    I also have a 2019 Ram Limited with 69,000 miles. I also had the exhaust manifold issue just on the passenger side so far. Happened around 63,000 miles, had extended warranty also so it cost me $0 to fix. The only other issue I had and it was a huge problem but it finally got fixed was water leaking into my cab. My drivers side carpet was wet under the floor mat and back carpet was wet on both sides. I had to take it to the dealer 6 different times to get the leaks fixed. The leaks happened the first time it rained after purchasing it new. They had to take off front drivers side fender and add more seam seal to fix front leak. They back leak was finally fixed after they replaced the back window with a new one. The only other issue I had was having both power folding side mirrors replaced due to a popping grinding noise when I used them. Mirrors were replaced under warranty. Other than that the truck has been very solid, no mechanical issues, no issues with any of the electrical or interior. At
    this point I would definitely purchase another Ram. I love the interior, all the tech and the air ride.

    for every yin there's a yang. You have 150k and I only got 20k on my 2019 CC Laramie 4x4. I custom ordered it new and living here in Michigan, I oil spray the undercarriage every Fall with Krown 1yr and NH Oil the next. Krown is thinner and creeps better but wears off faster so that's why every other yr I get it sprayed with NH Oil which is thicker oil. She sits in the barn most of the time looking pretty as this is not my daily driver but even at 20k the left exhaust manifold just started popping this past winter. I took it to dealer in March and was told parts are on NATIONAL BACKORDER and they have no idea when a replacement manifold will be in. It is now May 4th and still nothing. I also had a wind leak since new from the driver side door only in crosswinds tho. They replaced the door seal and that seemed to take care of the problem. I also had a CEL light on around 14k and they had to replace the charcoal canister evap system for the fuel tank. At that time they also had to replace passenger front seat belt because it would not retract back into the b pillar. I also have been plagued with a cricket like noise the dealer can't seem to fix coming from the left front brake at creeping speeds when tapping on the brake. They have lubricated the slides and adjusted the pads but its still there and now am being told this is normal. Royal Purple HPS 5w30 and been used exclusively since the break in oil was taken out at 1500 miles. Some will cry that you should only use 5w20 cause that's what the owners manual says well the owner's manual also says this truck with the 5.7 Hemi needs to use gasoline with the octane rating is 89 and how many people reading this only use 87. People are quick to point the finger when it suits them and look the other way when it doesn't. I'm old school and 5-20 is too thin for my tastes especially if you own your own truck and want it lasting 20yrs 200k plus. Only reason car manufacturers are using it is because of political bs with EPA MPG requirements to squeeze 1 to 2% better fuel economy but wearing out your engine quicker. Not once have I had an issue with the MDS running 5w30. Out of the the 1/2 ton trucks built today I still think Ram is on top, followed by Ford F150 with the V8 only, then Nissan, GM then Tundra last. Not a fan of DI engines and turbos or water pumps driven by timing chains.

  • @JasPlun
    @JasPlun 8 місяців тому +5

    Ram is probably the best truck you can get with what is being produced right now. Ford and GM have both had a lot of problems and early engine failures. Lots of leaks and other irritating defects. The Ram 6.4l HEMI has been damn reliable for us. My company uses them and they are worked hard and for the type of work we do it requires lots of idling and lots of heavy hauling going through Oil and Gas lease roads and they have held up really well. Yeah we had a couple die from the camshaft/lifter bug, but both after 150k miles. After the 150k mile mark we saw some things going on like water pumps wearing out etc. All were regular wear and tear issues. Had 2 trucks need new TIPM units and a couple needed fuel pumps. Got 12 new trucks coming in so we are happy with the service they give us and for the price they are less than Ford and GM. Only Gripe I have is they seem to have patents out on all their parts so your forced to go to the dealers for many parts.

