Yep I'm retired and I just paid my 2019 Laramie off. Also my 2012 Challenger and my Chysler 300 AWD pentastar are paid off too. I'm keeping these until the wheels fall off.
@0159ralph I'm 25, and I don't think I'll ever be able to buy myself a new truck, much less a decent house. Don't get me wrong, me and my wife make good money for our age, but these prices are crazy. I'll probably just drive my 1994 pickup until I can't anymore.
@@Texas12valve FYI I'm 60 it took me almost 40 years to get here. 36 years of marriage raised 5 kids, served my country and retired from law enforcement. It's ashame younger folks can't afford cars and trucks anymore, let alone a house. I'm very lucky I brought mine used in before Biden/Harris and COVID. Hopefully their BS soon ends and prices start to come down, and inflation slows.
Mine has 180k miles and it’s starting rattle a little for like 2 or 3 seconds when cold but then it goes away . I use amsoil signature serios every 5k miles. My ram hasn’t stopped working so far. I pull trailers I work construction and I think it’s because of my work that the hemi still solid. I head a mechanic saying that the issue with hemos is low oil pressing low rpm so the more rpm’s the more oil pressure.
"Back in the day", when my buddies and I would get our vehicles filthy because of the work we did, we would use Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner on our cars interiors. That stuff worked great for lifting the dirt out of the textures/cracks, etc. of the various materials in the inside of a car.
Going to a reputable tint shop and getting some high quality ceramic tint on the front windshield will do wonders for keeping the cab cooler and block the UV on the dash. You don't have to go dark either, it will probably only be noticeable by you. I ran it in my 2018 rebel for 5.5 years and 200,000 miles and never once got a second look from law enforcement. I just got a 2021 rebel last week and its amazed how much of a difference it made and its winter time.
I have the 5.7 Hemi in my 2017 Charger R/T. Not only is it super fun to drive, but the thing is an absolute beast. 112k miles so far on it and it runs like a dream! Zero problems with the engine. Just keep up with oil changes and they'll last forever.
Hey Justin, in case nobody suggested, I did try and read through but may have missed it, on your steering wheel question. Grab any “interior cleaner” from your fav store, spray that area and let it sit for a few minutes, then take a microfiber towel and wipe GENTLY in one specific spot. If it’s dirt, you should see a change very quickly. If it’s leather, it shouldn’t change. Also, on that dash piece, I’d just pull it and have an interior shop re-cover it. It shouldn’t be too expensive and will keep it from further damage, and yes, spend fifteen bucks on a sun shade for that dash! Thanks for the great series. Your videos helped me decide to buy a used 2020 Laramie back in 22. It’s two years later and I still think I made the best choice for what was available at the time. Cheers!
Great video! Congratulations on your truck! I agree with you, the A/C sucks on my 2020!! and I'm at 39,500 miles, zero issues so far, but now hearing exhaust leak at start up on pass side. Here we go with the cracked manifold or broken bolt game.
Great job!! As a guy that owns a 2020 chrysler pacifica, changing the cab filter can literally cool the cab down twice as much. Its unreal the difference. But I know the 5th gen rams dont cool anything extra from factory too.
I deleted the muffler and resonators on mine and it's sounds great. Comfortable sound on the highway too I drive 17 hours back home all the time and we are comfortable the whole time
Hey Justin, I have a Laramie with sport hood. The vents on these are not functional dummy vents. But they look great. As always, great info and look forward to seein the next one.
I was fortunate with a good job ,lots of overtime and payed cash for a new 2012 shortbed, single cab 4x4 Express and now it only has 84,000 miles on it. Being retired for a couple of years i only put about a thousand miles a year it right now. If i don't get in a wreck, ill die with it. And barely have over a 100 thousand miles on it. 😊 All it needed was a custom intake with the biggest K +N air filter and that 1 foot long Flowmaster muffler. ( the name is on the tip of my tongue .. Outlaw ) LOVE THE HEMI... I also always run it in tow/ haul mode to keep it in V8 mode .
Mr. Wheeler, good to see as always. Truck still looks good. Paint chips on the front bumper are a pain, that’s why I have chrome. I would love to have the Ramboxes, problem there is that Ram doesn’t make them for a 6’-4” bed. If they did, I’d be the first to get it. But I’m glad she’s been good to you. Looking forward to getting just as much outta my truck. If you ever find yourself in the Pittsburgh area again, look me up, I’ll detail the truck for you. Take care my friend and if there aren’t any videos in the next couple weeks, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks Jim! I would like to see Ram offer the RamBoxes in other configurations. It makes sense on the longer beds for sure. I’ll keep you in mind the next time I’m that way. Been mostly traveling to CO and TX lately. Merry Christmas and happy new years to you as well!
