Localization mishandling the content they're given to work on is at least as old as Godzilla. It'll never stop being relevant as long as localizers think they know better.

Yeah, "AI translated" media in practice just means that you have an underpaid translator with almost no time to do all the work because they "just have to clean up the AI translation". But if you've ever had the sad and frustrating experience to have to correct someone else's translation, you'd know it's way more work than do it from scratch.

Localizers are like referees. If you remember them after the game, they done fucked up. If they did a good job, you didn't notice. If people start asking for robots, it means you guys are fucking up so often that people will take soulless but accurate over whatever you add.

Yep, machine translation has been used for years, especially when fan translations are included.
Because it means the heavy lifting can be done by a machine, then tranlsators and editors have a lot less work to do.
Us: "Just be faithful to the original work, provide accurate translations"
Them: "You ask for too much. This is impossible."
There’s a balance between “faithfulness” and “sounding good”, and there are genuinely times where the latter is more important

Every time Lucy makes a video, it's the most well thought out arguments about complex subject matter while also being the most degenerate thing I've seen that day. Very based.
She really didn't give very well thought out arguments in this video, she just gives a very knee jerk reaction to things that just don't matter. Localization has been a thing for years and sometimes things get changed in the english dub, this has always been a thing and the anime industry isn't in any danger. This video is what a nonissue looks like.

In the Spanish speaking world, when an anime gets localized, it's usually by giving certain characters either accents or straight up giving them slangs, like how Denji in Chainsaw Man talks in the Spanish dub like a Mexican. It works because 1. it's funny as shit and 2. it gives a new side to the character without making it incoherent with their personality. And you can take my work when I say that it never gets political, even for politically chaotic countries like Argentina.
Thats how it works in spanish and english localizations.
Also What i dont like is like some brazilians defending this english localizers without even knowing what is happening

I only get my anime from fansub groups as I trust them more than any website like Crunchyroll. Though I suppose if a dub is bad there's not a whole lot you can do about it.
Yea unfortunate that the person she showed now works at Crunchyroll [I believe] because Funimation and Crunchyroll merged (really they burned the Funimation branding to the ground (by their VAs shit talking fans) and basically ditched it for Crunchyroll's brand's cleaner reputation).
