Im currently using 120hz mode. It has not broken my quest 2 yet. And this is of course before the update you are talking about in this vid... p.s. the hz setting does not force your quest 2 to run 120fps, it just ups the limet, so no it won't slow anything down and you won't lose image quality.
Yeah i mentioned that near the end and John Carmack confirmed too. Dunno why TR are trying to scare people.

Exactly. All the native apps/games I’ve seen so far that support 120hz have a toggle in the settings menu.
I've been using 120hz since the day it was available, never had _any_ issues. For the titles that support it, it's a much smoother and less headache inducing experience than 90hz. The impact on battery life is also negliable, and if you get a battery strap it really doesn't matter at all. Don't see why you _wouldn't_ want this... feels more like people are worried about nothing.
Does make a good headline, probably nothing to worry about though. Can't really see Facebook (sorry Meta) wanting any more bad press after the recent price update and the backlash they are going to get when everyone realises the Quest pro isn't really targeted at the current userbase.
@@shuflie Plus my understanding is that 120hz will be a default with the option to not use it. So maybe a non-issue?
Hey i was wondering. If you could make a tutorial. of how to fix casting problem cause when i try casting it just gives an error!
Not had any problem with 120hz, but I do use lower graphics settings. I prefer smooth to detailed, but would obviously like both.
i do not need 120htz, i do put the headset to 90 each time though and i always up the res of the screens...zero issues
How do you stop the update before you've even initialised the device. First thing is does is update your device, how to stop this ??

Didn't they just recommend apps to use the 120Hz mode by default in case they were playing 60 fps video or something?
I think it comes down to the length of time you play it --- with extended playtime due to added batteries I can see where the problem may occur
Yeah I can see a few hours being fine. A problem may come if my quest for example runs slightly hotter - maybe the fan isn't 100% or some other 'invisible' fault that is no longer invisible when playing at 120hz
I've had 120hz on as an option since it's been out definitely won't break anything Hz are determined by the dev of the game or if you know how to tweak your Hz / other tweaks via Side quest or the other programs/apps. My battery doesn't go down much faster than when I had it on 90hz but I mostly have my Q2 plugged in via link cable.
I have only tried the 120hz for a little while and the amount of games that supported it didn't really make the overheating issues seem worth it.
As Cim said above there's not many reports from people that already have it permanently on. I meant to put this in the script but forgot 😂

Really, there are only handful of games that even support 120hz mode. I had it on ever since it was out and never really played any games on 120hz mode other than for testing it out.
Yeah I found it weird that such a well known site would say the scary bit without the good bit

this update broke my controllers still cant fix
I am on my LITTERAL 10TH QUEST 2 OVER A PERIOD OF 60~ DAYS.
My quest doesn’t work now yes it’s a pretty shitty update
Yeah since I did the update that I was forced to do, A week later download ancient dungeons and boom… it keeps crashing.. can’t even get into my Home Screen.
I thought this was a legit worry.. why are you grasping straws to make this point? Having the update force 120hz as you’ve eluded it seems, is; wait for it… A Good Thing!
The battery concern is negligible the battery never lasted anyways, the slowing down is not a concern… and please don’t turn the update off.. having the 120hz feature turned on is a good thing.

Lol theres more issues than that update, there has been at least 3-4 updates since that one and some aren't even showing any patches notes for, I'm getting updates showing and then disappearing without me starting the updates, then by magic reappearing, most unstable oculus has ever been.

This seems a non issue.
It does not force 120 Hz onto every game, if a game dev thinks their game is capable of 120 Hz they can enable it. Game devs can choose between 60,72,90, and 120 Hz. Please do research before making a video with a claim and title this serious as for the people that are not as tech literate will believe you since you have not taken this video down even with the comments correcting you I have reported it for misinformation.

Sounds like a little planned obsolescence to me...took one right out of apples playbook
No, apple would actually neuter your device by limiting its performance by down clocking, increasing charging time by making the device not able to fast charge, excluding the device from future updates, etc.
This update however improves it.. so no, there’s no planned obsolescence here. lol the quest 2 was sold and is still being sold soo cheap vs its worser competitors and instead of praising them for including us in their R&D, you chose to call foul and accuse them of practising planned obsolescence.. hahahahahahac