My 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 / 4WD with 59k miles just received a whole brand new long block courtesy of RAM / Stellantis due to the magic milkshake... Oil mixing with coolant. No overheating, no issues. Just pulled out of my garage and noticed a odd looking puddle near the front passenger wheel. Noticed it looked like a chocolate milkshake. First I checked the coolant reservoir... absolutely full with milkshake. (Keep in mind coolant should be orange-ish.). Checked my oil which was just changed about 2500 miles prior, and it was over a qt low. Had it towed to my local dealer, the radiator was full of the milkshake mixture, and they pulled history on the ECM and no overheating or other history of codes. They said they suspected head gaskets but checked with RAM and they said it's not worth the risk of it coming back if the head gasket isn't the root cause, so they ordered a full long block, new hoses, and new radiator and will attempt to flush the heater core.
@@MrJustinWheeler100%. I do have an extended warranty that I purchased from the same dealer, so I expected it to be resolved either way, but I'm glad I didn't have to negotiate for a new long block.
@@MrJustinWheelerupdate: full long block, radiator, heater core, and all hoses replaced due to a failed oil cooler letting oil/coolant mix. Just got it back from RAM today. Without warranty, $9400 repair.
Great in-depth review. I have an F-150 with 105,000 miles and I put about 45 to 50k a year on it. I really like my truck but you definitely show the RAM is holding up great for a high mileage work truck. 👍
Great accomplishment, Mr. Justin. And it gives me hope I can get at least another 100k out of my 2012 5.7 Ram with 101,000 miles. I'm just concerned pushing your luck with only 20 oil changes in that many miles. I personally would've done double that many oil changes. Modern engines are so vulnerable to damage or failure if the oil is even moderately dirty it's just not worth the risk to push intervals past 6,000 miles.
Im on my 3rd Ram, and I would NOT buy a Ram without Ram boxes. Just like you said, the utility, AND the looks are fantastic Ive seen every one of your reviews with the truck. Its been great to see the evolution of the truck through the years. A bumper repaint, and a new grill would get your truck looking brand new. From the outside The dash bubbles are confined to the 19-20 Limiteds and Longhorns
Yup i have a 19 limited that finally gas that ugly dash bubbling up on both sides. Everything else is holding up fine. Doubt chrysler will help me, but would be nice lol. If anything ill find a wrecked 21 and up dash and install that. Currently at 70k with my etorque
#1 clean the steering wheel with turtle wax leather cleaner. I have to clean mine every 3 months or so. #2 it takes about 30 miles or so on the hiway and then l have to turn the airconditioner down. #3 maybe try to inject some adhesive under the dash cover. #4 the early model 2019 hemi had the stronger exhaust manifolds carried over from 2018. My problem was the bolts. This is what my dealership told me. Great video. Keep them coming.
Probably worth cleaning the steering wheel with a mild soap, warm water, and a cloth. You’ll notice your plastic buttons behind the steering wheel have the same gunk as the steering wheel. Other option is to swap out the wheel for a few hundred bucks from the dealer. For me, I love the look and feel of a brand new steering wheel
19 ram limited owner here, I just purchased a new steering wheel rim from the dealer. It was $320cad. Does not include buttons or bottom trim, but those are easy to swap over. Comes with the matte finish wood grain as found on 20’ models. Hopefully you can still buy this wheel are the newer rams have no wood trim on the top of the wheel. I think this is the way to go as trimming the existing wheel in new leather will cost more than a brand new factory wheel and is not time efficient. (Wheel will spend time at a upholsterer)
Just a suggestion for tires. I installed the Nokian tires on my 2021 Ram Bighorn. I installed them on my 2002 Tahoe and loved them. Keep in mind though I am in Michigan. But no road noise which I love.
Love your videos. I have a 2019 Limited, 110,000 miles. My dash at 90,000 did same as yours…bubbled in several places. Mine is kept in garage, but no sunshade. Live in Northeast Tn, pretty mild weather. My Limited trim on outside of front doors is delaminating the chrome and bubbled…
Interesting to hear that a garaged truck is having the same issues. I’m surprised. When you say door trim, are you talking about the chrome strips? I guess I need to take a closer look at mine.
