I just put together an AR in 6.5 Grendel, for deer hunting.. while 22 caliber is legal where I live (NE) I prefer something with more bullet weight, so.. I have some 223 and 22-250 loads (and rifles) ready in case I change my mind, but figured I'll try the 6.5 G first ;)

Agree with the price scanner being painful, I’d bet it’s caused more than a few to have chest pain or pass out! I do hate those big staples they put in cases of ammo or other heavy boxes, I’ve got a heck of a scar on my hand from loosing a fight with one.
That charging handle looks like a Breek Arms WarHammer. I’ve had great luck with those. Ambi, smooth and when shooting suppressed the gas gets steered away from my face. Sweet looking bing bang!
At almost 70 I have more need for a cheesesteak sub than an moa sub these days but I enjoy your videos. I do wonder if the ARC caliber will be popular enough for production to continue.
The colt AR 15 can continually hold a sub of a minute of angle and been on the market for a long time but in the last 5 years its been the hottest thing in hunting.
Building a 6 Arc now waiting on +3 gas tube. I think these arc rounds will be like my 12" grendel I've been hunting with the past 6 yrs. Can't wait to see your results on the 22 ARC 😊
I'm 70+ and been hunting (and occasionally shooting whitetails) since 1962, first with one grandpa's 30-40 Krag, then the other grandpa's pre-'64 Model 94 30-30, then brother's Savage 308, and now an uncle's hand-me-down Sako 270. Most kicked like a mule, and I'm ready for a lighter recoil rifle. Maybe an AR in 22 or 243?
Only viable option for running 22 arc is to reload it yourself. I’ve never seen it in store so after ordering you’re almost 3x more expensive than a .223 and still more expensive than a 308. I don’t see 22 arc really catching on hunting wise.
They had an awesome hunting rifle in the r15 chambered in 30ar also. The reason it failed was due to lack of advertising. Nobody knew it existed. I've been trying to find a used one but can't.
I had the original R25 and was a tack driver, took many deer with it. Stupidly traded for a lighter AR 308 from another manufacturer. Wish I had never traded it
Very cool rifle. I would hunt with an AR but my caliber of choice in that rifle would be 6.8 Remington SPC. It's essentially a short .270 designed to fit in the AR platform. It's used by a lot of hog hunters but I'm positive it will catch a deer. Please consider trying one out.
I have a Ruger Gen 2 Predator in 22 ARC, not impressed at all with factory ammo, the Hornady ammo may disappoint you. The 62 grain shot the best, barely under an inch, the 75 and 88 shot at best 1.5 inches.

Those 88 ELDM, even though they don't say for hunting, will be amazing on game. Hornady does not advertise them for hunting, but they do all the gel testing for their LE ammunition and they are fantastic for deer size game.

I would hunt with an AR especially for coyotes. My brother was going to sell me his AR in 350 L but changed his mind. So now I’m ordering that 360 BH instead. I listened to a Backcountry Hunting podcast with JVB and he had one of the Hornady guys on talking about hunting Africa with the 22 ARC and 22 Creedmoor and gave really great reviews within certain limitations. Definitely worth a listen
I love my AR in .450 BM. I bought it for hunting whitetail in Michigan. Got an upper for my varmint and slapped a nice scope on it. It shoots under 1 MOA. Dropped every deer I’ve hit within 50 yards. I went with the AR platform bc it’s something I’m familiar with from my military experience and bc of how customizable they are for an affordable price. I think I had 600 into my full rig including the ammo. Nice grab my man. 👍🏽
Downside to the 22arc is the freebore in the chamber, makes the rifles more finicky than other cartridges. Also I would check out the new 70gr hornady CX ammo they're releasing, that would be great Bing bang fuel for that rifle. As well as trying those ELDm bullets on deer, I know several hunters who hunt with 6arc and do splendidly with the 108gr eldm

Many states allow .22 rifles for deer hunting however my personal opinion is the smaller the caliber the more difficult job you’ll have tracking a wounded animal, even if the shot will be fatal. I’ve experienced deer harvested with a .243 up to a .308 and the average wound channel and consequently the blood loss is usually greater with the larger calibers. Plus I believe that the more energy carried by the projectile the greater the hydrostatic shock and thus the more damage inflicted on the animal. I know the trend is to allow smaller .22 caliber size weapons to be used since more hunters are owning AR style rifles. My concern is that the game is owed a clean, quick dispatch by ethical hunters and any misplaced shot from a smaller caliber projectile will result in injured and not recovered game.
Nice AR. Blackhound scopes are great. I will have to check this company out. I may be the only man left in America that only has 2 AR rifles lol. 5.56 and a 6 ARC.
You should get the 7.62 yahweh. It more or less has the power of a 308. But can shoot the 7.62x39 as well. So you don’t have to change anything. And it’s all in an ar-15 size gun.
I picked 223 and 22-250 as my 22 cals a long time ago and don't plan to change up all my reloading now; but maybe this is the deal for teenagers just starting their hunting lives? And for AR hunting I built a few 6.5 Grendel rigs so I'm not moving off those in my lifetime. And they're a half MOA so I'm fine with that. But for new hunters; looks like a nice solution. 80 grains tho? My Grendel uses 120 grain Nosler ballistic tip rounds.

