Living in Montreal for many years (my husband grew up there) it was so amazing to see familiar sights! You're going through all of my old stomping grounds!
A lot of the cheese in Quebec are not pasteurized, so they taste much better.
The place where he picked his croissant is Atwater Market. The cheese store in that market in one of the best in Quebec.

That was a super crazy storm! My dad had 9 trees come down at his cottage, taking out the kitchen and porch and tearing a hole in the bathroom ceiling. Not to mention he got hit by one and he's still recovering, almost took him out. Glad you were ok in your truck! That pasta looked delicious.
Mav, Cacio e pepe is by far one of my favorite dishes. In Tuscany its prepared with a pasta type called “pici” pronounced like pee-chee
Also cacio e pepe is similarly pronounced like “cah-chio… eh … pehpeh”
Would definitely recommend a remake at some point with the pici pasta (pretty easy to make homemade as well!). Great episode and glad you survived the storm
He's not lying about the cheese, a Large wheel of parmigiano reggiano could easily go for 1 to 2 thousand dollars. Fine Cheese these days is on par with expensive AAA beef at a price per kg ratio
And please, Mav ie the Wagyu, do not spend for Parm Reg to make a meal like that if you won't share it many others. (And yes rabid fans, I know he did finally share Wagyu.)

@@leavingtogetthemilkbrb5772 for the Italians it is a precious treasure and its protected to a certain region in Italy called Parma,the minimum maturation for this cheese is at least 12 months aging, most of the parmesan wheels on the market are aged between 24 to 36 months some can even be aged to around a 100 months, which increases the price even more so its not just ur average cheese,also a parmesan wheel is 72-85 pounds heavy and it can cost anywhere from 1500 to 4000 $ depending on the age.

This is hilarious, i live in Quebec City, never would have expected him to come here and camp in a once in a decade storm lol, not exactly the warm welcoming mav was expecting I guess.
Glad you survived the tornado. Like one of my top 10 fears/phobias. I've learned to either be eating or full when watching your videos. My meal of choice was Mac n cheese shells w the "real cheese sauce packet" and medium salsa, chunky, mixed in. Once you have your Mac n Cheese with salsa, you won't want it any other way. I love the new truck setup, that is so clever having a place for your feet, and the take on living out of the camper bed while also making great food is genius. I am a foodie and cook myself, so that is why I got so drawn in to your videos. Also the camera work and time it must take to get those walking and establishing shots, very much appreciate the effort. However, in this video I wanted to specifically let you know that you have amazing legs. I was going to compliment you on your legs this video, then you said you were self conscious about them so I knew I REALLY had to let you know that your legs are wonderful and a joy to see.

I am so impressed with your culinary bravado 😂 Oh yes, storms in Quebec can be ferocious, especially in the mountains like in the Laurentide area, thousands of lakes and mountains so the thunder echo so loud, it is scary.

I had my first dish of pasta in a cheese wheel in Los Angeles a couple of months ago at a restaurant called Forma! It was in a Parmigiana Reggiano cheese wheel. It was delicious!

over the last few years, caccio a peppe has become my signature dish, never made it in a cheese wheel though. I'm impressed. Butter is unnecessary IMO. Pasta water is more then enough but to each its own right :D

I would have just bought a few of the cut ones of the cheese and sliced them and covered my pasta bowl with all the slices heated it a little to melt them together so they adhere to the bowl then add the hot pasta. Just my idea because wheels of cheese are ridiculously expensive and hard to find. I may try it this week.
Check your refrigerator vent to see if it's blocked or if the seal is possibly damaged. That can cause freezing throught the unit. Alos humid are and opening and closing alot freezes contents as well. Safe Travels Mav!

I completely agree with the cheese wheel. I found a restaurant in Fort Lauderdale that served the dish, tried it and had to have one. The family bought a 45lb wheel from Cicely for my Birthday 🥳 We've enjoyed many meals with it for over a year 🤓😋🤤 I'd love to upload a photo of our serving a meal in the wheel, but I don't see that you offer the opportunity 😏