Great video, here is a little story about my transmission. Traded trucks with my dad, he had a 2011 f150 with 113kmiles, I couldn’t find records of a transmission fluid change, so after deliberating on what route to go I decided to not get a flush, but only drain the fluid and change filter. I was going to keep the truck so I thought it was the best thing to do than just leaving it alone. it was ok for 1-2 weeks then developed a shutter in first and rear gears always right after starting it, then got a little better once driving around. After 2 months of driving it and 5kmiles later it has gotten a little better but still noticeable. I hope it goes away over time, but I still question myself if it was the right thing to do.
2017 Ecodiesel w/ 112k miles. I changed the rear pads and rotors because the emergency brake had disassociated itself from the bracket. I had it apart so I changed them even though the old pads and rotors were still excellent. Never in the shop (not once!), 10k oil changes with similar report back from Blackstone on the oil quality. Still love the truck and 30 mpg. Can't get more than 35k out of tires though.
I have a 20 ram 1500 Laramie, with 96k I’ve so far had both exhaust manifolds replaced then a cat cracked Thankfully covered under warranty at 62k then only other issue is the starter at 85k
Justin that is a great video on a long-term review. You mentioned your fuel mileage not being any better than 16-17 MPG, and that is without gunning it. I run mine at 80 plus all the time and get consistent 19-22 MPGs. The only time I don't is when I have a headwind. Then it feels like driving a brick, and I only get 16. I have pictures to prove that my 22 Longhorn Limited with the E-Torque 5.7L, 65K miles, and 3.21 gears gets the mileage I said. Ultimately, it is not a big deal since, after all, it is a truck we drive and not a Prius. LOL. It is a fun game to play, though. Did I mention that I love my truck!!
22 is incredible. I don’t see that going downhill with a tailwind. 😂 But I’m sure the e-torque helps you out. Also my truck is probably heavier than the average 1500. My Ram boxes are loaded down and my bed is usually half full of tools/supplies. Maybe I’ll completely empty it and see if there is much difference.
@@MrJustinWheeler Thanks Justin, I have been trying to find the sweet spot that gives me the best mileage. 65-72 MPH has been the best, but I have done 22mpg at 80-83 for 4-5 hours non stop. On Rare occasions I do get 24 mpg. mostly during the mornings driving the mountains here in Idaho and Montana. And yes, I agree, the E-torque does seem to help. Keep the videos coming. They are very enjoyable and educational.
Just bought a used 2019 limited with same wheels and air ride suspension with 50k on it. Hope to see as many miles as yours! Def wanna go with AT3s after the dealer installed all seasons get at least 20k on them.
*DAAANG* your truck is durrty! Thanks for the honest, down to earth review! I would say you definitely underestimate the damage and general wear that constant sun exposure does to the interior, especially leather. You basically cook the leather every time it's sitting in the sun for hours. You can't always choose a parking spot in the shade, but like you suggested, you can cover the windshield or front end with something reflective. That sounds like a good idea to prevent unnecessary deterioration of the interior.
Been looking at a RAM for a long time but was always afraid to REALLY consider it because I heard so much about electrical issues, and with modern vehicles being mostly electronics, I was terrified to drop $30k on something, this video sold it for me. I still have a few more years of saving ahead of me because I want to buy one outright, but I look forward to finally snagging on.
You should definitely buy one. I have had my 2020 ram 1500 lonestar for 3 years. I bought it new with 5 miles and now it has 98k I have only done oil changes 1 set of tires 1 battery and the water pump failed at 80k miles but it was an easy fix. I have met a few guys that have traded their 2020 for a 2023 or 2022 model and they said they regret it so aim for a 2019 2020.
A timely video for me. Next week I am trading in my 2018 F150 STX for a 2020 Ram Big Horn with the Sport Package and 5.7 Hemi. My truck has 73k miles and the Ram has 100k on. Single owner, and it appears he was the only occupant. No wear and tear anywhere but the lumbar on the driver. The truck-bed looks almost new. I'm thinking he was a traveling salesman? Carvana is delivering it and I like the warranty and return policy enough to try it out for the first time. Your description of the issues does not concern me. I recently had the cam phasers replaced on the F150 and they had to remove the entire cab to do it. The paint has been peeling and Ford won't admit it's their fault. I'm over the aluminum body too. I'm very much looking forward to the change. The Ram my friend has feels more solid overall. I look forward to seeing it on Tuesday.
@@firefight77 2018 3.5L EcoBoost. I've had the Ram for a little over a month now. The Ford and Ram are quite different creatures. The Ram ride is much smoother and quieter on the road. The paint quality is noticeable better. The user interface on the screen has was more options and is overall better looking. More USB plugs, much bigger center console with better storage options. The rear seats are easier to lift and drop, and more. I'm very happy I made the change.
