Great. You're the first person I hear saying you'd rather have a better sensor in the 3x than the same sensor on the 5x. Zoom photography is so underrated. Thanks for the video.

Notwithstanding the heavy Casetify promo, this is a really good video because it just focuses in on one specific aspect of the new iPhone 15. Seeing that Olivio Rodrigo video and some of those photos made me think about upgrading from iPhone 13 Pro Max more than I had previously.

Portrait mode working with pets was specifically in reference to face detection triggering Portrait mode automatically ... That feature also works with pet faces. Portrait mode has always worked when you've had a strong subject to focus on, pets or not.
Worth pointing out the 48MP HEIF capture is coming to the 14 Pro as well. It's been added in the iOS 17 RC - the ProRAW toggle can now change between 48MP HEIF, 48MP RAW or 12MP RAW.
While I realize that all the focal lengths aren’t “real” - they’re cropped… I appreciate that they’re there. And they’re labelled in mm rather than “x” on the Pro models. I love shooting in 35mm, and having that just there to quickly select is convenient. I’d mainly like to see how the processing has changed - if the heif files aren’t as oversharpened this time around. I’m sticking with my 13 Pro Max for at least another year, but that’s been my main annoyance with it. If I shoot in ProRaw, I have reasonably detailed files that I can minimally sharpen to my liking. If I don’t, I’m left with too-aggressive sharpening baked into the file if lighting isn’t optimal.
I’m confused about how this work on the phone. Different focal lengths is not just cropping, the lens actually distorts the light and faces looks very different at different focal lengths. Are we going to get the same effects here, or is this just cropping?
@@pressrepeat2000 If you're in the same location and pointing your camera at the same scene, then zooming is (kind of) like cropping, except that you keep the full resolution. But the perspective remain the same, in that situation. It's only if you move closer that the perspective changes.
thank you@@tomburke5311 we need to end that misconception. if you use a wider focal length, someone's face gets distorted when (and only when) you step closer to recompose. the main difference between zooming and cropping is that you aren't generally altering the effective f-stop in terms of depth-of-field. The difference between a 2x crop and 2x teleconverter is even more subtle and arcane.
@@pressrepeat2000as Tom says, that’s not correct. It’s only when you move your position/perspective that the compression effect kicks in. I think it’s being a little picky Tyler complaining about Apple calling out 7 different focal lengths. There are real camera brands that do this, for e.g Leica Q3. Plus lots of smaller sensor cameras state their focal length in 35mm terms (when it is really a crop relative to a FF).
@@walrusgumboot This is very useful. What do you all think about the fact that we now only get a 12mm, 24mm and 120mm equivalent lenses? I like shooting at 50mm, especially portraits, and this seems to now mean that I can only get a cropped, very low resolution picture. At least on the 14 Pro we got 77mm equivalent. But I would have loved a fourth 2x 48mm/50mm lens on there. I think the 8 plus, XS and 11 Pro were the last ones to have that.
The 120mm pro max lens is cool… but considering you have to spend $200 more, carry a larger phone, and jump from a 24mm to a 120mm… I think the 85mm of the pro (non max) is the go to in most scenarios. I’d much rather have my “7 lenses” be macro-85mm than have a large gap from 52mm to 120, especially with the 52mm being a sensor cropped 24mm. You kind of lose a standard portrait lens focal length.
YES! This. I want to upgrade to the max but loosing the 3x means all my 3x photos from now on would be digi zoom 😪🤢🤦🏼♂️ 5x is just too much for what i use it for most of the time
I can't wait to see your full review videos, particularly for the standard iPhone 15. It seems to me it is bringing a lot of "pro" camera features without the "pro" complexity. Producing 24 mega pixel photos standard (on a 48 mp sensor) and automagically capturing depth info to be applied later may be huge.
I love iJustine and your channel because you guys focus a lot on camera than anyone else, which I found it entertaining and impressive. You guys inspired me to love mobile photography. 💕💕
The Spatial Video on iPhone 15 Pro was a nice surprise announcement; glad we didn't have to wait for Vision Pro to be available and then the following iPhone that has the capability to come out. Agree, it'll be interesting to see how it works with lenses close to one another given that the AVP has so many cameras. Let's see this magic happen! (I haven't seen the AVP's spatial videos and have so many questions, but hopefully it stays on-track for an early 2024 debut!)
The LIDAR sensor is surely part of what will make the Spatial video work with such close-together cameras. I do WISH they'd spread those cameras out just a little more, but maybe with a little algorithmic magic it'll pull it off really well. Definitely the most exciting announcement of the entire show for me... and one I was really hoping for ever since the Vision Pro was announced.
