I give this farm two drumsticks up!

for everyone having trouble with their chickens not wanting to turn upright, for me it was the roof o-corner 45 degree pieces that poke the chickens butt.
as soon as i took those out, the chickens would turn upright, eat, and make eggs.
i just put a 2 meter wall piece where they'd be originally, and move them on top of those.
Update: May 2024 and it's working. Thank you for this easy and simple design.
The Hen's simply wont move over the checkered area, I built mine identical to the one in the video. After there's a certain amount of hens the top floor hens stops making eggs.
The simplest explanation is you didn't build it exactly like the one here or it would be working.
I have built two versions of this pen, exactly as shown, step by step to make sure I didnt miss anything. I run a collection of items mod so I don't need to personally pick up everything. My first build is an egg producer only, and comprises of the top of this build, from the part the chickens sit on and drop eggs to the floor below..... no culling area as its just an egg farm... works fine, but had some initial problems.
The second build is exactly as shown apart from I have an alternative fire source nearby so don't need to build the brazier part. The chickens do not eat the food, placed where its shown in this video.
Both farms are the same from the feeding part, but the chickens won't eat the seeds, in the full build.... I cannot figure out why
Very creative. The chicks have a larger hit box than the hens so they won't fall through the smaller checkerboard holes. When they become hens, the hit box is smaller so they will fall down through the holes.
Precisely, it's odd but if it works it works
Where do you go to find specific information like this. I have been trying to find info about hit box sizes, where the egg spawns relative to the hen and the exact conditions it needs to lay one, etc...
@@1234567895182 Well im just gonna take a guess now. I remmember i read just before Ashland dropped that people stared noticied in the code that Ashland stuff is slowling being added to the game. New content and such. Maybe its there people see it? If they know how to see it in the game files?
Other than that im just guessing trial and error? see how hit boxes seem to be on chicks/hens.
@@1234567895182the thing about a game with a smaller audience like this one is, there aren't mathematicians measuring every single thing and boiling the game down to its base code. I don't know the prerequisite for those kinds of people to spawn but valheim hasn't met that criteria yet.
Didnt know this still worked! Had a chick farm last i played but as i read this got patched :O I just used up 5k coins on chicks that walked into fire... forgot that suicidal thing they have... Gonna try this as fast i can get my hands on 2 chiks thanks!
Aye like moths to the flame 🤣
ive wasted a lot of time checking one important stuff on this vid: how to exactly place the breeding chickens surroundings. If this would be an article, i'd use up to 5 minutes of my time. What a time to be alive.
i love your vibes thanks for the design man its working great
My hens don't slide into the breeding spots like yours does. They get stuck just above and I can't place the floor on top of them.
I have rebuilt this twice exactly as is in video, both chickens are facing up but they will not eat. Seeds are placed between them on the gate above. Im not sure what is wrong. Another player on the server has built this as well and has no problems.
That even looks nice! Cool!
I build this one but different location instead of inside my base , one problem : the place where the egg from the breeding pair drop , as i teleport around using portal , the chick hatch from these eggs have tendency of glitch through the floor and land on 45 degree roof thus sliding into the puffer fish , it is like 1 in 10 chicks .
My Chickens/hens are not moving over the checkerboard section so they don't fall through consistently. Also I had a chicken fall through. Any suggestions?
I keep having problems when my chicks hatch I throw the eggs on top floor but once they hatch they spawn outside, any tips on how to fix this?
In your previous video you mentioned sticky bait is used to fish up pufferfish, correct? Where do we find pufferfish though?
Recently I've seen them in the water randomly but they're supposed to be around the mistlands biome. I think it's sticky 🤔 Regular bait and a lox trophy
@@Zerger Its misty bait you want.
Ah, thank you
Can a second farm be built attached to this one (only for eggs) or will it mess up the chicken pathing?
Can do, but not attached directly next to it. You'll need at least 10m space between the chickens groups so they don't detect one another to avoid reaching the mob cap
The farm is kinda working thanks :) The only Issue I'm facing is that the chickens and hens are not walking over the chese like floor and therefor they only fall down when they get pushed, making it really slow. I've gone over the build now multiple times and can't find any differences... Do you have any tipps?
same issue
@@arzrael7473 I fixed it by adding another small beam and large beam under the egg roof and then breaking the small one, just like you did for the other two after placing the roof
this worked for me once, and hasn't worked since, chickens stay hungry
Make sure nothing is obstructing the top floor space and it's the size I mentioned
Update. Chickens don't die in cold anymore. Nothing happens
hi, can i delete log poles after completing the building? =)
I have made the on the top floor exactly the same twice now but my hens keep facing downwards and don’t eat any seeds. Any tips?
