Thank you for sharing the actual vintage quilt on which you based your new pattern. I did notice a pattern of the placement of the spools on the vintage quilt and do not think they were haphazardly placed. The quilter very thoughtfully turned every other row in the same direction. Anyway, thanks again. The Classic and Vintage tutorials are my very favorite.
I like both versions and wouldn't mind trying to re-create it the way it was originally done but in the larger block size and do the new version as well.
I think it is very cute plus I have 3 containers of blues. Now just need a yard of mustard color. Thank you again for sharing the free patterns and making the quilt look doable. Have a great day Fat Quarter!

What a fantastic find that antique quilt is!! Love this pattern and thank goodness for half square triangle paper! The layout of the antique quilt is great, but I like the changes in the new pattern - thinner borders, sizing of the blocks, etc. I love spools, so the Spool Cabinet Quilt is a given for my "to do" list...thank you FQS for the remake.