There’s no doubt that having a greater distance between the lenses would give a more 3D look, but I’m guessing Apple can still make it look pretty good because the lenses are different focal lengths. That said, I hope the 16 Pro Max has a fourth lens on the opposite corner to make the 3D effect even better.
@@Ryan256 That's a great idea. Maximize depth and texture data! Really boosting the power of the LIDAR, along with improved chip speeds for real-time 3d-modelling data would also make a HUGE difference. Improving the resolution that scanner can detect at will be huge.
Thank you for the great video going over the major camera features on the new phones. 9:23 One minor point, the screen size is staying the same. The “thinner bezels” result in a slightly smaller phone body. Might mean a larger perceived display, but spec wise they’re the same size as the 14’s.
I'm curious to see how Apple are getting 24MP shots from the 12MP/"48MP" sensor. Also great to see HDR has been updated to be more natural with darker shadows
Upscaling. There are other videos showing the fall in quality. Bumping up the size with the quality decrease is the marketing trick to make you pay more for iCloud. A cheat.
this one seems to be the biggest negative news. From what I am seeing this will results in worse picture quality. But need some clarification.
Рік тому+4
That portrait mode was meant, that iPhone will recognize that you are taking pictures of people, and automatically it is going to include depth map with the photo, so that you can later decide to change that photo into a portrait photo. When they mentioned pets, they meant the same thing. It will understand you are taking picture of pet and it will automatically embed depth map, so that you can later turn that photo into portrait image. Its also convenient for apple because it means your photos will get larger (because they are now going to save not only bigger 24 megapixel images but will also include depth map automatically) which means you will need more iCloud storage. How convenient for them. haha
can you please do an in depth video & photo comparison (and a general comparison between them) of the regular 15, the 14 pro and if possible the s23. i need to decide between these phones before early oct lol
A better solution to the lack of a real variable zoom would have been to keep the 3x telephoto lens but put another 48 megapixel sensor behind it. Cropping the image would give you a 6x telephoto 12 megapixel image. Combined with the standard 1x main camera you would have a variable zoom from 1x to 6x
Supposedly the A16 chip (from last year’s IP14 Pro models) doesn’t have the USB3 controller built into the SOC, which is why the iPhone 15 is stuck on USB2. Assuming next year’s IP16 follows the same A series chip cadence, it should have USB3 from this year’s A17 chip.
I’ve noticed the metering is highly dependent on digital zoom, so it’s not “exactly” the same as cropping. I much prefer the 35 and 50mm focal lengths, so setting one of those as default, and getting the correct metering, will be very helpful.
God bless you for not referring to the 5X lens as a “zoom” lens, which it clearly isn’t. Like the other physical lenses on the iPhone - it is a fixed focal length lens with all the advantages those lenses bring. 👏🏻
Exactly, one disadvantage is giving up the 77mm lens on the Pro. My biggest question is how much is that focal length compromised compared to the Pro? Is the Max more like a 13-50 + 120 vs. a 13-77?
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M Yup. If it doesn’t have moveable optical elements - it’s not a “zoom” lens. Any talk of zoom range is all about digital zoom. Period. The prism vs periscope stuff is just sloppy thinking.
@@pdcorlis I am aware, and I did not refer to them as a zoom. Apple digitally zooms to create the illusion of a traditional zoom lens and presumably, that will be difficult jumping between 24mm and 110mm because it's all digital between those two fixed focal lengths. So... my question remains, does the Max give up clarity at th 77mm length because it's digitally cropping hard to get there, vs. the Pro? I think the answer is yes, but everyone's only talking about the advantage of the Max in length, not the disadvantage of inferior 77mm digital zoom.
That’s a very good point and I suspect you’re right. Personally, I only use the lenses at their native focal length for that reason. Unless Apple has pulled off a computational miracle there is no way a “digital zoomed” focal length can compete with a native focal length lens.@@j0hn22
Your Canon CLog lut has been my favorite for the Sony ZV-E10 cine profile. It somehow just matched up perfectly and I use it for every conversion since purchasing it.