@@socal33 I'm really interested in long term reliability. Rust issues, etc. I'll sacrifice creature comforts for less breakdowns and rusted fenders and rockers. Hopefully yours lasts, I've got a tacoma right now myself.
@@firefight77 I know all about the rust being familiar with the Northeast quite well. I once bought a 2004 4Runner from a guy in Massachusetts and I'm surprised the body didn't just fall off the chassis. Being in NE Georgia now, the only enemy the truck has are my frequent trips down dirt roads. Trucks last a long time here. Kind of like Florida.
Using a KN high flow cabin filter (reusable) helped me. Stay away from HEPA which will restrict airflow more. Of course this won’t make it cooler just flow better
Leather on steering wheel. Get empty mason jar mix 50% strength alcohol with 1:1 ratio water add a few drops of dawn dish soap (don't overdo it). Mix real good and get to work with some shop towels. Gets gross grime off with some work, yet gentle. I use it on leather recliners to get hairspray and other gross 🤢 stuff out. Also clean gross ass gaming controllers. Works miracles, not harsh at all.
We share the same dash cam. Lol Mine won't hold time as the internal battery is shot. Still records deer running in front of me every night.😊 Had my rear window replaced 2 weeks ago under warranty. My 21 still runs good. Knock on wood.
Father owns Ford his whole life, I've been a die hard ram fan, had a limited Laramie 06 hemi... Put 200k+ on it Loved it, it had problems, broke down on me different occasions and has left me in different cities stuck. So with the amount of Ford's on the road non stop and the reliability, transitioning into running my own company with all the highway miles I'll be putting on for my daily driver/work truck, I am getting a Ford. Any advice/input/info y'all want to share I'm open for it. I'm also buying another older ram for rough riding in the woods, something I can love and tear up and not feel bad
12:01 - I'm shocked to hear the folding mirrors haven't failed on you. My 2019 Limited passenger-side motor broke after less than 15 actuations. The driver-side motor is now clicking and snapping and refusing to lock unless I fiddle with it. Mine was built in July of 2018; they must've corrected that issue sometime before yours finished assembly. 18:18 - Experience this issue about 50% of the time I attempt to open the tailgate. I found the remedy is to push the tailgate *closed* while pressing the release button; seems counterintuitive, but it relieves pressure on the latches so that it can fall freely. This would be incredibly annoying if you need to use the in-cab or keyfob opener on a regular basis.
Just got a 2024 Ram 1500 5.7 Laramie fully loaded. Just traded the 2017 Big Horn with 230k. Was my daily driver with the 3.6L and only regret was getting the 3.6L. Tried to tow with it a couple times and it was awful, the fuel mileage was worse then my current HEMI, was slow in traffic and merging onto the highway was borderline dangerous. But this new truck will throw you into the seat and doesn’t even notice the camper 😂
I have friend that has air suspension in Montana! 40 below this winter! Compressor over heated? But after engine warm up no problem! Oh fyi same year 2019 ! The compressor has antifreeze in it preventing problems
I watched ur issues with front cv axles. I have a 2013 1500 Laramie with 3" lift and had same issue. I replaced those with ones from Advanced Auto, basically same as RockAuto ones. About 5 months and both boots ripped. Took those back and replaced under warranty. Installed and those only lasted about 5 months. I was tired of this because its a pain in the ass job. So at 165,000 decided to rebuild the whole suspension since it was basically worn out and replace front axles again. I went on RockAuto and found these axles made by Trakmotive. They are made for trucks with lift and have a split axle style that lets the two halves slide, which may help your case since you have air bags and lift truck. They are more expensive, but don't regret buying. it's been over a year now and these axles have shown no wear at all. I didn't see if you replaced yours yet. I now have 186,000 miles.
Hello there neighbor- Henryetta here! Ive got a 2019 White Limited eTorque I bought new! I’ve enjoyed your videos on your limited! My dash just started bubbling about a week ago too! I’m currently at 24,000 miles and it’s been garaged since day 1! Have you done the update for the Harman Kardon yet? As for your AC not working great, have you replaced your humidity sensor yet? I did that on my grandmothers 300C and it blew so much colder with the new sensor!
I’m surprised the dash still delaminated being garage kept. Guess I couldn’t have prevented it if I tried. I haven’t done the HK update or replaced the humidity sensor. I need to look into that. Thanks for the reminder!