    • @JasPlun
      @JasPlun 6 місяців тому

      We run a fleet and had few problems with them and we work the dog out of them in the Oil and Gas Utilities sector. We have ran 6.4l HEMI engines and lost 2 of them due to employees not getting service intervals done. Still got 170k miles out of them pulling 4k lbs. tanks full of water and lots of idle time in South Texas heat. We have not run into major problems other than that. We have seen a couple need fuel pumps early and we have had a couple water pumps die, but that is normal wear and tear. We outfit them with Truck Air Bags to help stabilize out weight loads and they go up and down rough Oil lease roads 5-6 days a week 10-14 hours a day. I have seen Chevy trucks losing engines before 100k miles and seen Fords dropping around 100-150k miles. My current work truck has 175k hard miles and it recently needed a radiator and a Tipm replaced. None are as good as they once were but I will take a 6.4l Hemi any day over a GM or Ford with Turbo chargers and I am a GM man too. My personal vehicle is a 2003 Sierra. The 6.4l is still old style no turbo garbage on them. That is just from our personal experiences with them. My new 2024 will be ready in 2-3 weeks its another 6.4l I will update this on it because I do expect issues this time coming out of the pandemic mess. The 2 in the fleet we lost due to Hemi lifter/camshaft was one out of 14. It had 160k miles on it so we got a lot of use out of it. I am not brand loyal but lean towards Toyota they just do not make a heavy duty truck we need. I am strictly going off @@bryanmiller5692

    Thanks for a good review. Two of the things you mention, air suspension and air vented seats, are things you can avoid by choosing a lower trim level. The fuel pump sounds to me like wear and tear related to hard use, but I could be wrong.

I started hearing one of the manifolds ticking away a month ago, so ill need that fixed too. Other than that I love it. I've shared the below comment before with this channel and series. I'm posting it again for those who are having issues with the A/C. The TSB number is included as well.
    I have a 5th Gen and the A/C was terrible. Found out about the TSB #24-001-20 and took it in for service because it was still under warranty. It took the dealer nearly a month to fix it because Mopar sent them the parts that still had the defect in them, so they were never removed from inventory. Then they got the right parts in but still had trouble figuring it all out. Eventually they got everything working. That dealer's service department, however, was incompetent at best. The test I used to prove it to the dealer that the TSB needed to be done was using an A/C temp probe and recording the differences in temp between the two center console vents. The driver's side was pushing out air that was 8 to 10 degrees (F) warmer than the passenger side. If I remember correctly it has something to do with the blend door controller and a module basically not mixing the air correctly and not properly sending the right volume of air to the vents based on the user setting, ie all of the air out of the dash vents or dash vents with floor vents. The TSB also replaces some other parts in the heater core as well. Unfortunately, by the time I got it back we really only had one more hot enough day here where I could fully test the A/C in direct sunlight. It was noticeably better. Prior to the A/C TSB the driver's side was blowing out around 52F and the passenger side was about 44F. After the A/C TSB was complete both sides were down to around 42F and the temp was still going down a bit. The truck also seemed to cool down a bit faster as well.

    2020 Ram 1500 Limited w/15K miles and have had three items warrantied. The driver's side Rambox popped open by itself randomly, a clicking steering wheel when turning and the rear window leak. There were no visible cracks or signs of stress in the plastic surrounding the window but they did find "hidden cracks" when they pulled it (Dealer replaced it outside the 12/12K rear window warranty btw). The steering wheel still clicks even after they replaced a broken clock spring, but not as loud or often, so will have to get that looked at again. The Rambox issue was a solid fix as it has never happened again since. Still my favorite truck of all the brands I've owned.

Took quite awhile to get a new tank (supply chain issues); I’ve also replaced both exhaust manifolds already and I’m at 32k. I live in NM so we don’t get remarkably cold. I have a squeek on the driver side over small bumps and found it to be my break caliper clip. I don’t understand why they aren’t putting different manifolds on these trucks. Thanks for the video I’ll always tune in.

    I have a 2019 Laramie 1500 4x4 5.7 and I always hear a single pop sound when I start the vehicle and the dealer says that it is normal, even after they checked the motor mounts and manifolds. When I release the parking brake, it seems to go away at times (intermittent), which is really strange. The other thing that is very strange about the vehicle is that the steering wheel is just slightly off to the right, even though the alignment is perfect with how it drives and the tires seems fine with the wear. Not to mention that Hemi tick during cold startups, but sounds better after it is warm and dealer says there are no leaks or broken manifold bolts, that they are torqued to spec!
    I'm seriously thinking about getting quality after market shorty headers (stainless steel) and a 6.2 liter oil pump to increase oil pressure through the journals. I've always heard that the 6.2 liter oil pump will bolt up directly with no issues and will increase the pressure to the lifters/upper cam lobes to solve the premature wear that can happen.
    What are your thoughts on these issues???... Thanks!

