Yours truly,
Mizko
Thank you. You are amazing.
@@mirka488 I'm happy that you found it valuable!
@@Mizko Your content is always a synonym to valuable. :)
Mizko, Superb content. One more thing is curious which font you use for the disclaimer.
I used your UX Case Study to create my own, and it was super helpful! But during interviews I noticed interviewers get confused between the "we" (what the product team did) and "I" (what you did). So I decided to use just "I" everywhere, to avoid possible weird bias they might have.
It's important in interviews to frame statements as "I" instead of "we" as much as possible. This helps to clarify specifically what your impact was.
They are considering hiring you, after all, not the entire team you worked with.
@@ShaunTungsethshould I make this change for my portfolio too?
@@unplugged301 Yes. Anywhere that you are describing the impact that you had.
If it was something you did, take credit for it by saying "I".
If you did something with someone else, give the proper credit by being more specific, like "The product manager and I..."
Just saying "we" is ambiguous and doesn't say how many people were involved. So it doesn't tell what level of impact you actually had.
I have to thank you a lot, I used this as a base for a design task and I got the job, I'm starting next Monday! I really appreciate you sharing this with all of us
Hi, Mizko! This is Eva Yu, from your very own Designership program. I just wanted to thank you for the designership program and all the fantastic videos you created on UA-cam. I have put your teaching many, many times into my own design process. They are down to earth and could be implemented right away.
After taking your Designership program, I created a design system for the start-up I worked for. I'm again learning from you to present a Case Study in my interviews. They all worked like magic. Thank you, I regard you as my mentor and look forward to your product design course. 😉
Fantastic. This is by far the simplest and best version of explaining a case study. I’ve subscribed to learn more :)
Love the simplicity, clarity, and execution of the presentation! 😉 Thanks for this gem!
So good to see you around. Hope you're well man, should catch up soon with the others and thank you!
Beautiful video. Would love to hear more about the 3 act structure though. To me that seemed like a technique towards effective storytelling which I believe is what a case study is all about. I would love to hear more about how this can be used in case study design, presentation design, etc. Would also love to understand how the 3 act structure is used in this presentation
Pffff! I'm taking right now interviews, and when I have this call about showing my portfolio I really feel that I didn't have enough time to explain... and this video it's perfect Mizko, thank you so much, I identified some corrections that I need to realize! You rock! 💥
Haha thank you Tania! I am really happy to hear :)
My case study presentation for bootcamp is coming up very soon and this was a GEM of a find! Thank you!
Glad it worked out Amanda! Hopefully you wowed the bootcamp!
Amazing ! Thanks Mizko, love the effort you put into these.
Using this for my interview/presentation today!! Thank you so much. I've been watching your videos for over a year now and they're always so helpful.
Woo! Thank you for sharing Sophia :) Means a lot to me.
This was incredibly informative and insightful! Thank you!
You're such a blessing, Mizko! Thank you🥺🥰
This was super clear Michael, thanks a lot for this!
your videos are amazing, super helpful! thank you!
This was insightful.
Thank you for this
This is powerful knowledge, and very well presented by you. Great work.
Just discovered this channel and it's extremely valuable. Thank you so much!
Thanks Jasper! I'm glad you're enjoying it :)
Dude, this is amazing!! 🔥 Thanks for sharing
Every designer needs to learn from you! 🙏🏼
Perfect advice! Amazing! Simple and smart
This is one of the best case study presentation I've seen! I love the 3 act structure and I have applied it in mine. Hope I will bring good news!
This was fantastic!! Will be using this process soon. Thank you again Michael!
Enjoy :)
Super insightful video! Thank you very much!
Subbed for for of such Golden nuggets
This was very informative. Thank you so much for such a video and example as well 🤗
This is great, I think the other thing that employers look for is design ability. At the end of the day it's a huge part. I feel like people are forgetting about design these days, but it's a massive part of our craft.
@@s559tja I didn't say UX doesn't matter... Also, when I'm taking about design I mean good design. Which is hard to find. Not the identical dribbble shots that look the same and lack any brand identity. That's just people copying generic templated designs. I'm taking about original, quality design work and a understanding of design systems, brand etc. We get people all the time in interviews who can't do basic design...
@@dotsona07 Can you elaborate on what you mean by "good design" and "quality design work". Are you referring to interviewees being unable to bang out good UI designs, or are you referring to their ability to solve problems using their designs? What design systems are you looking for them to understand? Thank you if you end up replying.
@@space_acee I am talking about the rules of UI design, not UX. Typography, color, shape, texture, layout etc. Making something that doesn't look like a template. That only comes with years of practice designing user interfaces.
Using this on Monday, ill keep ya updated 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Thank you Mizko! I'm loving The Designership🌸
Woo!
