I love it but I’m always wanting to try new things which means I need the supplies for these new things... once I go to get the supplies I get ideas for multiple different projects I want to do with this new skill I’m trying.. so, after spending a decent amount of money on supplies I’ll make a bunch of stuff and then lose interest. With almost 2,000 comments, someone else may have already mentioned this tip to speed up the printing process. In Illustrator, set your Artboard to slightly larger than your image. The default is paper size, but you can make it any size you want. Make sure your whole image fits on the artboard. When you print, there will be a section on the screen called Options. In that section, click on the Scaling drop down menu, then choose Tile Full Pages. Illustrator will automatically break your image to print on multiple pages, and it will show you a preview of how many pages it will take. Hope this helped!
Here’s another way too: if you have a large TV and a laptop with Screen Mirroring abilities, pull up the image on your laptop, screen mirror it to your TV, and then place your frame against your TV. That way, it’ll be easier to trace your image if you don’t have a projector!

Dear amazing person. I watched this video about ten days ago and was so inspired that I went out and got wool and a punch needle. I made my first punch needle "rug" actually a decoration that can be hung on a wall. I didn't even have suitable cloth so I did it on a plastic mosquito mesh. I advertised a bit on FB and got actually an order to make another and sold it today! Thank you for inspiring me!!!
What a great tutorial! I appreciate that you took the time to explain how you used illustrator, I feel like a lot of people would have just skipped that part. A lot of people would also have just filmed a time-lapse without bothering to make it into a tutorial, so it speaks to your generosity that you take the time to do it this way, even if most people who watch this don't end up making something! I also love how chill you are. Totally subscribed:)

Absolutely fantastic. It's so cool to see a new aesthetic and colour schemes brought into something that might be considered a more old fashioned art. This is definitely hip and fresh and NOT 1970s.
@@kagrimreaper Right, but we're saying we had no interest in, nor any knowledge that these even existed until the almighty UA-cam algorithm brought us here. I have not looked into punch needle rugs since this video. I purely watched it for the sheer pleasure of it!
This was such a detailed tutorial on how to punch needle from the very start to the end. It was cool see how you pull different elements from things that inspire you to make one really cool cohesive piece of art. I've never seen some do such a large punch needling piece! When I learned how to do it years ago everyone I knew used very fine needles. A lot of people would use literal syringes with a hole made in the side of the point. You end up needing much thinner yarn, and I don't know if you *need* to use tightly woven fabric for it, but at the time most people would look for the most tightly woven fabric they could find. It was often similar fabric to a linen tea towel. I think it was partly because people would embroider designs on the edges of kitchen towel and such, but also because it was *supposed to* hold your yarn better. Kinda makes sense if you're putting it through the wash I guess. You can get very nice fine detail that way, but dear lorrrd, that combination of things made learning how to do it quite frustrating. I'm really excited to try punch needle embroidery again with the tips you mentioned about what type of fabric works well. When I initially saw the thickness of the needle I was like "😲 how tf is that going to stay in the fabric", but it makes so much sense how you explained it. Many thanks! I really appreciate the video.
Thank you for talking about the awkward art middle stage because it's one of the things that sends people running away from art - also using sneakers to choose color palettes is a tactic that I'm definitely going to use, too!

