When your kids grow up and still wanna hang out with their parents…it speaks volumes. Jet I’m about the same age as your dad and just recently found your channel. Your dad has so inspired me to cook.
Your dad is a COMPLETE icon for me. Brought Chinese cooking techniqes and flavours in the realm of Canadian fine dining. My meal at his restaurant, Susur, about 20 years ago, remains one of the best meals of my life. His ease and charm is still so much fun to watch - thanks for sharing!
Same. I ate there about 20 years ago and I still think of that meal sometimes. It cost more than I could comfortably afford at the time, but I was celebrating a milestone, and the memories alone are worth it.
My dad put cut hotdogs into instant ramen ramen when i was a kid and i still look back at it like it was a 5 star meal haha. Nothing beats dads cooking, not matter what it is
Lol I used to make sliced hotdogs in Ramen for my little bro and I growing up as a kid. My pops was never in the picture and little bros dad died when we were really young. Now as an adult I really wish that I had a dad like this in my life! Never take your loved ones for granted people!!
Your dad has such a great personality, it's really cool to get to see a different side of him with these videos. He was obviously always so focused and serious on Iron Chef. He's a cool guy! His food always looks amazing.
Oh wow, the Iron Chef just taught me a new way to prepare both a Cornish hen & hash style potatoes. The method was actually simple - technique is key. Observing him in a more relaxed environment is really cool. Watching him on TV, quite some time back, it was a bit tricky trying to keep up with the different skills used. Thanks for sharing. 💖💖
you can complain about deboning the bird, but the sauce wasnt even that bad. Hell, you dont even need a whole bird for this, can prob do the same thing with separate breast and thigh meat portions
I absolutely love how your dad says stir stir stir, mix mix mix, etc. Idk why, it just feels so calming and methodical…also max Dad style instructions 😂
You are so blessed to still have your dad cooking for you. My dad passed away and I miss my dad cooking his favorite dishes like the Indonesian Squid for me.
There's just so much finesse, fluidity and efficiency in his cooking, magnified heavily when it's a dish like this which he's cooked thousands of times for you. Just a pleasure to watch.
Thank you once more for sharing this…u are so lucky to have a dad that not only knows how to cook, loves to cook especially for his family. The love is absolutely present with every step.
I still watch old videos of your dad to this day. I love this man so much, he's a true treasure in all of our lives. You are very blessed to have him as your father. ❤😊
Honestly, watching your dad in the OG iron chef. He was my fav, and i was always excited when people picked him. I have learned so much from him it's crazy. I like think i have seen most all of the og iron chef. It's cool to see him just enjoying life.
My 3 sons all cook in their own resolves. My oldest is a culinary chef, my youngest just loves the hands that feed him. My baby at 16, just wants to beat me. I use no recipes. I cook with love. My sons love my cooking. My baby gets this, knows this and cooks from this. Food is so central in our family. This video just reminded me of this. ❤
I did not regret watching this video at all. The camera work was great. I’ve never seen such a detailed and intricate example. He adds extra information about the history of things too which is brilliant.
Wow! I can't believe that when I was younger I actually used to do this . Im kinda proud of myself now. I did everything your dad did except that sauce, i love gravy so I used to make gravy with mine. I actually have not done this in years. I think that i may actually do this on Monday when my boy's are off, yes I am. Thank you for reminding me of something that I have not cooked in quite awhile.
You know my dad passed away when I was four and when I started watching your videos, I really just get this awesome vibe from channel. I think it’s great your friends with your dad. Good for you guys.
not sure why this popped up into my feed, but for sure I wish I had a dad like that, he's a real cool dude, talented, articulate, just seems like he'd be a great friend as well, thanks for sharing!
I love watching your father cook. I grew up in a Southern kitchen, raised by my grandparents who were children of the depression, what I learned in the kitchen and outside on the grill transcends time.... be very fortunate that you have this amazing man as your father, learn what you can. Would love to see you in the kitchen helping and making these dishes yourself, never stop learning, especially when you have such a great teacher.....
I learned deboning from illustrations in a cookbook about classic french cuisine. One of my "proud" skills. This Cornish hen recipe looks fantastic! Of course!🎉
Your Dad is adorable - warms my heart to see a little bit of your relationship with your Dad. :) The meal looks great. I must try it. Im sure it wont come out exactly like that but I learned alot in this short video. Thank you for sharing. :)
No wonder the son is a foot taller than his old man. All that love and joy, serving such beautiful food. Son is richer, stronger, but also grateful, which is another cool thing he learnt fro his dad. Love the recipe.
As a young adult in my 20's and 30's, my father used to lure me over to his house with rosti, only we called them homemade hash browns. Dads were always better than mine because he used a hot pan to start and liver heat while browning them. I was always in a hurry. Also occasionally stoned, lol. Officially my dad was a painting contractor, but he was a chef at heart.
you have an amazing father. i wish my father or even my grandfather cared 1/10 as much as your da d. does.... you a great respectful young man and other young men could learn a thing or two from you both. God bless keep up the awesome content.
Love how he says “humble children’s meal.” He is a modest man. That plate is a beautiful Michelin star meal with the love of a proud father. I’d love to have separate vids of all your dad’s derailed off topic Asian dad talks as a whole ‘nuther segment!!
This is wonderful and so caring as many chefs might feel too tired from work to also cook at home. My mum would make some kind of dish from scratch nearly every day when I was growing up with like soup and rice and chicken or fish…. And she is no chef and didn’t even learn to cook until she was married even though she’s Asian. She was also a nurse so it wasn’t like she was at home all day long. It was just about believing that fresh cooked meals are the best and healthiest for her family and wanting to do that for us. We never had takeaway. We ate out maybe once a year at the most special occasions and only occasionally had something like oven fish and chips or oven pizza and even then my mum would make veggies or salad to go with it. I hope to do as much for my kids one day. Mum’s (or Dad’s)cooking is always the best even if you don’t have an Iron chef Dad. ❤
You better enjoy your time with him and esteem him a lot. You will miss him loads. This is coming from someone whose Mom and Dad died when I was young. Make a lot of memories while you can. It looks like you two do! I enjoy your videos.
Iron chef is a living legend, each dish he cooks make look easy (but it's not) , millimetric knife precision, outstanding combination of flavors (fusion of Asian with European , such a phenomenal chef.

He cooks better then my dad my dad used to burn my fish which made me angry

Lol tell me you have lots of spare time without saying I have lots of spare time
that's the beauty of working food service, fancy food is a lot cheaper when you buy it in bulk.
Anyone can do that, its not that hard when you try it and practice.
When you enjoy doing something, you never go halfway on it. This man loves cooking, he's not gonna throw some shit in the microwave and call it a day.