Amazing video once again Michael! I freaking love your new portfolio and I can't wait for your UX course, take care mate!! :)
Thank you Kerim! Appreciate it. I'm truly rested and back in full force. Been working on the UX course full-time for the last week, I'm just as excited as you are about this.
Thank you very much for sharing. I am learn ing to building my portfolio. This video is so helpful!
Thank you! This is really helpful!
Really useful tips I've noticed in this deck, definitely going to implement in my presentations.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear!
Great channel! Well done!!! :)
Thank you so much for this excellent UX case study walk through! Amazing💝💝!
Thank you Juls! Happy to help :)
Love all your work Mizko! With the number of videos you do, products you're shipping, mentoring and everything else, I don't know how you find time to even go to the loo (but I know you also film there too lol).
Great video, I even (almost) overlooked the typo on automobile and Americanised spelling 🙊
Thank you Leng! Haha. Oh I noticed the spelling while I was uploading the video. It was too late then.
@@Mizko Haha all good! Pretty sure 98% of people wouldn't notice. If you ever need someone to spell check something for you, you know where to find me lol
Thank you, Mizko. My heart blesses you deeply.
Thanks!
This was insightful.
Thank you for this.
Thank you 🤙🏼Wow you watched it quick!
Hi Mizko love you Vidoes, you do go up and beyond when you create your content and I love it😍.
Just have a question. I am creating my presentation and I wanted to know if I have to follow the same steps I followed when I created my case study ?
I appreciate your stellar knowledge!
Thank you Kevin!
Sir, just subscribed. Great content!

Awesome, thank you bro!
Thank you for your information!
Thanks oppa! This helped me tons

Thanks man!
Hi Mizko, thank you very much for sharing this video! One question: in the real interview presentation, do you use replacement content as this video or for easier & better explanation, you would use some of the product info?
Was waiting for it
I've got all you covered!
Wow! This is wonderful
This is gold!
LOL Jordan Knight! Love it.
ove your content brother. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video👌
Thanks!
This was great. Thanks!
Question about the choice of making the presentation size 960x540.
What is the reasoning there? I have always tried to find a great size for these things but sometimes struggle. Your reasoning would be nice to hear.
Thanks.
This is so good...thank you
I've got you covered!
Amazing! 10/10
This was super helpful. I did notice 3 was the magic number and it felt right, but I didn't know why. Now I know 😉
Eye of a tiger!
This is so helpful! What changes can I make to this presentation template to make it more suitable for a *UI* case study? I'm more of a UI than UX designer :)
Awesome thanks!
Thanks!
Video is a powerful method of presenting designs and if you build your designs in a smart way in Figma, you can easily transform them to extremely powerful animations on tools like after Effects.
After seeing Mizko's newly redesigned website, I'd been hoping for a video like this. Thank you so much!!
🙏🏼😁 I'm glad you like my new portfolio. I will make a video about that as well too.
@@Mizko I'm eagerly awaiting it! ❤️
Beautiful :)
Nice work man! What would you do differently?
great !
This is what i was really looking for and seriously i was very confused because all the case studies are same and seems bored to clients of employer now i get it what acctully i have to represent and how to represent ...
Very informative
I highly recommend everyone to watch it.
Awesome!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Hello Mizko,
It is a great lesson!
Could you help me with one question?
How do you define if you are gonna IDEATE BY YOURSELF or if you are gonna FACILITATE A WORKSHOP?
I am new to UX UI and I didn't find this information on the sources I have...
Thanks in advance!
Much needed thanks
Happy designing and landing jobs :)
@@Mizko thanks dude keep the good work
Thank you
thanks for taking me thru the ux process and not focusing on the case study trends, formats, and design thereof, because googles school does a powerpoint case study and i think thats like taking a date to mcdonalds "cafe". Austrailia might not have the luxuries such as mc cafe concept stores. its where i take all my dates
this video is an asset!
Hello Mizko
Thank you very much for your inspiring and motivating videos that help me improve in my job every day!
I see a lot of job ads looking for UI/UX designers. Could you explain to me why the UI appears before the UX designer?
Sincerely
It's a UX/UI Designer, not a UI/UX Designer 😊
Amazing content. Your audio quality would be amazing too with a use of pop filter.
I only just learnt about my ps popping in the audio! Thanks for pointing it out :) I now push my mic further away and I think it’s better
Hello Michael, may I know what is the difference between a presentation shown as per the video and the case studies shown on a website? Does one need to have both?
All the ads are related 😂vim pop corn poped
Hi! Super helpful video. I would like to know where did you study Product Design? Thanksss
Self taught 🤙 and used the knowledge to build a few businesses so I know it works
Interesting suggestions, thank you!
