Great video and easy explanation, thanks bud. I'm from south Texas and never used planer boards and was toying with the idea of slow trolling from my kayak. After watching this now I want to give it a shot for some flatheads or big blues. You ever tried slow trolling live bluegill or gizzard shad from the planers?

How do you determine the size planner board needed for the sinker and bait weights ? I primarily fish Ohio river cannelton pool using average sinker weight around 8oz. Sorry if this is a dumb question or asked incorrectly, but thanks for any reply and advice

Sorry for the delayed response. We also fish the Ohio, we have been dragging baits with up to 6oz dragging sinkers and large baits with no issues. The boards are extremely buoyant and most time still stay afloat even when a fish is on so I wouldnt be concerned with bait and sinker weights.