The reason the iPhone 15 is only USB 2.0 is because it's using the A16 Bionic chip, which already existed before the migration to the new port and already has a USB controller onboard which is USB 2.0. - There were a lot of rumors about moving to USB C equating to also being USB 3.0, but USB 2.0 over USB C is rather common and I'm not sure why people made those assumptions. But I am thrilled that the Pro/Pro Max gets 3.0 since it's a new chip and includes a new controller, though I would have preferred USB 4. As for cameras though, this is an incredible year for the iPhone all around TBH! The main lineup hasn't gotten a significant jump like this as you said, especially since they'll be doing the binning and "photonic" processing down to 24MP images instead of 12MP. Hoping the quality is where we need it to be! Also, just to add some extra details on the "focal lengths" thing... For 1.2x and 1.5x, they both output binned 24MP images the way the 1x mode does, binned and processed through their pipeline. So it's not just a crop in the sense that the main 1x 24MP output wouldn't generally be called a crop so much as a binned output. The 2x, however, does crop in from there, resulting in 12MP output.
18:45 - Yes, as you pointed out, how can you get correct 3D effect from lenses only a little over a cm apart?! I guess it would work for fairly close-up objects, but…
Since i am a bit late iPhone 15 Pro Max owner (i am always hesitant with new devices) i will add my personal thoughts about these cameras. A short background first: i am a hobbyist photographer for the last decade. I started with DSLR's (a Canon 7D was my first, then i went to full frame 5D mk III until a changed to a Sony system with an a7II and the a6000 (APSC). For various reasons i sold all the FF stuff and now i am using only my lovely a6000 and a triplet of primes, all of them MF vintage lenses, a 35mm (equivalent), a 50mm and a 135mm (hold that for later). I am shooting exclusively during weekends or vacations, 90% of the time cityscapes and 10% landscapes and mostly during blue/golden hour (i like the afternoon sun only for monochrome shots). Now lets talk about the 15 Pro Max... i was always skeptical about phone cameras because of their limited raw capabilities and their weak lenses but this time there are numerous things that, all together, makes these cameras capable of more serious (than the past) photographic work. 1) Apple, for the first time, uses the term "lenses" and actual focal lengths rather than the traditional x zoom levels. As i said above, my usual routine is to change between three lenses and i even missing the very useful (for architecture) 24 and 28mm. The iPhone now provide me every possible focal length i need for my shots and with the best possible resolution, not just by traditional crop. 2) there's something this year with the overall rendering of the photos that satisfy me a lot. For example, i am shooting only raw with my camera and edit every single image on Lightroom Classic. I am not overedit my images, i prefer natural looking tones and a little muted colors but with strong contrast. Guess what! Using the Rich Contrast preset on the iPhone i have the look i would have edit for 8/10 times! I don't talking about image quality (still at 100% zoom my a6000 wins by a big margin, but i don't care that much for it). I am so impressed though by the SooC photos from iPhone that i don't even need to make any edit at all (except for the vignette that i like to add for artistic purposes). And 3) lastly, i decided to make a risky move. I have the habit to print one photo every single month for my personal collection on fine art paper at A3 size. The 40euros (shipping included) for that one photo makes me very picky about what i am printing and this time i tried to print a photo shot on my 15 Pro Max a few days after i bought it. It was shot with the main camera at 24mm, JPEG (not raw) and with minimal edits in the default iPhone editor... The result print of that 24mp file was impressively nice! I thing that this time around, though its not that realistic to say about a mirrorless replacement, the iPhone can definitely be a trustee camera companion (or even a complementary camera?) for non professional photographers.
The reason why 15 has USB2, is because it still has last years SOC, the USB controller is built in to this so you can't upgrade it without putting in the new SOC A17, since they chose not to, the shape of the plug can change to C, but the bridge is still whatever lightning had.
I’ve been looking forward for a significant optical zoom on a phone ever since I had a Xiaomi with a 10x digital zoom which was very unsharp and grainy, but allowed me to get those shots you just happen to run into. Like coming on a roo with a Joey (ie baby) in her pouch, both of them grazing - the Joey was in the pouch! Chances of having my micro 4/3 camera with a telephoto on it just about nil. So I learned that a telephoto is quite a different feature on a phone. I ‘ve sprung for the 15 Pro Max. Nice to have a photographer’s perspective.
Finally - A UA-camr who talks about ALL of the feaures. You even discussed briefly the ‘smooth zoom’ which as a videographer I am super interested in. On my Iphone 14 Pro Max I get the clunky jump when it switches lenses during a zoom!! Please experiment with this when you get the new Pro Max model!! Much appreciated 👏👏👏
Hear it just changes the crop factor of one lens. They called cropping as the lenses. A marketing trick. You can say iPhone has 2360 lenses. Why not? But 7 sound magical.