A riff on one of the final points…being unable to share the details of that case study here because they're "quite confidential", how (or are you even) able to share those details in a presentation with another company where I'm assuming there's no contract signed beforehand securing confidentiality amongst all participants? I often worry about someone taking screenshots or otherwise capturing some of that confidential data. I find password protecting case studies or portfolio pieces just as ineffective/insecure.
if you present it on your website for example I would ask all parties involved first if they are ok with you portraying their product on your portfolio site
I think this is solid efficient stuff that's important to be implemented throughout each design portfolio. Only thing I disagree is the titles you made for the process. While "Objectives" and "Conceptualize" work well, "Design" is a wrong impression to use for step 3, because all this process falls under Design and the Designer role.
I think I would name it "Implementation" or "Articulation" or "application" or anything suggesting an execution functionality, because it stands for executing all the learning we did prior to that...
As all designers know - "Design is an application of intent..."
Wdyt?
Should I make these kinds of case studies for 4-5 of my projects on my portfolio?
Could you please make a vid about working with atomic design? Thank you!
I have a design system series on my channel ⚡️
OMG. That was me (( I stop the job search right now. I am so to study again
I'm passionate about UX design and public speaking as well.
What do you think is the best career position for me?
Nice video as always mizko, I tried this method in my 3rd stage interview process and it made me advance to the last stage of the interview process which will require me to present my slide deck to the interviewers, my question is how do I present this to them without reading it word for word just the way it is on my presentation slides? and what kind of follow up questions should I prepare for after the presentation? I will be having this interview by Tuesday next week, your response will be so helpful to me 🙏🏻
Ikenna, I am releasing a video tonight for you. I hope you get to see it before your interview.
@@Mizko nice! I am waiting for it mizko and thank you very much. I feel honored!

Thank you for this! Would you ever do an actual UX course? :)
Anytime! I am already working on my end-to-end UX course. It's coming this year 🤙🏼 It's a heavy duty one.
@@Mizko Great! Can't wait! If you ever need someone to test the course ahead of release im down. I'll even pay ahead of time for it :)
Hi Mizko! Thank you (once again) for this extremely helpful template! I have a few questions and was wondering if you could help answer them
1) Is there a difference (in terms of content volume) between what is presented in this presentation deck VS case study on portfolio website?
2) Would it be safe to assume that it is not necessary to present empathy mapping, user persona, HMW statement, sitemap/user flow/task flow, low/mid/hi fidelity wireframes, style tile, UI kit, usability test plan, prototype as they would Overwhelm the reader? Would it depend on who the audience is (e.g. client, recruiter)
3) Given that I am preparing a fictitious case study for my portfolio, what kind of "outcomes" should I include?
Thank you so much!
Hey Sada! Great questions.
1. Yes! People browsing a portfolio online and listening in a presentation have different expectations, attention spans and intents. You need to consider those when crafting the two.
2. It really depends on what was most insightful and actually worth presenting in the case study. Far too many UX designers throw in every artifact into their case studies and making it a 40 minute presentation. It's far too overwhelming. Focus on the juicy insights and you can bundle up everything else into one slide if it's not worth talking about. The employer just needs to know you've done it, but you don't need to dive deep into it.
3. If it's a fictions case study, can't you come up with a fictions outcome? haha. If you want to legitimatise it, focus on something you have control over. Eg. User testing results.
@mizko: what do you mean say "focus on ... and funnel first" What does that term mean?
Oh no. THAT is how i presented twice :( (the earlier examples) Thanks for this video
Haha! We've all been there before. Lesson learnt!
can you upload a video about text animation
Hello I bought the template but I can't seem to download it.
I have a couple questions… does this information still apply for UI design? Or more tailored to UX? Also is this then what gets paired with the portfolio? Does each portfolio piece have its own case study? Or is that also for UI only? Because I’ve been researching UI and theyre saying you have a case study and a portfolio with each frame on from figma or something. I’m a complete newbie so be patient with me pls haha
Next up please share your work space / setup
Considering these days we have to do lots of zoom calls, simultaneously work on big screen, and have a mic & camera setup
Bit diff being UX designer vs UA-cam content creator
I struggle with the fact that I am working on big screen (while on call) and my camera is on the Laptop so people think I am looking away
Sounds like a plan!
You never said how or why you chose the interview group that you chose?
or did I miss that crucial part
Wow, this is really great Mizko, I want to ask is there an opportunity to intern at your company ?
Thank you Adeyera! Sorry, we're currently not taking on any internships, maybe sometime later this year.
@@Mizko oh alright thank you 😊
I'm in a 6 month bootcamp and they stress telling a story in case studies ...I'm on the right track, then! ☺️

Hello! Mizko, thank you so much for explaining how to better present our ux/ui to stakeholders and making it soo clear! i only, wonder, why i can't use the figma template? what i need to do to be able to copy/edit it? thank you
