無鹽奶油 unsalted butter 100g / 8Tbsp
糖霜 powdered sugar 30g / 1/3cup
香草籽膏 vanilla bean paste 1/2tsp
中筋面粉 plain flour 140g / 1cup
玉米粉 cornstarch 20g / 2Tbsp
烤模 Pan Size 14x14cm
摄氏160 / 华氏320 烘烤 30-35分钟
bake at 160°C / 320°F for 30-35 minutes

Made this and it was amaze...iiiing. For those asking if you don’t have vanilla bean paste just substitute with vanilla extract . Equal quantity or add a little bit more for more vanilla richness. Baked mine for 30mins. Thanks for this recipe

My late husband is from Scotland he introduced me to Scottish Shortbread he bought from Marks And Spencers it was quite good but when we flew back to his Town in Falkirk and we went to Edinburgh and taste what the locals has instored wow .. the freshly baked shortbread is one of a kind .. 💗💗💗

Shortbread is usually just 3 ingredients (plus a pinch of salt) so this is very interesting! I will try this version, thanks for making this video and posting it!

did u have problems with pressing the dough into the cake pan? mine was really difficult to press. i had to use my fists and both hands, so i was wondering if the starch made it that hard. or what is the corn starch good for? (btw the shortbread turned out well tho)
Hello. Did you replace the cornstarch with plain flour, or you just skipped it?
@@frchristie no i did use corn starch. that's why i was wondering if it makes the dough harder.
It's not the starch. You may have overworked the dough by kneading it either to hard or too long...

Very good recipe, will have to bake it again, due to popular demand in my family. i baked it for 25 minutes at gas level 5. Let the shortbread sit in a sealed cookie jar for 2 days and it becomes even better, melting in your mouth. 1 batch of vanilla sugar was perfect, as i did not have vanilla beans. For a full oven tray you will have to quadrouple the ingredients. Would recommend it to a friend. :-)

I made this recipe today and it was super easy and amazing. I am a beginner and it was my first cookie/biscuit ever. I added half a tsp of salt. It's just a little too crumbly. It'll break if I don't pick it up super gently. The only thing that's a little bit difficult is to press the dough evenly and nicely in the cake pan.
It might be a bit too bland for some people but considering it's a traditional British cookie to eat with tea, it's pretty spot-on.
@lyh01 it must be that crumbly. That's the idea of shortbread...