@@MrJustinWheeler just saw your reply! It surprised me too. I just need to schedule it in since I have the maxcare warranty. Now, the issue is finding a place competent to do it lol. Yea man, look into the humidity sensor- it sure may help! Also, the HK update makes a HUGE difference! If you ever want to do a comparison video with my 2019 Limited eTorque- just let me know!
do you have the link for that dash camera and or power adapter cable for it? Love the vids, Your videos gave me the extra push to pull the trigger on purchasing my 21' when I was looking for a new truck and its been nothing but great!
Here is a story and information for you. On this same truck. The truck is a 2019 RAM quad cab, Laramie, 5.7 liter Hemi, 6” lift, 4X4 with three adults riding on 37” tires. Yeah, 37’s 😅 We rented and towed a 11k pound 36’ bumper pull RV from Dallas, TX to Lake Powell, Arizona (Pace, AZ) then to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and back 2,400 miles round trip. It was August of 2023 and 105-110 degrees the entire trip. We towed it at 70-75 mph, the truck lived at 3,000 RPM’s and in some of the mountains it was holding 4,000 RPM’s up long hills. The truck did great, not skipping a beat. We changed the oil before and after the trip synthetic AMs Oil, and ran premium fuel. I limited the gear shifts to keep it from changing gears all the time. The transmission, oil, and coolant temps all rose during the long mountain hill climbs but remained within the acceptable limits. We for sure pushed the truck but it did great and still going strong today. My concern is the transmission fluid, the truck had 38k miles and today 46k miles and we plan on keeping it for several more years. When fluids get hot they begin to break down. We never roasted the fluid but it was getting close. Our MPG were upper 8’s. I can’t say enough good things about that truck. We were maxed out on tow rating and I am sure several hundred pounds over payload. I know better today. Because of that rented RV and trip we did end up buying a Brinkley Z3610 and bought a 2024 Ford F350 SRW, HO 6.7, Platnium, Tremor turns out we are kinda close to maxing that thing out too once loaded up but we are going to live with being 280 pounds under payload. That RAM 5.7 engine, transmission, and cooling system are as reliable as they come. We aren’t having any interior issues, it’s been a well built truck.
Stupid me.. left a comment asking about your favorite tires and a minute later you answered haha. Been eyeing the Nitto’s.. think I’ll go with them next on my 21 Ram. I replaced my black package 22’s with Rebel 18’s with 275/70-18 “33’s”Pirelli Scorpion AT plus. The tires have been great but looking for something new. I will say the extra rubber you have on the 18s make a smoother ride on bumps.
My Ram (2022 Limited NE) keeps popping up with “Service Electronic Stability Control” and “Service Auto Start/Stop”. She’s currently at dealer. It only happens about 10 seconds into driving. Goes away when truck is cut off and restarted.
On the RAMBOX lid I'm having the some problems with one of the lid deck is bowing a little. I had the dealer work several hours on the same problem. Tech at the dealership stated that it comes from closing the lid/deck on the end of the of lid instead of in the middle (right above the lock). Just say'n!!
As always Justin… Great detailed report. Now like the people say. Wash that thing man. Ya need me to borrow you a couple bucks for a wash 😂😂😂. I still love my 2019 Ram like the day I bought it.
Hey Justin, I really dig your videos and you are the reason, why I chose to buy a 2019 model. No big issues so far with about 80 thousand miles on it 😅 I know the issue with the steering wheel and it is definitely the paint desolving in the leather. There is an easy procedure to clean and spraypaint the steering wheel. I have done mine and it looks like new! Looking forward to the next steps on the high mileage RAM. Cheers from Germany Andy
Justin just so you know, the sport hood looks vented, it is not. those are just plastic inserts and do not have any airflow through them. I have a 22 with a sport hood and i had a 21 with a sport hood and neither were vented really.
I did headers on an old '80's truck--the added heat burned up 2 starters and a couple heat shields. Maybe reconsider that mod-especially if towing. Thanks for your videos!
PLM Exhaust Muffler Delete For 2019 - 2024 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi × 1 $165.00 , just installed the kit on mine, had to wait 6 weeks for delivery, but worth it, sound great
My trucks 8.4 inch screen delaminated. After some back and fourth ram covered it. And my rear window leaked. Ram fixed it but it was still leaking so I fixed it. As for an exhaust I have the Clowmaster flownFX. It sounds good but is rusting much more than the Borla on my Camaro and the black tips are pealing. I won’t get another Flowmaster, the metal must not be very high quality, when it falls off I’ll buy something with higher quality.
@@MrJustinWheeler it sounds good, cold starts it really comes to life but then settles down to a nice rumble. From inside the truck you can hear it but it’s not obnoxious and doesn’t interfere when you want to talk to people inside the truck. But I’m disappointed that the black tips are flaking and the metal pipes have a lot of surface rust, much more than the original pipes. I would 100 percent recommend it but if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time I think i would go with borla or another company who uses better steel.