Love your whole vibe. Love how passionate you are about your art. Its true when they say purchases of art are mostly about the artist. New fan. Have you ever tried printing out large pieces using the automatic tiling feature? It automatically places every bit of the art onto seperate pages for you to the exsct size you specify. And old time billboard painters used to "pounce" their designs onto the large surface by tracing each color shape by making pin holes in the paper pattern and bouncing a bag of graphite powder over the holes thereby transferring the pattern without having to cut it out and keep the relationships intact. Perhaps you already knew these techniques, but just in case you experiment and find it saves you some time to make even more! I learned a lot about Illustrator from you and how to use a punch needle. I never could figure how its stitches stayed in!
I know you have almost 2000 comments, and I hope you see mine! Thank you! I have been doing punchneedle for years and years, but not for making rugs. I do pictures with embroidery floss. Punching is so stress-relieving! I have been wanting to do rugs, and of course the place to learn anything is UA-cam. I’ve watched quite a few videos about rug making. They’re all good and helpful, and in most they’re using a tufting gun. I guess I could do that, but I’m so used to the steady, relaxing handwork of punching that I’d miss it. Then your video shows up on my feed, and I’m so glad I decided to watch it. You gave me a thorough class, from the frame to the binding. I was worrying about using latex or other goo on the back. The back is as pretty as the front, and I was wondering if it needed to be used on a loops type rug. Now I know! I wouldn’t be making rugs for high traffic areas, anyway. I learned so much! Thank you for taking the time to give such a good demo. I’m ready to try it!
And this is why people should never complain about the price of art! I could NEVER have the patience nor skill to do anything like this. Looks wonderful!
I watched this video last month and just wanted to let you know that you got me interested into punch needle and it's now one of my new favorite hobbies! I've made several small projects so far and I think I'll be tackling making a big wall hanging or rug next! Thanks for the content and I love your art!
This is such a pretty rug with beautiful colors. I've been thinking about learning punch rugs recently and this is really making me really hype to start. Great work man
One of the best tutorials I've ever had the pleasure of watching. You explain everything so eloquently and in a way that anyone could understand. Bravo!
I have always loved yarn mediums, never knew about this til I came across this channel. knit/crochet hurts my hands these days, thinking this might be easier but satisfy my neeeeeeeed for yarn craft
Wow, you did such an amazing job! I think you also just taught me what I've been doing wrong every time I try to do punch needle art lol. So thank you so much for not only sharing your brilliant creativity and techniques of rug creation but for also helping to teach us how to punch needle in general!
i feel like you would really love using an ipad and pro create. it would cut a lot these corners, not having to sketch and slowly use adobe! thanks for sharing your process tho! its fascinating and youre amazing!!!
frickin awesome. I love it! top tip from a crocheter, when you are finishing your thread ends try to take the thread back and forth a couple of times. this is what I learned and I have never had an item unravel. I wish I could do what you do, I got lost with the computery bit so I skipped ahead to the yarny bit. I did like listening to the way you gather ideas and colours though.
I don't know you, I didn't even watch the full video, but it feel so good to see a black boy with such creativity and artistic skills. You're so talented. I subscribe 👌🏾 (Sorry for my English I originally speak French🤷🏽♀️😅)
These videos are so incredible. Not only is he so charismatic and a good teacher and explains things so clearly and eloquently - but you can really see the skill that goes into these pieces, and how much time they take. Proves his worth!!
Thank you SO MUCH for giving very specific tips on how to use the tool, from aiming it the right way, keeping the yarn slack, etc. All of your advice is super helpful. A masterclass. Kudos😊
This is such a good tutorial for needle punching, you basically made me understand something my middle school teacher tried and failed to teach me, and your voice is so calm and chill, I love it, and the design process is just lovely, I'm just in love with your style, instant subscribe
Thanks for showing your process. It's such a good point that in the middle of a project things aren't going to look like you imagine them to, and you just need to keep going til the end. I often leave projects half done for that very reason. Trying to kick the habit. Haha.
Thanks so much for this. All my stitches were coming out and that's because I wasn't doing it right! I love your detailed explanations and close ups of the work. One thing for the edging: another lovely finish is a blanket stitch that will lay a nest chain at the outside edge. It's not any faster but it helps with keeping the thickness if the edge even. Thanks so much for your generosity of time and thoughtfulness in doing these tutorials!
I love how you showed all of your design process - some parts look really time-consuming, but I appreciate how real you are about it. Love love love your art and work!

I learned a lot about Illustrator from you and how to use a punch needle. I never could figure how its stitches stayed in!
Thanks for the suggestions 😁✌🏿 another person commented about making pounce patterns and I might try it soon, glad you liked the video
Just got recommended this video on my UA-cam homepage.
The algorithm is blessing you, my man. This channel about to blow up, get ready
UA-cam recommended me this and I have zero regrets. This is insanely helpful!
That’s so sick 😁✌🏿
The YT algorithm has been giving me so much weird shit the past days, looks like it's getting back to normal again, great content! Got a new follower
This is such a pretty rug with beautiful colors. I've been thinking about learning punch rugs recently and this is really making me really hype to start. Great work man
One of the best tutorials I've ever had the pleasure of watching. You explain everything so eloquently and in a way that anyone could understand. Bravo!
I have always loved yarn mediums, never knew about this til I came across this channel. knit/crochet hurts my hands these days, thinking this might be easier but satisfy my neeeeeeeed for yarn craft
i just started learning punch hooking and i love how thorough you are!!
Thank you, hope you’re enjoying it
I don`t understand how the loops stay and it doesn:t unwind!!?
Wow, you did such an amazing job! I think you also just taught me what I've been doing wrong every time I try to do punch needle art lol. So thank you so much for not only sharing your brilliant creativity and techniques of rug creation but for also helping to teach us how to punch needle in general!
Thank you to the UA-cam DIY algorithm goddess for recommending this😭😭
i feel like you would really love using an ipad and pro create. it would cut a lot these corners, not having to sketch and slowly use adobe! thanks for sharing your process tho! its fascinating and youre amazing!!!
frickin awesome. I love it! top tip from a crocheter, when you are finishing your thread ends try to take the thread back and forth a couple of times. this is what I learned and I have never had an item unravel. I wish I could do what you do, I got lost with the computery bit so I skipped ahead to the yarny bit. I did like listening to the way you gather ideas and colours though.
The sound when he punches through the fabric *Chochlea tingles*
Your whole channel is exactly what I’ve needed! You make this so approachable 💛 thank you so much for sharing your expertise !!
I don't know you, I didn't even watch the full video, but it feel so good to see a black boy with such creativity and artistic skills. You're so talented. I subscribe 👌🏾
(Sorry for my English I originally speak French🤷🏽♀️😅)
Thanks for watching ❤️
Just saw you on The Sorry Girls. Your videos look amazing - can't wait to dive in.
Thanks for coming over 😁✌🏿
Holy crap I love this!! ♥️ I've been wanting to get a rug for my room for a while now, maybe I can try and make one following this tutorial lol
You should 😁✌🏿
You are an incredible teacher, I’m blown away.
Thanks for showing your process. It's such a good point that in the middle of a project things aren't going to look like you imagine them to, and you just need to keep going til the end. I often leave projects half done for that very reason. Trying to kick the habit. Haha.
It turned out so freaking beautiful! The whip stitch is such a nice touch.
I've never heard of punch rugs before. They remind me of latch hooks with a smaller pile though.