Ppl say now you can have one cable but what if you have multiple USB-C devices. You will bring more than one cable to charge multiple devices. I really don’t see the difference besides one cable being USB-C rather than lightning.
HEY! It would Be interesting if you could Test and see if the "Prioritize Faster Shooting" setting in the Main camera app still effect images quality in a bad way! Great video BTW! 👍😎
The funny part about Twitter trolls complaining about USB C is that they were asleep this past year. The EU law went live last year, and almost (if not every) Apple tech UA-cam channel has been talking about this.
You've convinced me, I was thinking of getting a pro max this time but I think I'll stick with the pro. I don't really need a long telephoto, I shoot predominantly Landscape and Industrial plus the phone always sits in my top shirt pocket so size does matter.
I’m a retired photojournalist and before I retired I was using a Nikon D700 and D610. Just curious how the images look straight out of the camera before running it through a photo editor
I agree their terminology re telephoto is very misleading sometimes even using "optical" incorrectly. They are using a fair amount of digital zoom and, I assume, interpolation/computational photography. Simply cropping in to an equivalent focal length doesn't create the same image as a lens of the actual focal length. My guess is it's just a fancy crop and relative sizes of foreground and background objects will not change.
My only question with the regular 15 and the 48 megapixel camera.. is how do you access that feature when you can only do that with Apple Raw.. that’s only available on the pro model?
Unrelated, but I noticed you were in Stockholm! Which hotel were you staying at? I’ll be in Stockholm next summer and am looking for hotels to stay at.
Just to point out the screen isn't biger due to the smaller bezels, the dimensions of the phone have shrun a tiny bit instead other than it has become a slightly bit thicker.
The 5x lens is a real disappointment. It’s not a zoom but a fixed focal length lens. That means all zooming from 1x to 4.9x will be digital. The 3x lens on the standard pro will be better in quality and probably more useful. 5x is too long for most users and too short for telephotography. Major disappointment. We were led to expect a true variable periscope zoom lens. The camera system on the 15 pro is exactly the same as the 14 pro aside from anti reflective coating.
What do you usually end up doing with all the tech you buy for review? Do you just keep everything for future tests? Sell what you don’t use? I’m curious how UA-camrs handle that kind of thing
Nobody is addressing the loss of the 3x on the 15PM. I want to upgrade to the PM but I take too many 3X photos. On a 15PM that will mean I’m using 3X digi zoom 🤢🤦🏼♂️
Here’s how this works….So we still get 24mp that gets upscaled to 48. So double the file size for the same resolution…..making you pay for more iCloud space. 7 new cameras equals 7 crops that you can do on the iPhone 14 pro max. 120 focal replaces the 70 focal length?!?! WTF Apple??!!! So now when I crop to 70, I lose resolution. Yes, that’s how that works. Such bS marketing.
Welp. Didn't understand the technical aspects at all. You're not getting 24 MP upscaled to 48 MP. You get 48MP downscaled to 24 MP. I'd like to remind you, that no Samsung, previous iPhone or other major flagship had 24 MP set as the standard save resolution for images and that they all used 12 MP instead. The new 24 MP images occupy about 1.5x more storage than the 12 MP files did. But because Apple uses HEIF, the file sizes are still substantially smaller than any images that Android spits out at 12 MP. And you aren't getting 7 crops. You get 3 lenses and the ability to digitally crop into the main 1x camera to get lossless zoom. Lossless zoom means that instead of capturing a 48 MP image and cropping it down to 24 MP, you only use the middle 24 (in the case of 2x) MP to capture the image. This way, the result has the same MP count and resolution as any other image taken by the 1x main camera, whilst being a 2x crop (essentially 2x zoom). Obviously, you can apply this method to literally all substages of sensor crop between 1x and 2x and therefore have an infinite amount of zoom stages. Apple made 3 presets for zoom stages, that each come with they're unique processing pipeline to get the best out of the image. These presets are 1,2x 1,5x and 2x. They advertise it as if it was additional lenses which isn't true. You get multiple crops that shoot full resolution images of what would be the result of that focal length. You don't have three actual lenses but you get (almost) the same result that 3 extra lenses would get you. There is a slight drop in image quality but you'd really have to take pixelpicking to the extremest to notice. As for trading the 77mm for the 120mm it's up to preference. The 1x looks good enough up until 5x where the telephoto kicks in so you don't really lose too much. The main camera has a better performing sensor that manages to hide most of the lost quality even when shooting 4,9x. Obviously it's not comparable to an actual 3x but the further reach means a greater zoom range which is good.