    I also have a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn with the Off Road Package. I tow a lot and it does well.
    I had a bolt break on a connection in the exhaust system a couple of months ago. I now have a cracked right side exhaust manifold. I have about 65k miles. They have told me the manifold is back ordered and they have no idea when it will come in. I do have the lifetime warranty so other than my deductible, it will be covered.
    I think everyone I know who owns a 5.7 Hemi has had the exhaust manifolds cracked. It is really hard for me to understand how a manufacturer can simply refuse to correct a known defective part and keep producing a defective part. I am actually quite surprised there hasn't been some sort of law suit.
    With that said, I know every brand has it's issues, but I wonder if I will purchase another Ram after this one. The manifold issue (no part available when they continue to build thousands of Hemi equipped trucks), and the refusal to correct a known problem has me mad enough where I may look elsewhere when it is time for a new truck.

    Looking to replace my 2018 5.3 Z71. 4cyl shutdown (MDS) oiling issues, torque converter/transmission failures, oil consumption and other reasons will have me looking elsewhere. Nice to hear this about your truck. Yeah, manifolds cracking sucks, but compared to engine rebuilds, transmission replacements, not too bad at all!!! P.S. wonder if your neighbors sit around wondering why the guy next door is driving around the yard again?!? LOL

      My 2015 Silverado LTZ transmission was horrible. I took it to a local transmission shop, they rebuilt it with upgraded torque convertor and reprogrammed the computer to stop the cylinder deactivation. Truck runs much better now!!! I did this work at about 160,000 miles have 167m now. I was ready to sell it until I had this done.

    Love the videos! I had the manifold issue with my 3rd, 4th, and the 5th generation, so looks like they would’ve remedied that by now. The issue I have with my 2019 Longhorn is the driver sun visor swing bracket dropping out of the seating hole. I have wedged some paper in it to secure it, but that means I can’t use it at all. Saw some reporting the same issue on chat boards, but no remedy to fix it.

      Hey Carey. I have never heard that issue. That would be a bummer indeed. I use mine a lot. Did it happen pretty early on or something more recent? Curious if it broke due to wear, or was defective from the factory.

      I had my passenger side visor do the same at less than 24k miles. The dealership replaced it under warranty. I did notice that the swiveling mechanism was plastic and it pretty much snapped causing it to drop from the seating hole. Hopefully the new one lasts longer.

    My sunroof gets condensation and will drip on me from time to time. Not a big deal really. It doesnt leak in the rain or carwash.
    It is a lot of glass so there is more surface area to collect water. I wonder if this happens to other people and they think it is leaking?

      @MrJustinWheeler 2 роки тому

      What area do you live in? Do you get condensation drops even with the sunshade in place?

    • @getnbigger29
      @getnbigger29 2 роки тому

      Condensation in the cab means there's a leak somewhere (check your carpets front and rear) or there's quick a variation of temp from inide to out which is highly unlikely.

      @@MrJustinWheeler I live in Alaska. No drips when the shade is in place because it is insulated from the cabs heat. Summer time is much better.
      My guess is that cab air can get humid after snow melts off boots and collects on the glass. Like I said it is so minor that I hardly notice it.

    I bought an identical limited to yours a month ago. It is used with 40,000 miles. I love it but.... it sounds like a tractor at cold start. I have since learned that its called the Hemi tick. I don't know what to do.

    • @MrJustinWheeler

      I wouldn’t worry too much just yet. If it sounds that bad, it’s probably just the very common exhaust manifold crack and not a faulty lifter or roller rocker. We’ve got a video where I show what mine sounded like before I replaced the manifolds. Let me see if I can find that link for you.

    Why can’t you replace your windshield? It’s usually covered by insurance and won’t cost anything. AND they can replace it at home or work. They replaced 2 in my driveway. I’ve replaced 3 windshields (different vehicles) no out of pocket $$$$.

      That’s an unusual problem for sure. Usually the A/C on 4th gens is pretty good. If your A/C compressor is running while it’s blowing hot air, it might be a bad blend door. If not, it’s probably an electrical gremlin… a bad ground, glitchy hvac control switch, etc
