.
Thanks for video! Very nice build) I have a question: what about replacing fires in killing room with pufferwish with its poison? I'm fond of building farms with less then 3 buildings to prevent raids on it, except the wolf event (I can deal with wolf with the moat, for example). And what will be with the farm on video, if, for example, gjall event occurs and you are afk😢?
Funny you should say that 🤣 My original design was made with pufferfish in item stands but then I changed it thinking pufferfish might be too difficult for players to obtain early on

Nice video thx for sharing. Any idea what would cause enemies to spawn outside the kill box?? I have rebuilt a couple times and keep having the occasional spawn outside the box.
Heya, yes the core wood beams at the top that the roof clips on to helps against that, you can change them to 4m ones that run all along the top frame to ensure they don't spawn inside the wall.
He's in Ghost mode (look up devcommands if you need to know) for the purpose of the guide. Put a workbench and whatever else you need (forge, stonecutter) on a nearby platform to keep those out of range while building in survival, and defend yourself. :-)
I'm in Ghost mode but I remove it when making the example, trolls won't attack the structure if they don't have sight on you or the build pieces that they aggro towards so everything inside the farm is safe. (The troll raid event will still wreck you though)
@@Zerger You can use the hoe to build up a natural stone wall around the entire structure. Shouldn't be able to attack through it or lock onto it if it's high enough all around.

Couldn't you cover the spawner with a roof in this build to turn it off?
@chrisjones6002 Yes, you can do that. You can also use doors to turn it on and off, but that's if you are using MODs, like gizmo.

Yup that's right, I use good old pufferfish in a lot of my other farms
The greydwarfs keep spawning like within 8-10m from the spawner, wtf? No one spawned inside the killing chamber, any idea?
The height of the ground is important, about 75% of a half wall is the height you want

For this farm if you dont have access to a sconce you can dig down i pil and place a hearth and it'll work fine

I think I figured it out. The core wood beams on the corners of the cage helps keep the enemies inside. Working better since I did that.

Yup raids will still wreck you unless you build defences like earth walls

MOST of the time, they spawn inside the kill room, but every now and then a random one spawns inside the house ... idk why ..
i was seeing the same thing until i changed the core wood poles at the roof above the cage to 4m poles
Iv revuilt it a few times a d i only get like 1 every so ofter like 10m apart and its exact to the video
Kill any greydrawfs in the area, the spawner only spawns maximum 3 then stops
