DIY License Plate Planer Boards for Trolling / EASY & CHEAP

I've been doing quite a bit of trolling for striper lately and I needed a solution to keep my lines from tangling. I've been looking into planer boards but I hated to spend the money on manufactured ones when they seem pretty easy to make myself. I set out to make my own with materials I already had sitting around the house and in the garage.

I used small binder paper clips. You know the black squeezy kind. With two little pieces of quarter inch aquarium air hose to grip the fishing line. Just in case you’re close pins don’t work.

Yes, but they work better when trimmed down a little smaller. The design works and delivers the bait out nice and wide. Trolling speed must be kept really low with the full size license plate design. I've been meaning to post an update video, but I've been really busy.

@@wfrederick2501 Would you trim down the height or the length, how would you remake them if you did it again? Thanks for posting this, wish I could see how well they work.
