I always had known the short version of the video and didn't pay much attention to the lyrics for many years. Last week I read the lyrics on Spotify while it played on shuffle and I was today years old when I truly appreciated this masterpiece.
I played the heck outta the mmlp cd back in high school yet never realized how much of a masterpiece this was. I listen to this now is such appreciation of the way he delivers the story. The way Stan’s emotion changes and climaxes from beg to end. How Em effortlessly alters his voice/tone when getting into character. And just how poetic the entire song is.
*@nvrmndryo* and *@ramgadevadoo1780* I saw both your comments next to each other, and I started scratching my head because my own memory was hearing Stan for the first time in 1999. When I looked it up, it turns out I was wrong and it was released in 2000. Do the two of you live in places where it wasn't released until 2004/2005? Here is how I saw your comments in the comment section: *@nvrmndryo* 8 days ago I was 17 years old when I listened the song first time(around 2004-5). That day and today, I still get the goosebumps and I time travel to ‘04! *@ramgadevadoo1780* 1 day ago Literally mad that its already been 18 years since we were listening to this in 2005. I remember coming home from school and going straight to my room and listening to this song. Time flies man.
I was too young when this song came out. This is the only song I can't memorize the lyrics because it is very long and made no sense to me as the time. Listening to it now on spotify while on my earphones I was so amazed on how great the story is made and on how tragic it can be. Very lyrical and up beat!
I was 8 when I watched it without the stupid censors. I understand why people may feel upset about the song but it is meant to be like that so people would realise how bad fan-obsession really is.
Send this to Dream Stans, let them know THIS is what Stan truly means, its not another way of being called a fan. Because this beautiful song illustrates it perfectly.
@fuck censorship 2 kpoop stans are another level. They really think that the other fans and their idols will like them for being immature snowflakes. The whole kpop fandom hates them for this. Especially since they harming the idols and the whole fandom by doing so. We can't even mention that we like kpop anymore without being harassed or degraded thanks to these stupid people.
@@ymj4256 The reason why kpop fans did this is because there is already another word that is used to describe obsessive stalkers. They kept that word, and gave stan a new meaning. I don't agree with this, but it honestly seems too late to fix that mistake.
I’ve always wondered whether she is wondering why her tea has gone cold, or why she got out of bed, at all. She should have explained herself better, because there’s no way to know what she’s wondering about, and that ruins the whole song. It’s hard to make any sense out of it, either way, because, first off, it should be obvious why her tea has gone cold. If it’s iced tea, then the frozen cubes of water would certainly be a contributing factor, along with the fact that it was likely refrigerated. If, however, she drinks hot tea, like a crazy person, then the temperature of the tea would’ve decreased, clearly, due to the cooler temperature of the air in the room. If she didn’t drink her hot tea quickly enough, then that would be the one, and the only, logical explanation for why it’s gone cold. If, on the other hand, she’s wondering why she got out of bed, at all, then that makes even less sense, unfortunately. She evidently made the decision to get out of bed, all on her own, so she should know why she did it. Maybe, she needed to take a leak, and she didn’t want to pee in her bed. Maybe, it could’ve been that she needed to take a dump. I have no idea why she did it, but she should know why, because she is the one who made the decision. It’s possible that she has amnesia, I guess. That would explain why she’s wondering about something that she shouldn’t need to wonder about, but, if that were the case, then it’s strange to think that her tea going cold would be such a major concern to her. It seems like having cold tea would be the least of her problems, if she had amnesia, and I doubt that it would be so important to her, that she’d want to make a song about it. Regardless of what it is that she’s wondering about, it doesn’t make any sense, at all, because there’s no reason to wonder about either of those things. As dumb as it is, though, either way, she should’ve specified which dumb thing it is that she’s wondering about, still, at the very least, but, of course, she doesn’t even do that, and that just makes it even worse. If you’re wondering why the song is so bad, and no one likes it, that’s one of the main reasons, probably.
I love how this song exists and there are still stans in the world that think being a Stan makes them quirky and unique even if the song is supposed to be about why you SHOULDN’T be a Stan.
The word “Stan” originated from this song, so no, the song was not about why you shouldn’t be a Stan. It describes a person named Stan being obsessed with Eminem
Panda_doodle_art Nah it was about why you shouldn’t be a stan in one of ems interviews he talked about that song was a message to his fans and not to act like that so technically it was why you shouldn’t be a stan
The censorship with Vevo makes no sense at all. Sometimes they leave EVERYTHING on the song and sometimes they pull every little thing out, "Stan" by Eminem is a prime example. EDIT: I just realized, this isn't Vevo, is it?
Dude he is like 6-7 years old... as much as him he’s a kid he’s likes what ‘stan’ has showed him of Eminem and he’s grown to love it too but no not as much. He might like him as a ‘biggest fan’ but that’s as a kid. Stan is his real biggest fan like he says... hit me back your biggest fan this is Stan.
"See Slim... sh... Imma tryna talk" "Hey Slim that's my Girlfriend..." "But I didn't, er throw, I just, see I ain't like you" "Cos if she... suffer more, then she'll... too" "Well gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now, oh... I forgot Isumashtahithow" Screaming Censoring those words made me look them up more because I had no idea what the hell he was saying when I was 11. Thanks Tipper Gore.
“before you hurt yourself, I think that you’ll be doing just fine if you just relax a little. I’m glad I inspire you but Stan why are you so mad, try to understand that I do want you as a fan. I just don’t want you to do some crazy shit. I’ve seen this one shit on the news a couple weeks ago that made me sick.”
O cara teve uma infância difícil, rejeitado pela mãe mais ao longo do tempo seus sentimentos se compôs em canções que faz a pessoa parar e refletir..... Diria que o Eminem venceu na vida...
@Laeel Odinson lmao then just call yourself a fan rather than associating yourself with this. They literally mean the same thing except one has "stalker" added to it.
@Laeel Odinson the word Stan originated from this song coz the stalker guy in its name is Stanley (Stan for short). So if u call yourself a stan, that means you would basically do what he did
@@nesotheshitposter1475 the word actually came from the conjunction of "stalker" and "fan", or "stan", and they gave that name to the character. So when you call yourself a stan, you're calling yourself a stalker fan, and it's sad that a lot of people don't realize that, or do and consider it something to be proud of
@@metamon2704 you obviously didn’t read what I said. Like what Diego said, stan is a conjunction of “stalker” and “fan.” And if you’re stalking, you’re probably obsessed, your comment was pointless.
It’s funny how Eminem imagined Stan as someone with an unhealthy, near-psychotic obsession with their idol and nowadays, people seem to wear and speak that name with pride.
This is such a real song & they censor so much of it, people listening for the first time probably get lost. That's a shame, man.

