Curious - after that usability testing, was there any discussion about perhaps fixing the usability issues to make the app more intuitive instead of working on providing more in app training?
Great question! Yes, we actually did, but because of time constraints and product requirements, we had to ship out something quick. During the same time, we were working on our north star to fix this problem as a whole.
@@LindaAhn you should make a video about that! I would love to hear about the process for fixing the systemic issues that led to some of those user comments from usability testing! That kind of design usually calls for more holistic thinking-which is rare in product design companies that are engineering led an entrenched in agile-ish feature by feature releases.
@@SophiaVUX although I’d love to, my internship ended right after I finished this project so I wasn’t apart of anything after that. I did stay in contact with the other designer there to hear about the progress but I don’t think it went really far 😕
Great video-- curious though, I am not understanding why you mentioned NOT to present your case study via your portfolio. I don't quite understand how it's unprofessional? Genuinely curious, thanks!
Hi Athena, rather than unprofessional I would say it's not ideal - especially if your portfolio is a website. There tends to be a lot of scrolling and sometimes you might have little interactions or animations that can be distracting overall. Another thing to add is that your website will need wifi and sometimes you might run into technical issues which can be very annoying as well. To avoid those problems putting your case study in a slide deck will make your life a lot easier. Hope this helps!
Just to make sure I heard your right, don't present our project off of our website? Toward the end you said you plopped it on slide deck lol but you weren't too satisfied. What would be your preferred method?
Yeah sorry, let me clarify what I meant. Ideally, it's more natural to walk through each case study slide by slide, instead of scrolling through your portfolio website. This is because you have more control over how you present the information. Usually, Keynote is great for this because you can add in transitions so you're not presenting all the info at once. In terms of my case study, it wasn't a smooth slide deck and that's because I literally just took the layout of my case study that's on my website and put it into a PDF. This is why some of the "slides" have a lot more information than others. Hope this helps!
Hey Linda, I'm a marketing graduate (over 3 years back now) but had to work outside my field and want to get into UX design now. Would you suggest learning on my own or eventually taking a course? I know you mentioned Canada before and I'm from Toronto so I was looking at Brainstation ($$) or UofT/George Brown. Thanks for your videos, they're super helpful.
Hi Austin! I would say it really depends on you and your situation. In short I would say if you are self-disciplined and fast learner, self taught can work but might take a bit longer. But if you need the guidance and structure than school might be better. If you want further help you can book a time with me on superpeer and I can help you out there! www.superpeer.com/lindaahn
Thank you so much for this video and great job on the case study!
