What are your thoughts on the pro max when zoomed between 3x to 4.9x? Will it be lower quality than the pro?
macro is cropped wide lens,
then its just cropped using main lens till 3rd lens (120mm for pro max) its gonna look like shit, dont get fooled by the "7 lens" its got 3 and crops for the others
I've watched some videos recently from professional photographers, and they're calling this 7 lens marketing gimmick nonsense. It's just cropping, plain, and simple. It's cropping with a setting 😅 I'm sticking with the 14 pro for a while. I'm not feeling this upgrade.
Tired of people saying that the 48MP sensor on the 15 is the same as the 14 Pro. It is not. Not sure where everyone is hearing this. The 15 Pro has the same 48MP sensor as the 14 Pro. The 15's sensor is smaller in size.
I totally agree and it shows people saying the 48MP Sensor on the 15 Pro is the same as the 14 Pro don’t have Scooby Doo Clue what they are talking about…
Upgrading from the 12pm, it’s still a fantastic phone, but it has two major shortcomings i hope the 15pm fixes. The first being the 12pm extreme screen dimming when in hot environments making it impossible to see it when outdoors in the summer. The second being the constraint and image quality differences between the ultra wide camera and the other two. Plus I am so happy a pacific blue like colour is back.
As always an amazingly informative video Anthony...not to mention super timely delivery ! This has really helped me make up my mind to upgrade to the 15 Pro Max at launch this Friday :) Thanks!

They haven't released specific recommendations yet but I like the Samsung T7 shield.

0:52 this is an error. The regular models get a 48 MP sensor but it is not the same as the pros from last year. It’s a smaller sensor size with a wider aperture
4:00 you can simply swipe left from the Lock Screen to get to your camera faster on the iPhone
Is the regular iphone 15 48mp better than the iphone 14 pro?
@@rmcf3972 I don’t think the lens is but the overall system might be since it will have the new smart HDR 5 system. The sensor is smaller but it has a wider aperture so it’s hard to tell

Thanks for the input. I will be moving from a 12 pro max to a 15 pro, I think. I used the 12 last week at a wedding I shot for some last minute content and it convinced me to start using my phone more for video....now I have to learn editing and so upgrading seems like a no brainer.

May i know, if we still rely on main camera but add-on external lens (widelens , long macro, telephoto lens), is it there is no different between iphone 14 pro max and iphone 15 pro max? Since camera phone zoom may cause reduce resolution or quality, is it better just add-on external lens for main lens?

Apple always gives you an illusion that the new iPhone will help you make great professional photos or videos, but in real scenario no one would ever use iPhone for a professional commercial.
Obviously, a true professional camera set-up is necessary for a professional commercial. Obviously, a professional will not show up to a commercial photo shoot with just an iPhone camera. But the iPhone does an awesome job for its size when lighting conditions are good. Many small businesses use the iPhone for their commercial videos, and the typical consumer is not able to differentiate/complain about the iPhone video quality--if the person behind the iPhone knows a reasonable amount about filming. Apple iPhone promos now are shot on actual iPhones. Obviously, that iPhone promo is supported by an incredible amount of extra equipment and specialists--that most people will not have. But most people don't have top end photography equipment either. The Apple promos prove what is possible with a simple iPhone, although it is not completely realistic.

Thank you for this video. I'm still using my iPhone 11 and want to upgrade, but not sure if i should wait for 15 Pro or go with 14 Pro. I used to film all my content on my phone but recently got a Sony camera (zv-e10 with extra nice 16mm 1.4f lens).
(wait as in, it's not immediately available from my provider so it will be a while before i'd actually get it)

I have a 13 PM and I’ve been debating whether I should upgrade to the 15 PM. I do a lot of wildlife photography but I use a DSLR with telephoto lens for that. I use my iPhone for landscape photography and videos and I like creating reels for Instagram and videos for UA-cam. My 13 PM only has 128GB and thats just not enough storage especially when I’m cruising and am unable to transfer videos and photos while I’m at sea. So I’m thinking of upgrading for the telephoto lens and the increased storage 256 GB

Thanks for this, it confirms that I should be very happy with the 15 Pro Max I ordered. The extra zoom, low light pics, and USBC were my tie breakers. It looks like it will be an even more massive upgrade from my Gen 1 SE (that I've got 6 years out of but is now dying) than I had appreciated. I've watched a few of your videos now to understand how best to use this. Hopefully I can make it last as long to justify the price (not being in the pool on my yacht ;) ).
Upgrading from an iPhone 8 Plus Red Edition to the 15 Pro Max Black Titanium. This is about to be a huge upgrade for me!! I'm still rocking the home button until next Friday, it was finally time.

That's a great question! My guess is there will be splitters that become available to connect both at once.
What happens between the standard focal length and the 120mm lens in terms of quality?
There’s another UA-cam review by a real photographer that points out the misleading marketing of that telephoto lens as a ”zoom” lens. They said the quality of the 77mm equivalent digital zoom is noticeably inferior to the results produced by the older 77mm telephoto lens.
Try a De-Esser on your audio. High "S" are very sharp
I'm not big on waste or having the latest gadgets. Whether it be my car, clothes, camera gear and phone I tend to replace it only after I run it into the ground. However, with the release of 15 Pro Max being far more of a capable tool, now I'm seriously considering an upgrade.