My 2019 had similar steering wheel issue, wasn’t sure if it was build up or the leather breaking down. Ended up being buildup from hands. Simple Green and some light agitation took it right off. Then just apply some leather conditioner afterwards.
Good video. As a Ram owner myself not only do exhaust manifolds break but a lubrication problem where oil doesn’t get to the lifters and eventually have to replace the lifter and camshaft. Have you had this problem
I've had my 2021 for 30k miles. Already having issues with things that are nickel and diming me. Issues with the fuel tank evap canister solid freezing up. Won't take gas in the winter. Exhaust manifolds cracked at 30k miles, and pretty sure they are cracked again. Luckily that one is under warranty. Front electronic drop down air dam lost communication, sounds like it fills with water. Replaced the passenger side door glass because it caught a rock. Was easy to change myself. Not the Trucks fault on that one. Just lots of dumb little things. Our local ram dealer is EXPENSIVE for service I try to do as much as I can myself. I'm thinking of upgrading from the 23 gallon to the 33 gallon gas tank before winter hits and I need to deal with that evap canister. Towing on a 23 gallon tank is pure stupidity. Found myself carrying 10 gallons of gas in cans on hauls through the middle of nowhere just incase a place was closed. One of my frequent stops in the middle of nothing had burned down so it saved my but once.
@Steven91992.................When you leave a vehicle in the outdoors with nothing keeping the sun from shining on the dashboard, I would think ANY vehicle wood have issues with the dashboard material degrading!
The etorque does defiantly does help with gas consumption. However did you know all force induct motors such as the Ecoboost and toyota iforce twin turbos consume more gas than the V8 counterparts. To you steering wheel question, no that is not your dirty hands, its just really excessive wear and it always happens only way to prevent it is to use a cover. You can have it rewrapped. I Strongly believe the reason you are having your leather on you dash pull back is due to not enough hydration. If you use olive oil or a leather oil to rehydrate your leather I believe you would not see this however its a bit to late for that now.
let's do that interior and exterior detailing when you reach that 250 000 miles mark. I think the steering wheel is just greasy like the rest of the interior though.
Great video, my truck just hits 114,000 miles and my radiator got cracked on the side cap, still dame brake pads, the thing about the transmission happened to me, I was in Colorado working and i didn't know the problem was the battery, lol it was funny, Now... I would like to ask you, how did you install that hitch on the bed, and what brand did u install?
my old jeep had a leather steering wheel and the leather kind of disintegrated and it looked a bit like yours is starting to. And it is hard to tell if it is dirty or falling apart without attempting to clean it a bit unfortunately.
I love my 2020 Rebel. Unfortunately I think Im gonna have to sell it. I keep on getting this “power steering unavailable” issue message that the dealer can’t figure it out and its costing me too much money 💵
Hey Justin - love your channel. Great job on this video. Can you tell me if you are concerned with payload? This trim is consistently dissed as a low-capable rig. I just got a 2024 Limited 1500 and the payload is 929lbs because of all of the features. I am happy with it and do not plan on going a different direction, but for some reason people love to tell me the payload must be followed. I totally disagree with that. I have been around trucks my entire life and confidently believe I can push this to 1800-2000lbs no problem. That is gear, passengers, and tongue weight.
*LET'S GET THIS RAM TO 1,000,000 MILES* 👍👍👍

You have to keep that truck on the channel till 500k! It's been one hell of a journey
I would love to hear a cold start of a 4-year-old 225k Hemi.
That’s a good idea! I think we can make that happen.
Probably no worse than a 5.3 Chevy
Mine has 180k miles and it’s starting rattle a little for like 2 or 3 seconds when cold but then it goes away . I use amsoil signature serios every 5k miles. My ram hasn’t stopped working so far. I pull trailers I work construction and I think it’s because of my work that the hemi still solid. I head a mechanic saying that the issue with hemos is low oil pressing low rpm so the more rpm’s the more oil pressure.
It doesn't sound great at 100k lol take my word for it
What a beast that Ram Hemi is Justin...Congratulations on paying it off 😊
Thanks my friend! Sure is nice!
I’m wishing I had done that early on. The next truck will definitely get that treatment.
That gets expensive if you go through a couple windshields
@MistrZIGZAG it's not that expensive to tint a windshield and well worth the investment.
Cheers!
Just got a 2020 ram, love your videos, definitely gonna keep watching
Thanks Brian!
Another great one on the high mileage truck Justin!! Keep em coming!