I hope that Apple(And Samsung)adress the problem with oversharpening/overHDR on Photos/Videos untill they put some larger sensor in their phones to mitigate that.
Ansel Adams once said that the image should be in your mind before pressing the button. Any camera is good. A good understanding of focal length/aperture/ lighting is what is necessary to make a good picture. Don't get immerse in technicalities. You may drown the creative part.
Quick question, will the new stuff on iPhone 15 coming to iPhone 14 pro as well? Like the new camera and stuff. Because from the way i see it, hardware-wise, they both are almost the same thing
Crop zoom? USB 2.0? I´m looking for the macro feature on the "regular" models.... The ultra wide camera has 12mp and 2.4 aperture while ip13pro has 1.8 aperture.... why?
Hey @Tyler Stalman. Can you please try to explain want quality of video we might realistically expect with the special video recording option since it’s using two different cameras to do this? Thanks for your time. Awesome video.
Do I need the Pro max 15 to be able to store videos directly from the phone to external drive as you described in your video? Or just the 15 pro can do it. Kindly advise. Love your demo show. Love your cases.
8:00 - This “lizard” image struck me as puzzling: It has quite a bit of motion blur, and yet they say the shutter speed was an 842nd! That little guy must have been moving really fast! At least I certainly _hope_ it’s motion blur and not lens aberrations!
I've been taking reference images of building materials to understand their textures, sadly I can only do that with my Sony camera, because the iphone starts adding all kind of filters, grading the colors and contrasting it. It is unfortunate that the iphone cannot be used for serious work where color accuracy is important.
Should I upgrade from the 14 Pro to the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max? Currently, I have the iPhone 14 Pro Space Black 256GB which has scrolling stuttering, battery life is bad, and it has lags in games and overheating issues. So for that reason I'm interested in getting the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max. I'm still not sure which model to get in your opinion if battery and camera is important for me and I used a 12PM size before the 14P that I currently have. If you could choose in my situation, would you go for the 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max this year coming from a 12 Pro Max, 13 Pro and a 14 Pro? And, is 256Gb enough? If I'm only using the regular 12MP photos and 4K 60fps regular videos most of the time, and sometimes only when I need to I shoot a 48MP on pro raw. And as for the colors, I wonder if the Natural Titanium color will look good on cases compared to the White Titanium color. But other than that, I prefer the Natural over the White one. Would you still go for the Natural Titanium?
Ip is really proud of that potrait features using the main camera which they introduce for it's 15's series..android have had it for years. Pixel phone have it since P4a I think...anyway beside cameras Ip should have split screen at least for the pro max.

Agreed the 77mm is much more usable
YES! This.
I want to upgrade to the max but loosing the 3x means all my 3x photos from now on would be digi zoom 😪🤢🤦🏼♂️
5x is just too much for what i use it for most of the time
Finally I feel like no one else wants to upgrade to the max bc of the size but doesn't want to loose the 3x 😪@@JonnyD3ath
@@SigM1811 the struggle is real.

Might mean a larger perceived display, but spec wise they’re the same size as the 14’s.
true, didn’t do his research
3:56 Casetify really needs to work on pricing for international customers but I loved the bounce made for us serial droppers.
How convenient for them. haha
You can save photo in external drive...
Thank you, Tyler. Your production quality continues to impress me more and more with each video.
Great vid, Tyler. Really appreciate you highlighting the difference between zoom/crop and focal length.
can you please do an in depth video & photo comparison (and a general comparison between them) of the regular 15, the 14 pro and if possible the s23. i need to decide between these phones before early oct lol
Variable zoom? Zoom's already variable - focal length. Do i zoom when swap lenses on my camera?
@@j0hn22 Since none of these lenses have moveable optical elements - any zoom range referred to is digital (bad) zoom.
Unless Apple has pulled off a computational miracle there is no way a “digital zoomed” focal length can compete with a native focal length lens.@@j0hn22

sensor size does not affect aperture number only depth of field for that aperture
Terrific review. So professional and good narration which is rare. Thank you! Much appreciated.
Excellent overview! Thank you Tyler!
Your videos are a masterclass
Missed opportunity with the Ultrawide. Sad, because I love the macro shots and those aren’t going to be improved.
The 2x camera is a sensor crop not digital zoom. It’s like using a full frame lens on an aps-c camera.
I was looking for an explanation on all the lenses so thanks for that
Stockholm! My former home. Hope you had a good time there. Great video, BTW!
They need to move the flashlight shortcut -_-
Everyone and myself turning on their phone flashes everyday.
