    Hi there! Here's an asmr-ish, overdubbed time-lapse of me creating my Drag Queen of Hearts rug. I chose to hang this rug on my wall. If I were to sell the rug, I would back it with some fabric, but because it's staying in my home, I just sewed some D-ring hooks on the back so I could hang it up 😊
    Sorry about the audio quality-I'm new at this but will be getting a microphone soon!

    Hi! I love your videos and I tuft as well. Just curious if you could do a video or talk briefly about how you make sure your yarn feeds through correctly and your setup if you've made one for feeding yarn. The biggest problem and time consumer I have while tufting is that my yarn falls out, or the the change in tautness can make my work uneven. Thanks so much!

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  3 роки тому

      Ahhh the struggle!! I’m very familiar with that. It’s probably the most important part of tufting IMO - I think I’ll do a video on this. But in brief, i would recommend getting a yarn winder if possible and creating your own yarn cones. It’s very difficult to feed from bundles because they often snag. Ever since I started using yarn cones, I haven’t had this issue.

    thank you for making this video! just wondering if you have any tips for getting inexpensive tufting cloth? most monks cloth I see is very expensive

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  3 роки тому

      I can't personally speak to using anything other than tufting fabric (which I get from tuftinggun.com). It isn't cheap, but it works perfectly. I often have people reach out to me asking why their gun keeps cutting holes in monks cloth, and I can't help but wonder if it has something to do with the monk's cloth itself. Tufting fabric provides a lot of give in between the threads, which allows the head of the gun to easily move in and out of the fabric. So, it's an expense that is worth it, IMO.

    Heyy its a beautiful rug!! Thank u for this vid and I have one question.. how is the loop pile rug finished ? Like i see lots of vids cutting extras and evening out for cut pile but what about the other kind? Is it pulled out from other side or?

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  3 роки тому +1

      With a loop pile, you can trim the pieces that get too long on the rug (which happens sometimes) but you can’t generally trim the rug because you want to maintain the loop look. Also, you can’t pull at the yarn because you risk pulling out large chunks from the piece. Since a loop pile doesn’t cut at all, all the yarn is connected unless you manually cut it. Difficult to explain, but maybe I’ll make a video once I learn how to use the loop pile gun properly 😅

    How does your rugs hold up to everyday use af floor rugs? I would imagine if the density of the wool is not high enoigh they would collapse quite a bit.

    • @AJMAKES137
      @AJMAKES137  3 роки тому

      So far, so good. The wool is much stronger than acrylic. I have some rugs I use from when I first started, and they have collapsed-but still look good in my opinion. I now exclusively use wool and aim for high density. And they seem to be holding up well!