Thank you sir!
Comfortable sound on the highway too I drive 17 hours back home all the time and we are comfortable the whole time
Comfortable sound without muffler and resonators?? lol man idk if I’m ready for straight pipes.
@@MrJustinWheeler yes it is a 2020 with duals out the back stock headers and cats
The sound doesn't really kick up until about 2500 rpms. Mine has the 3.21 gears as well so going 75 to 80 it's actually very quiet still
Another great and HONEST REVIEW of your truck!!
Congrats, nothing like having a rig paid for!
Hey Justin, I have a Laramie with sport hood. The vents on these are not functional dummy vents. But they look great. As always, great info and look forward to seein the next one.
Hey James. They aren’t functional? Well hell, that was going to be my excuse to upgrade! 😂
My 2019 Longhorn with the all-brown interior has a bubbling/delaminating dash issue as well (same material that the Limited uses).
Same I keep mine in tow/haul mode trying to delay the inevitable lifter issues
Glad they took care of you. That would have been awful otherwise.
The dash delamination is only an issue on limiteds and trx. Laramie + rebels with the synthetic leather have no issues.
I figured that was probably the case. Appreciate the info!
Just like you said, the utility, AND the looks are fantastic
Ive seen every one of your reviews with the truck. Its been great to see the evolution of the truck through the years.
A bumper repaint, and a new grill would get your truck looking brand new. From the outside
The dash bubbles are confined to the 19-20 Limiteds and Longhorns
Thanks for the info! I will try that.
awesome man! can't wait to finally finish paying off my car
Extremely useful information! We’re looking at getting a Gen 5.
That’s a good idea! I hadn’t even thought about a new steering wheel. If it’s only a couple hundred, that wouldn’t be too bad.
I had the sticking tailgate when i bought my ram. fixed the issue with some oil or greese in the latches
Just a suggestion for tires. I installed the Nokian tires on my 2021 Ram Bighorn. I installed them on my 2002 Tahoe and loved them. Keep in mind though I am in Michigan. But no road noise which I love.
Congrats brother! Love our Hemi. Cheers to many more miles.
Thank you sir!
And 1 cabin filter 😂 epic man
Just remember… this truck was new as yours at one point!
@@TruckCentral I don’t even drive mine anymore 😂
Shots fired lol 😂 just playin
Nice! My only gripe with the 5th gens is the oil filter location...nightmare to replace those.
Very impressed with this truck. Great reviews Truck Central
Highway tires and e-torque do make quite a difference
22 is incredible. I don’t see that going downhill with a tailwind. 😂
But I’m sure the e-torque helps you out.
Needed this video just got a 2024 big horn 3 days ago perfect video for making sure I do what’s needed for it
*DAAANG* your truck is durrty!
Loving my 2022 Ram Limited. Now on a 6in Readylift kit and kept the factory air suspension. 37in Toyo Open Country tires.
Use a clear vinal wrap for the front end to avoid rock chips
I wish I would have done that in the beginning.
What year and engine did you have on the Ford?
Haha my 2020 has 73k on dash only issue I had was the rear window leak 😂😂
Using a KN high flow cabin filter (reusable) helped me. Stay away from HEPA which will restrict airflow more. Of course this won’t make it cooler just flow better
My 2022 E-Torque gets 20 solid or better, love it. You got an awesome truck!
Still records deer running in front of me every night.😊
Had my rear window replaced 2 weeks ago under warranty. My 21 still runs good. Knock on wood.

Hey Justin love your videos. I live in Canada, Ottawa On. and no issues with the air ride.
Thank you sir! I appreciate the comment.
I have 2019 ram limited 145k . No issues yet.
Good work! Keep them miles coming.
Sorry, forgot to put it in the description. It’s there now 👍
Congrats on getting your Ram!
Here is a story and information for you. On this same truck.
The truck is a 2019 RAM quad cab, Laramie, 5.7 liter Hemi, 6” lift, 4X4 with three adults riding on 37” tires. Yeah, 37’s 😅
We rented and towed a 11k pound 36’ bumper pull RV from Dallas, TX to Lake Powell, Arizona (Pace, AZ) then to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and back 2,400 miles round trip.
Haha, yep the Nittos have been great. Can’t complain.
Thanks for the review man. I’m a GM guy but am looking at an identical 2019 Limited with 45k on it. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on it now.
How much are they asking ?
My Ram (2022 Limited NE) keeps popping up with “Service Electronic Stability Control” and “Service Auto Start/Stop”. She’s currently at dealer. It only happens about 10 seconds into driving. Goes away when truck is cut off and restarted.