Nice rifle. ARs can be very accurate. I have one with a White Oaks Armament barrel in 6.8 SPC II and a Rockriver national match trigger that will shoot .75 inch groups when I do my part.
I took a PSA lower I upgraded and ordered a 16” cold hammer forged 7.62x39 upper from bear creek. I can hit the same hole over and over. Their cold hammer forged barrels are legit.
I’ve been looking at the possibility of an upper in 6mm ARC so that I can swap back and forth between my 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC since they share the same magazines. I wonder if they would sell a complete upper.
Hey Adam, have you ever done a 224 Valkyrie video? I cannot remember if you have. I use this caliber as a do all round. I coyote hunt with it and I use it for varmint and long range target.
Great ammunition, I have one on 22Arc as well but mustly use for competition or training with kids n teens (wife also love it, n says it her weapon😅), the bullets are lasers with minimal drops n wind drift. Sadly do to the powder shortage Hornedy changed their powder mix from the factory amo n performed velocity in particular was affect n they didn’t disclose it n a big controversy was made. That said if u reload or find the proper factory ammunition for u rifle u Golding. It extremely similar to shooting a P90 or other 5.7 rifle or carabiner but it deals 2-3 times the energy on impact since it has a hackers n bigger bullets bout have a similar ballistic under 300.
Yep, I have some bca stuff, they make ones in .06, .270 and 22-250, pretty impressive actually. I just see no reason to get long actions in these platforms myself. But that's just my opinion.
Nice rifle..... staying on the scope with a bolt rifle is hard.... easier with a Lee action, and I had a Brno (CZ) years ago that could be operated that way...
I thought maybe you had a .277 sig coming out of the box haha. Id rather fling a grendel round myself, but you might get .22-250 energy from that? Guess we'll see.
Where did they mark the caliber of the rifle? With the Armalite Rifle (AR) platform, it would be easy to assume the incorrect caliber. I suppose you could do that with most rifles if not marked, on the barrel for example.
Ultimate Reloader did a video comparing ELDX to the ELD Match... ballistic gel tests and all... you should check it out. It's eye opening about the capabilities of both. Personally, I only handload with the ELDXs, but that's because I get better accuracy out of them and typically in the calibers I shoot they have higher BCs too.
@@WHOTEEWHO difference between the x and m are jacket thickness. In calibers such as the 6.5 Grendel, by the time you hit 300, depending on your load, the velocity has dropped to a point to not reliably expand the x’s. I only reload m’s for low performance cartridges, no issues to date.

I’ve been looking at the possibility of an upper in 6mm ARC so that I can swap back and forth between my 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC since they share the same magazines. I wonder if they would sell a complete upper.
Thanks for your info from a fellow Tennessean!
Thanks for watching
Hey Adam, have you ever done a 224 Valkyrie video? I cannot remember if you have. I use this caliber as a do all round. I coyote hunt with it and I use it for varmint and long range target.
I have. Took it long range
@@WHOTEEWHO I'll have to look it up. Thanks Man.
Should be ideal if youre using the long bullets it was designed around. Thats really about it's only advantage over something like a 224 valkyrie.
Sweet looking rifle. Great video
Hear me out… it looks like the Remington R15 if they would’ve kept it around and kept innovating it through out the years.
That looks like a lot of run!
Now that's my speed! Thanks for doing a test on a Gas Gun! 👍🏻🇺🇸✌🏻
👍really like the color of that rifle I enjoyed the show
Thanks for watching
She sure is pretty. Love that scope.
Hey man love your videos. I've been looking for a rifle like this one but in 30-06. Do you know of any???
Off the top of my head, I do not
Bear Creek Arsenal makes a 30-06 AR10. Nemo arms might make one too. Nemo arms can be found in 300wm and 338wm for sure. Pricey though.
Yep, I have some bca stuff, they make ones in .06, .270 and 22-250, pretty impressive actually. I just see no reason to get long actions in these platforms myself. But that's just my opinion.
YES!!!!! Waiting on mine… ordered an APF 2.0 Varmint!!!!
Sweeeeet
Looks great xden
Seriously considering this caliber. Probably will buy the Ruger Predator 2
Whotee, have you done any videos on bear creek arsenal?
Nice rifle..... staying on the scope with a bolt rifle is hard.... easier with a Lee action, and I had a Brno (CZ) years ago that could be operated that way...
I thought maybe you had a .277 sig coming out of the box haha.
Id rather fling a grendel round myself, but you might get .22-250 energy from that? Guess we'll see.
I hunt with nothing but ARs mostly…. 6.5 Grendel and 300 blackout
Where did they mark the caliber of the rifle? With the Armalite Rifle (AR) platform, it would be easy to assume the incorrect caliber. I suppose you could do that with most rifles if not marked, on the barrel for example.
Not sure how many AR makers claim sub-MOA, but I have a Christensen Arms CA5FIVE6. They guarantee sub-MOA.
Nice coyote setup
Alright, that seems like a really nice rifle
Ultimate Reloader did a video comparing ELDX to the ELD Match... ballistic gel tests and all... you should check it out. It's eye opening about the capabilities of both.
Personally, I only handload with the ELDXs, but that's because I get better accuracy out of them and typically in the calibers I shoot they have higher BCs too.
I've seen it. He is a friend of mine. Still are many people who have had bad luck with it for hunting
