To ironic - I literally just super glued mine down before watching this video. Dave - those screws will loosen - they do on all brands. Water Proof Loctite or super glue will help keep them from constantly coming loose brother!

I might give this a try some day, the last 50 years chasing cats I stayed old school like I was taught. Now that I have my new to me boat set up am going to start trying drifting and suspend drifting, I think I`ll get used to that first,,lol.

Everyone seems to have their own way of hooking up a planer board. I have found that it works best for me to throw my bait out about 20 yards, then I hook my board to line. Then I stagger my plane boards at different distances from the boat. That method seems to work best for me.
I’ll have to try them boards if I ever fish big water. Where I fish now they would drag on bank of each side of the bayou (ditch). Dave was a little late posting this one, I was beginning to think he was on his honeymoon!

Dave, I've hooked Catfish on planer boards at speeds as high as 2.5 MPH while trolling for Walleye on Lake Erie. Don't be afraid to up the speed a few tenth of a MPH.
Ain't but 2 fish in Ft Loudon, and you caught all 3 of them 😉. Gotta work on my dang boat motor this morning. I hate missing the last 2 Spring bites because of motor troubles and I can't afford to pay some marine mechanic to work on a cheap boat! Gonna have to start making youtube videos to make some money to afford a better boating setup here.
You need to be moving a bit faster for planer boards to work. That’s called trolling. They aren’t for just drifting bait. Honestly not great for catfish. Good for walleye though.

It seems planer boards can make a positive difference...however, they seem distracting, reeling in a fish with that board getting in the way, flopping all over the place. No thanks.

I don’t like using planer boards, it’s something else to keep up with in the boat, and fly out when I’m doing 60. After some cold ones the least amount of stuff to keep up with the better I’m doing. I’m not a doctor I don’t have patience.

Those boards are crazy high for foam and there drift weights are also stupid high you can buy other places alot cheaper

The ash spill was below fort loudoun. It was in watts bar and the fishing is way better there

My baits are on bottom. The planer boards just give you a wider spread
