You’re very knowledgeable on the camera specs. I think you’ve talked me into the iPhone pro max, but what’s holding me back is fitting it into my front jeans pocket. Great video.
Would you sacrifice the larger size to get the 5x zoom or keep the regular pro and have the 3x? Still learning about photography and videography. Just wondering which one is usually used more…
I always go for the biggest phone personally, generally the telephoto isn’t the most important but that’s usually because it’s pretty low quality. I’d wait for the reviews once the phone is out to see how the telephoto is
I’ve tried the Plus larger phones for a couple years before 7/8 and it just was not as comfortable in everyday use so the 15 Pro is the sweet spot for me.
The ultra wide the most used lens? I don’t think so. Apple’s 5x tele IS a periscope lens. All that means is that the light is bent 90 degrees on its way to the sensor. Apple used prisms to make the camera shorter.
I have a feeling that those digital zoom crops aren't gonna be as good as native zoom, especially in low light environments. The iPhone 15 Pro will probably perform better than the PM in 3x photography
@@MikeLitoris They should've done like Samsung and Xiaomi and instead put both a 3x and a longer focal camera. Or they could've used a variable zoom camera
@@kiwisorbettoo many cameras. I’d love to see an optical zoom, but that’s going to be tough to fit in, even with a periscope. What I’ve always wanted was a small bayonet mount around the main camera for “high quality” lenses. They can be almost as small as the ones we can get now, but would be better centered and more parallel. Since you don’t need focusing or F stops, a small zoom would be great.
So a smaller sensor means it won't perform as well in low light I don't think phones will ever outdo a camera and I think this is a ridiculous attempt it's not 48 megapixels it's 12 megapixels x 4 and everyone knows that don't kid yourself if you try and enlarge one of those photos to a print it just picks the lights really quickly
I never said a “real” camera is going to get replaced by phones. It is 48MP but that doesn’t mean in any way could it resolve 48MP as well as a “real” camera would. That all comes down to the quality and size of the glass. But if you’ve seen any iPhone 14Pro comparisons the extra resolution does make a sizeable difference - even 12MP to 24MP will be huge this year
The problem with apple upgrading the phone every year just feeds in to the whole addiction of upgrading all the time what ends up happening is people don't work harder at their skill set they expect the gear to do it for them
There not going to keep it stagnant every year lol. While I agree to an extent, phone cameras are mostly used for capturing moments with family and friends more than commercial or other forms of photography. In the Keynote they said that the 15 Pro has a larger sensor. Did they mean larger than the 15 or larger than the 14 Pro? I am confused and a bit disappointed if the 15 Pro had the same lens and sensor as the 14 pro in the wide and ultra wide camera
@@HarrisonTong you are one of the first people to talk about this, correctly too! So many UA-camrs are saying that the 15 Pro has a larger sensor than the 14 Pro (including MKBHD and some pro photographers), but in the keynote apple said larger than the 15!
Yes in the 24mm, 28mm and 35mm modes you crop in - 1.2x in 28mm and 1.5x in 35mm mode. But because you get a 24 MP image in all these virtual focal lengths, the 48 MP of the sensor is enough to have sufficient sharpness data for the cropped 28mm and 35mm focal length images. So you probably won't be able to tell the difference between the 24 MP variants in 24mm, 28mm and 35mm. Of course, the situation is different if you take a 48 MP image - but then you don't have the choice of focal lengths. So you have to decide what is more important to you - resolution or low-light quality. If low-light quality is your main focus, then activate the 24 MP mode, as it combines a 12 MP and a 48 MP image to give you the best of both worlds - and as a bonus, you can switch between the virtual focal lengths without any loss of quality. But if you put your main focus on resolution, then disable the 24 MP mode and take 48 MP photos without the access to virtual focal lengths. The only thing I don't know is if you can take photos at 12 MP with the main sensor, if you want to take full advantage of the low-light capabilities of the binned sensor.
His whole argument revolves around how they advertise FF focal lengths but not FF apertures which is disingenuous. Knowing the aperture for the given sensor size is way more important as it gives you an indication of the light gathering capabilities. Everyone knows the aperture would not be equivalent to a FF lens so his arguments are stupid. He’s just riding the anger to get engagement