Send this to Dream Stans, let them know THIS is what Stan truly means, its not another way of being called a fan. Because this beautiful song illustrates it perfectly.
The fact that even dream's family was affected by this people it's just insane, they're not fans, fans respect who they admire.
its not beautiful... its kinda fucked up
@fuck censorship 2 kpoop stans are another level. They really think that the other fans and their idols will like them for being immature snowflakes. The whole kpop fandom hates them for this. Especially since they harming the idols and the whole fandom by doing so. We can't even mention that we like kpop anymore without being harassed or degraded thanks to these stupid people.
People who first used Stan unironically are kpop fans.
That's Twitter culture for you.
@@ymj4256 The reason why kpop fans did this is because there is already another word that is used to describe obsessive stalkers. They kept that word, and gave stan a new meaning. I don't agree with this, but it honestly seems too late to fix that mistake.
Yeah
omg, gomunkul himself commented instead of sending bots to do so
I’ve always wondered whether she is wondering why her tea has gone cold, or why she got out of bed, at all.

Why did they censor the line where eminem mentions that Stan wants them to "be together" but when Stan said it they left it in?

@Laeel Odinson lmao then just call yourself a fan rather than associating yourself with this. They literally mean the same thing except one has "stalker" added to it.
@Laeel Odinson the word Stan originated from this song coz the stalker guy in its name is Stanley (Stan for short). So if u call yourself a stan, that means you would basically do what he did
@@LaserCoreX Stan means obsessed fan.