They mate a few times until they run out of food and that’s it. Everything else functions perfectly besides the feed
Test it by throwing down the food again then remove any walls/doors/roof that you placed so it's only the floor by itself at the top. If it works then your problem is there
I'm curious about what the purpose of the two "wings" sticking out of the cage are for? With the pillars there, the chicks can't seem to fit into that space at all.
It's to give more space when the eggs pile up so the chicks don't clip through the walls when they hatch but at the same time making that floor space invalid for their pathing to keep them walking around over the gaps. Otherwise they stand still in that area and don't move around
Thank you 🙏
Does this work against all raids? (bat raids in specific cuz those are the worst). If not, how would you fix that issue?
Yup, I tested all 4 my boar, wolf, lox and this one with bat and drake raids and they weren't attacked
it's still working!!
Next time you should add a list of materials you need to do it, other than that great video
are the eggs supposed to stay on the roof?
they are not falling down to the second floor on my build so i was wondering
No they are supposed to drop down but I've had it before that 3 or so pile up then after they hatch the issue resolved itself
They're stuck for me in the corner above the brazier. They never move at all, and I built your design twice. Has anyone been able to fix this and get them to move on the floor? Should I make that part checkered as well? As am just out of thoughts..
For those of you still facing the same issue, break the roofs above the brazier, and it'll work just fine!
Thanks for leaving your feedback for others who might have the same issue 👌🏻
my chickens turned around and i dont know how to fix them. They made 3 eggs then turned. How do i fix it?
If they turned there's something obstructing the floor space on the top floor. Make sure the floor is the same size as mine
EVERYONE THAT SAYING IT DOESN'T WORK READ THIS
1. IT DOES WORK
2. WHEN THE CHICKENS CATCH THEY WONT FALL THROUGH.
3. THE GAME DEVS DON'T WANT TO GAME TO BE REALLY DARK SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY GROW UP THEN THEY FALL
4. GIVE IT SOME TIME FOR ALL CHICKENS TO CATCH IT WORKS GREAT.
I HOPE THIS HELPS I JUST BUILT IT 3 HOURS AGO AND ITS INSANE
Is it normal that the chicken, after they drop can stay on the 45 roof?
How can i fix this?
If you mean the roof that the breeding pair sit on and where the eggs drop on over yes, sometimes one chicken will sit there but it will be pushed off by the rolling eggs later on
What do you change to make this just an egg farm? - Remove the brazier? And leave a clear drop path for eggs to the first floor?
Yes that's about right, basically just build the top layer and nothing else. I'll make a new video in the future I think for a basic chicken coop/egg hut
I made this. But my hens don't take the seeds 🙁 they turn the other way
Check your floor at the top is the size I mentioned. If that's ok remove any walls you've built or anything surrounding it that could be obstructing their pathing
@@ZergerI think that's the problem. It seems to be top layer. When I remove top layer roof and walls They are eating normally. When I buit it again they stop eating 🙁
Did you cover the 2 hens with two 1x1 iron rails? I built this design and it's working fine. The seeds should fall on the iron 1x1 cover.
Will you be able to get eggs from this aswell?
You could modify it I suppose, if you kill the heat source to stop the hatching on the second floor but this farm was really made specifically for chicken meat and feathers
Are the chickens meant to stack and get stuck in the second layer?
Nope, any World War Z-like activities are strictly prohibited in this farm
@@Zerger What I'm finding is the chicks are stacking. When they turn from chicks to chickens they then get permanently wedged there, stuck in the corners, not able to move. Built it exactly the same though. Very odd.
Just some of them or all of them? I'm wondering if the pathing is somehow messed up
@@Zerger I made it too and I have 8 hens in lvl 2. They aren't really moving around to fall through the holes.
Yup, it's the pathing. It's really sensitive, you'll just have to keep comparing and find what the difference between yours and mine is. It's really frustrating trust me I know
Does it still work in the new version?