The reason why 15 has USB2, is because it still has last years SOC, the USB controller is built in to this so you can't upgrade it without putting in the new SOC A17, since they chose not to, the shape of the plug can change to C, but the bridge is still whatever lightning had.
Very interesting, that makes sense. I should look in to it
I’ve been looking forward for a significant optical zoom on a phone ever since I had a Xiaomi with a 10x digital zoom which was very unsharp and grainy, but allowed me to get those shots you just happen to run into.
Your reviews are absolutely exceptional. Thank you.
About Casetify
I don’t remember when I got mine when they first came out. Had a dragon design. The design didn’t last long.
Are they better now?
Great video but I thought they mentioned the Pro does get an upgraded ultra wide lens for better low light performance
I hope the wide angle copes a lot better in low light. And blacker black for nightscapes.
AWESOME JOB, man!!
Brilliant review! You stopped me from upgrading just yet 😜 waiting for real reviews
9:21 this is incorrect. The smaller bezels mean a slightly smaller phone not a slightly larger screen
I always look forward to your tests! I ordered a Pro-the Max is too big for me...
I’d love the usb port but for my needs I feel like I could get almost everything I want from the 15 pro has on a old/used iPhone 14 pro
iphone 14 pro max used to process the photos automatically in a very annoying way...is this problem still in the 15 pro max?
6:02 A fun day at the office conducting this experiment. Fab! 👏🏽
HEY! It would Be interesting if you could Test and see if the "Prioritize Faster Shooting" setting in the Main camera app still effect images quality in a bad way! Great video BTW! 👍😎

With you comment of preferring the telephoto lens not getting bigger. It did get 25% bigger sensor lens in the Pro Max
The funny part about Twitter trolls complaining about USB C is that they were asleep this past year. The EU law went live last year, and almost (if not every) Apple tech UA-cam channel has been talking about this.
That’s Twitter, they’ll get on any hate train cause they saw it on their home screen

Just curious how the images look straight out of the camera before running it through a photo editor
when you shoot raw there is no other option than at least converting it (with altering included...) jpeg or so.

I'm not seeing any information of Apple adding 'anti reflective coating' to the camera glass?
9:20 The screen size isn’t bigger! The overall phone is just a bit smaller!
Do you already have some LUTs available?
I agree their terminology re telephoto is very misleading sometimes even using "optical" incorrectly. They are using a fair amount of digital zoom and, I assume, interpolation/computational photography. Simply cropping in to an equivalent focal length doesn't create the same image as a lens of the actual focal length. My guess is it's just a fancy crop and relative sizes of foreground and background objects will not change.
they just copied features from Sony Xperia 5V, Sony recently abandoned telephoto lens with this model.
My only question with the regular 15 and the 48 megapixel camera.. is how do you access that feature when you can only do that with Apple Raw.. that’s only available on the pro model?
you don't have pro raw but the 48mp in HEIC
I had this same question! And since the 15 has the same tech as the 14 Pro, will the 14 Pro get the 24 megapixel option?
@@MatthewVlossak even a better question!! 💯

Anyone know the location shot at 12:25?
The 5x lens is a real disappointment. It’s not a zoom but a fixed focal length lens. That means all zooming from 1x to 4.9x will be digital. The 3x lens on the standard pro will be better in quality and probably more useful. 5x is too long for most users and too short for telephotography. Major disappointment. We were led to expect a true variable periscope zoom lens.
The camera system on the 15 pro is exactly the same as the 14 pro aside from anti reflective coating.
Because only Sony has 85-125 zoom lens.
What do you usually end up doing with all the tech you buy for review? Do you just keep everything for future tests? Sell what you don’t use? I’m curious how UA-camrs handle that kind of thing
I remember people saying we should thank the EU for Apple using USB-C.
Nobody is addressing the loss of the 3x on the 15PM.
I want to upgrade to the PM but I take too many 3X photos.
On a 15PM that will mean I’m using 3X digi zoom 🤢🤦🏼♂️
Im curious if youve watched Tony Northrupps video on the 15. He really bashes the camera on the 15. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on it
Here’s how this works….So we still get 24mp that gets upscaled to 48.
I hope that Apple(And Samsung)adress the problem with oversharpening/overHDR on Photos/Videos untill they put some larger sensor in their phones to mitigate that.
no chance.
Knowing Apple I'd say I don't think so...
Wouldn’t Casetify’s lens cover diminish the quality of the photos and or allow more dust to get under the cover, also making photos worse?