What hard drive do you have attached to the phone during recording in that bit of the video? How are clipping that HD to the phone clip?
That is just a clip from the apple launch video it is not my video. So I can't say for sure what they were using

Thanks Anthony, I have XS Max so I plan to upgrade to 15 Pro Max mainly because it’s time, would love to have access to better lens and camera and Also because I love that I don’t need to get 512 gig or higher phone, I can instead do 256 gig and rely on the direct record to external Hard drive via usb c cable feature. I also think some of the changes we’re seeing may have something to do with some of the relationships apple has with developers like the makers of DaVinci resolve and the like (I.e. color advancement standards and giving us more detail in shots to work with during post work) knowing content creators are wanting to do more with their devices. At this rate I kinda feel by the time we get to iPhone 18 and above apple might even impact sales for camera’s with crop sensors. We’ll see smartphones …. __… and then mirrorless cameras with full size sensors and little to no smaller number of non smartphone cameras with crop sensors being sold as a result. Time will tell though 🤔🤷🏾…😊.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max… last year was the first I hadn’t upgraded my iPhone since the iPhone 8. Not sure if I should upgrade. I want the 5x zoom and USB-C but next year will be the 5 year design refresh so not sure yet. Price for 2x extra and a port that makes me carry one less cord around isn’t a deal breaker. Might just wait. Still debating with myself lol. I’m sure many are as well.
Same here. Ive got 13pro. Got my hands on 15pm today and it is a big difference. It has so much nicer screen since its a lot brighter and hdr is better, 5x tele was amazing, usb c would be nice but the build quality was such a surprise. It was so much lighter in hand than I though and it had much more premium feeling to it. I thought it cant feel more premium but it does… a lot.
120 is a digital crop and works out at f22! Watch Tony and Chelsea.
I am iPhone 12 pro user right now. I was very excited about new 15 pro series, but this time apple has shown us only development rather than innovation as it was doing before. But I think the camera changes are enough to upgrade to 15 pro max from my current phone. Thanks you for the video, it was extremely useful❤

I'm very similar in regard to the fact I'm very excited to get my Iphone 15 pro Max wich I got in titanium blue from the 12 pro I currently have because I decided to get the pro max to have the bigger and better camera improvements and the many other improvements made to the 15 pro max! Im so excited for it!
The camera „upgrades“ aren’t upgrades at all, I really suggest to watch one of the several critical videos about the 15 pro/max cameras (look for „disappointing & misleading), they will explain in great detail why this is a downgrade - especially when you want to use e.g. the 77mm focal length.

Thank u for taking this important topic and I have a question. After most music venues and festivals stopped allowing people in even with point and shoot looking cameras like Sony rx100 I noticed that everyone at raves has now a Samsung phone because it is the next best option. Myself using iPhone 13 Pro added a Samsung s22 ultra just so I could take it to concerts and take photos with that 10x camera. I did find Samsung ultra photo quality overall better than my iPhone 13 Pro. But I had to carry two phones to every event. And as you hit the nail on the head, the 10x lens on Samsung is f4.9. Which means if I want to freeze a guitar player on stage I need at least 1/125 shutter speed or better so you are immediately in iso 3200 territory on such a tiny sensor. The photo degradation even if shooting raw and using topaz is too much. So I got really excited when I saw the 120mm f2.8 on the new iPhone. Can this new iPhone replace both my 13 pro and Samsung s22 ultra? How sharp is that 120mm f2.8 lens wide open? What is the sensor size difference between Samsung tele camera and this 120mm
iPhone camera? F2.8 would allow me to keep the iso down somewhat in a typical concert scenario. I wish it was longer than 120mm but I don’t know if they could have kept

Isn't it so that on the Pro Max there will be a "quality gap" in the zoom range beween 3x and 4.9x because the picture will be cropped from the main sensor and the resulting picture will be of sub-12mpix resolution? I am leaning towards the Pro Max but I am afraid that this zoom range that is prettry useful on day to day basis may be of inferior quality. I'd love to have 5x zoom but also want to have a good quality 3x.
Yeah there will be a gap between 48mm and 120mm which is pretty big but I personally think 120 will be much more useful than 77mm
do you think the base iphone 15 is good for amateur filmmaking? This is assuming im using an Nd filter and a 3rd party app to get a log profile

I'm thinking of upgrading my trusty old iPhone 8 Plus... I have previously thought that spending over £500 on a smartphone is crazy (I got my 8 Plus pre-owned), but the iPhone 15 Pro Max seems like a seriously impressive piece of technology across the board, even at over double what I would've been prepared to spend in 2019. Being able to buy it with 3 years interest-free PayPal Credit from my usual tech retailer sweetens the deal somewhat :)
If you consider it’s your main camera, and a damn good one at that in myriad conditions from night-time to overcast, etc. it’s truly not that bad considering the old price of DSLR’s a decade ago.

Portrait mode also works with objects if you click on to focus before taking the picture.

Are you 100% sure you need a gimbal? I honestly don’t use mine all to much. I personally like the DJI OM 6 though

It has some nice tracking and other features that I think my wife would benefit being solo creator in the kitchen.

If you need a better phone as well I think that’s an easy decision but technically it will probably still be easier to match the Sonys together

Why do content creators on UA-cam now consistently employ the camera angle from the side while the speaker is still facing forward technique? It’s really distracting, and makes the presentation feel gimmicky and less authentic. I understand wanting to look polished and perhaps breaking up the direct eye contact a bit, but there are better methods.

I'm recording the video with two different cameras at once, so when I edit the video I can switch between the two different angles. We teach all about this in our 14 day filmmaker program by the way!