On the RAMBOX lid I'm having the some problems with one of the lid deck is bowing a little. I had the dealer work several hours on the same problem. Tech at the dealership stated that it comes from closing the lid/deck on the end of the of lid instead of in the middle (right above the lock). Just say'n!!
I’ve heard that before too. I’m skeptical. I think they just warp and they are making excuses. 😂
As always Justin… Great detailed report. Now like the people say. Wash that thing man. Ya need me to borrow you a couple bucks for a wash 😂😂😂. I still love my 2019 Ram like the day I bought it.
Nice looking truck & I like the T-shirt!
Thanks Andy! Glad I could help steer you in the right direction. Good luck with the truck!
Justin just so you know, the sport hood looks vented, it is not. those are just plastic inserts and do not have any airflow through them. I have a 22 with a sport hood and i had a 21 with a sport hood and neither were vented really.
Well that’s disappointing. Guess I’ll check out some aftermarket options. Thanks for the info!
I did headers on an old '80's truck--the added heat burned up 2 starters and a couple heat shields. Maybe reconsider that mod-especially if towing. Thanks for your videos!
PLM Exhaust Muffler Delete For 2019 - 2024
Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi × 1
$165.00 , just installed the kit on mine, had to wait 6 weeks for delivery, but worth it, sound great
My trucks 8.4 inch screen delaminated.
How does it sound?
@@MrJustinWheeler it sounds good, cold starts it really comes to life but then settles down to a nice rumble. From inside the truck you can hear it but it’s not obnoxious and doesn’t interfere when you want to talk to people inside the truck.
But I’m disappointed that the black tips are flaking and the metal pipes have a lot of surface rust, much more than the original pipes. I would 100 percent recommend it but if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time I think i would go with borla or another company who uses better steel.
Syringe and superglue for the dash? Great review. Wish I could find one with Ramboxes.
I’ve heard that. I’ve got a syringe and super glue on order. If you’re looking for a Ram with RamBoxes, wait until you find one. They are worth it!

Idling does it and not frequent enough oil changes.
I could be wrong but I thought the sport hood air intake are fake, you’d have to make your own custom cutout for air intakes
I think you’re right 😅😅. Now I don’t have an excuse to buy one. I have seen some cool aftermarket hoods with actual venting though.
Would replacing the exhaust system with an aftermarket full exhaust system mitigate the exhaust manifold problem ?
i.e. Borla, Carven, AWE ?
That’s my impression. Headers should be much less likely to crack.
The vents in the sport hood are non functional. I recommend going with ceramic coated headers the coating keeps the temps down by a lot
Might need to shop around more for a windshield. I paid $1079 for a Mopar windshield installed earlier this year. Aftermarket was about $800 ish.
Damn bro, I got mine for $220
@@moyacosta6223 On a Ram with adaptive cruise and all that?
Insurance didn’t cover???
@@dailygrinders89 no. I live in a state that does not require windshield specific coverage so normal deductible applies.
@@dailygrinders89 no point to file a claim when the deductible is $1000.
I live in Montana and my 2019 limited has air ride and 165k miles the winter is absolutely horrible for the suspension.
I know the truck has 225,000 Miles but still it's only 4 years old there's no excuse for the dash to be falling apart like that.
I don’t disagree. I’ve heard others have had it covered under warranty, luckily.
14:59 i cant be the only one who thought of "thats what she said" 😂😂😂
how about water leakage through the third brake light?
Nothing yet. Fingers crossed.
Have a 2020 limited and no power mirrors. It drives me crazy
Man you gotta have the power mirrors!
What intervals did you do your differentials at?
What are your thoughts on the Diablo tuner and cold air intake?
Man they’ve been great. Aside from the performance gains, I really like being able to clear check engine lights on the fly.
Put 35s on the stock wheels. I did on my limited and I love it!
let's do that interior and exterior detailing when you reach that 250 000 miles mark. I think the steering wheel is just greasy like the rest of the interior though.
Agreed. I’m looking forward to the first official detail.
What's the name of the dash cam?
Sorry, forgot to put it in the description. It’s there now 👍
Congrats on paying that truck off now you got more money in the pocket keep the ram going and see what she can do
Yes sir. It’s going to go a long way to keep the old girl on the road.
that's an insane amount of miles in 4 years
Longhorn rules since 2013. The most luxury truck until now 2024. The competition looks cheaper beside ram.
The dash is because lack of tlc the leather needs lube treated . Leather shrink also with sun block
my old jeep had a leather steering wheel and the leather kind of disintegrated and it looked a bit like yours is starting to.
