Hi there! Thanks for all the positive feedback on my last video :D Here are some more tufting tips and basics. All of this info comes from my experience and subjective opinion-there are many ways to make a rug. Most of what I have learned comes from Tim Eads (tuftinggun.com) and the free resources he provides. Plus, a ton of hours practicing and making rugs. Happy Tufting ✨

You can try using an electric drill to transfer your bundled yarn to spools faster

yeah, but is a simple lighting rig really that expensive even as a DYI project? of course you don't need one, but, well, the results speak for themselves and that's why ppl use them. it's not like a big deal, just sayin'....
If you cut the bottom 2 inches off of a 2 litre plastic bottle you can feed the yarn through the pour hole and put your bundle inside. Recap it with the bottom n a few tape tabs and it will sit in the corner of your yarn stand behind the peg on the end according to what I saw when you were describing why you rewind before using bundles. I love your video and Im so much more comfortable now that Ive watched your video.
I raise sheep on my farm in Montana. I don't know who you saw shearing sheep, but my sheep are GLAD to get sheared before the heat of summer. They are not hurt in the process. So I don't know where people get this thing that wool is "cruel".
You can find quite a few undercover videos of cruel practices on wool farms. Rough handling, abuse, tail docking, mulesing with no anesthesia or pain relief, dirty living conditions, and sheep being sent to slaughter when they are no longer making the wool farmer money for whatever reason.
Do your research!! Some sheep are even skinned, alive, in the process. Smaller farms like yours are much more likely to be humane.
yes its good for sheep to be sheared because they get hot and a few other reasons but many larger farms with any animal will be working for efficiency rather than the quality of life of the animal and theyll abuse them
Omg I was sent a horrific film of sheep being sheared by PETA. Also getting their tails cut off, no anaesthesia, just to make shearing easier. It really sickened me and I feel the same now just remembering their screams. Think it was filmed in Australia somewhere. So glad to hear that you are treating your sheep well.
@@w11granny72 Docking is not just to make shearing easier. I've never known any shepherd that docks for that reason. Parasites and blow flies are why sheep are docked. Sheep die from blow flies. It's ugly. The long tails and wool make a breeding ground for parasites and are worse for the sheep than being docked.

I am a machine knitter, and I use a yarn winder to spin my yarn into a
yarn cake, which draws from the center of the cake. This will help
anyone who has purchased yarn not on a cone. We ,machine knitters
also experience yarn buildup in our machines, and routinely have to
clean and oil them.

For your own saty: Tie your hair to a ponytail and never use earbuds with cables, please. The moving parts of the gun could get caught in it and strangulate or scalpe you.

Amazing video! What kind of wrist brace are you using? Does it lessen the vibration effects in help with the wrist pain? :)
A lot of indie dyers use ethical yarn too! Probably better for wall hangings than rugs but you can get some amazing yarns in worsted weight
Hi, the store yarn ... you need to rewind the yarn and check for knots . If you use a Lazy kate( used in spinning wool) or do it by hand ( it won't take long)
THRIFT STORES have awesome yarn selection - reuse in quantity

You can get a winder for yarn, lots of different kinds. I crochet and knit and I only use yarn that I’ve put on a winder. There is also cone winders. Totally worth it and not expensive.

I see you posted this video a few months ago. I came across it on u tube. I have never seen this done before (didn't know this existed). You did such an awesome job teaching this. i started doing latch hook rugs and they take OD long, switching over to tufting asap
i used to do those when i was a kid 150 years ago, i always enjoyed them. i made a big rug (big for latch hook) for my grandma that she used for years. back then string art was a thing, too, where you'd hammer in little nails into a piece of wood and wrap string around them.
How do you wash these rugs and is the adhesive thats strong that it wont wear away quickly during wash or just normal use?
Can you use 5mm yarn on a 9mm gun? What size yarn and gun are you using ?
Love your videos. What yarn weight do you use for single strands? I see many people use two strands.
I now use Rug Wool from Tuft the World and use two strands at a time. It's 3-ply I think and one strand is too thin, which is why I double it up :)
can u wash ur rugs and if so how do u wash it?
Is the cut pile and loop pile, different settings you can do on the gun; or is it two totally different guns?
How do you make yarn stand and are those hooks eye hooks or cup hooks?
