Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971, originally consisting of Freddie Mercury, (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Queen's initial works were chiefly glam rock, heavy metal and progressive rock orientated ; however, with time, the band has incorporated diverse and innovative styles in their music, exploring the likes of vaudeville, electronic music and funk. The band digressed from using progressive themes in their music in the mid-1970s, with more conventional and radio-friendly works bringing them greater success.
Brian May and Roger Taylor had been playing together in a band named Smile. Freddie Mercury (then known by his birth name of Farrokh, or Freddie, Bulsara) was a fan of Smile, and encouraged them to experiment with more elaborate stage and recording techniques. Mercury himself joined the band shortly thereafter, changed the name of the band to 'Queen' and adopted his familiar stage name. John Deacon was recruited prior to recording their first album. Queen enjoyed success in the UK during the early 1970s, but it was the release of Sheer Heart Attack (1974) and A Night at the Opera (1975) that gained the band international success.The latter featured "Bohemian Rhapsody", which stayed at number one in the UK charts for nine weeks. In 1991 Mercury died of bronchopneumonia, a complication of AIDS, and Deacon retired in 1997.Since then May and Taylor have infrequently performed together, including a collaboration with Paul Rodgers under the name Queen + Paul Rodgers......The band has released a total of 18 number one albums, 18 number one singles and 10 number one DVDs, and have sold over 300 million albums worldwide making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. They have been honoured with seven Ivor Novello awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001

Truly a masterpiece of an album. This song is so powerful and emotional. The fact that Freddie still sung with so much power even when he was dying shows how talented he was
It's so beautiful, but at the same time, it's so, so sad. He was suffering on his death bed when he song this song and sadly didn't get to finish (Brian did the rest). There will never be another Freddie Mercury.

Freddie Mercury was dying and he sings like this.. Vocals cannot go much deeper than this, a dying god singing his last song.. Absolutely beyond this world. Leaves me in awe and makes me cry. And I feel somehow so grateful for listening to this.

Brian may say that Made in heaven is the best queen album, i agree 100x100%. Mother love is for my the best queen song...ever.
If you read into the lyrics, this is a conversation he had with his Common Law Wife Mary Austin. the first verse is about him not wanting anything fancy no tributes nothing "stormy affair" he just wanted his "love of his life" the bridge is about his fame his partying and how he is tired of it all the critics the rumors the smears and that he just wants to spend his last dying days with her for he genuinely loved her and he wanted her to love him again "mama please let me back inside" The second verse is that he felt that he did not want to be a burden to her and that she alone could give him what he most craved. The last verse i think deals with the fact that Mary Austin and Freddie lived together for well over 20 years by this point and that they wanted to settle any burdens between them but in the end as he was dying she was what he wanted sunset always seems to be symbolized by the sun setting and going down. of course this is all imho from research and my own feelings as some one who writes lyrics and tries to put it to music.

Nope, Brian May recorded the last verse of this song a couple of years later, after Freddies death. So actually, he did record it because he was no longer alive; Freddie said he would return to finish the last verse of the song when he felt better, but then he died, leaving them with the only option for Brian to sing it.

Freddie Mercury died in 1991, 22 years ago today. It was so painful to hear the news about his death. Unbelievable almost, for how could someone so full of life and energy; of joie de vivre be dead? He is irreplaceable and his beautiful voice was totally unique. I will always miss him. But his music lives on in all the recordings, which makes him, in a way, immortal. This was the last song he ever recorded. He was very near to death. He was so weak that Brian May had to sing the last few words. I always remember him, on his birthday and on the day he died.and I light a candle for this bright flame.

The last song he ever recorded and he never finished it. Brian did and he did a great job and a tribute to Freddie. I saw Queen perform in Quebec in the 70's and his voice truly did not change in all those years. He was such an amazing talent and the live performance was breathtaking and electric.

Brian May even says so in the "Days of Our Lives" documentary. Freddie recorded this, could not finish it, and said he would finish it when he felt better. Unfortunately, he never came back. But he still hits all of his notes. A man so brave...we love you Freddie!

The noise is meant to represent the life of Freddie and perhaps Queen as a band up to that point in the 90's, starting with Freddie's death, going backwards through time. We hear a montage of many sounds from Queen's vast song catalogue and some of their biggest live moments, possibly from Rock in Rio and/or Live Aid at Wembley in 1985. Finally we hear Freddie singing an early Smile song called Going Back and it finishes by regressing back to the stage of a baby (which ties in with Mother Love).

Not only that, but the fact that he was so dedicated, even right up until death is such an inspiration.

This particular piece still haunts me for I have this urge to pay respect for him by interprete some of his works in my own way but I fail over and over again... Freddy was one and only. N o one can really match his vocal abillities, he was or actually still is A KING. I was both happy and crying at the same time for I was a witness to something special but also a witness to a disturbing news of him being deceased.

Brian said that when they were recording this particular song Freddie got tired and that he needed to take a rest before he could finish the vocals for this song. Freddie never came back to the studio. @ 2:55 you can hear his last words "mother love" and @ 3:40 Brian takes over the vocal parts. So sad, IMO he was the greatest singer, entertainer and composer ever. Rest in peace Freddie.

Last song recorded by Freddie. Couldn't finish as his illness took his strength. He was working with Brian, and told Brian that he would be back after a few days of rest. He never gained his strength back and never returned to the studio. Brian sang the last verse later to finish. I cherish this song.

Yes, the entire Made in Heaven album wasn't touched for a few years. Freddie always laid his vocals last. Made in Heaven was done in reverse. Amazing voice for man with a very short time left.
