Your Classic and Vintage series is my favorite! I also welcome the challenge of the more difficult blocks. Your directions are so well done, I know I will succeed!
Yes please do add more aspirational blocks/patterns to your tutorials from time to time. A stretch out of my comfort zone is less intimidating if I can watch you do it….and oh so rewarding to do🎉
New block to me! Love the bright colors & how well your blouse color look with your consistently excellent tutorial !! Personally I enjoy the challenges of more "difficult" patterns. Always great to see them in other basic colors!
The block is awesome!! Particularly in the multi colored quilt. This is my favorite series and I like being challenged with more difficult blocks!! I am definitely going to make this!!!! It would be great in the 1930’s Bella solids too! ❤❤❤
Love this series! The Gretchen block looks more difficult than it actually is (love when that happens😃) Thank you for sharing - I’d like more blocks that are intermediate to difficult to challenge my skills.
I have fallen in love with this block!! Thank you Kimberly for keeping me inspired even though my “want to do list” is growing longer and my $$resources smaller!! Oh to be able to sew fast like you!!
This is fantastic! These HSTs have been something I struggled with but this method looks like something I can do! Thank you for the easy to follow demonstration.
This looked so difficult, at first. I just couldn't wrap my head around this block until you went through the steps. Now I'm trying to decide which of my fabrics to use!
Love vintage and classic blocks! You always demonstrate the construction so well that it looks easy and I can stretch my skills! Would love it if you gave a little history on the vintage block too, if you know it :)
I love the classic and vintage blocks!!! Yes please more complicated blocks!! They look complicated but the way you break them down into steps they all of a sudden don’t seem very complicated 🙌🏻💝
I love this idea. I just received an order from your shop of fat quarters that will work well with this block. How timely! Thank you. Please keep challenging us.
I do like having more challenging blocks to do. This block (Gretchen) looks more difficult, but with your instructions, it is very doable. Mixing it up with simpler and challenging gives everyone the chance to select what they want to do. It also will help people grow.
Hi Kimberly. I love the Classic & Vintage series. Would you consider doing a tradition house/schoolhouse block - the one with just 2 colour ways. Many thanks
I love this block!!! Maybe because it’s my name 😂😂😂 I will DEFINITELY have to make a Gretchen block quilt. Thank you for making more challenging vintage blocks easier to make. This series is fabulous!
I love this block, HSTs are my favorite design element in a quilt block!! Making harder blocks with your excellent directions always make me feel more confident, please keep doing them!!
Such a pretty block, Kimberly. You make it look so easy, but I KNOW better! Maybe this is a one definitely for triangle paper! Thanks for sharing this one!
That block is so pretty and shown in the quilt, it looks phenomenal. I just love this series so much. Since I am now in the Lori Holt fat quarter club, this would be a great use of one of those months’ quarters. I have one planned using the July, August, and September’s fabrics so this might be Octobers. Thanks so much for doing this series!! I love the white on white fabric used!
I too like the challenge of blocks that are more difficult. It helps me improve my piecing skills. Your tutorials are very helpful and after watching, I feel confident to try more challenging blocks/quilts. THANK you.
Love this! Intermediates are so fun! Challenging my skills and repetition are perfect! Also, it finishes so crisp, looks more difficult than it is! Thanks FQS!
i do not know how i missed the live i was on. i always watch i am just quite lol. i come from a long line of quilters but i didnt get to learn from the last generation because i was working so i been trying to teach myself basics. I like watching you because you are so precious. i love the classic and vintage series. there is an old block my grandma made called grandmas engagement ring. it is not anything like the wedding ring block maybe you can find the pattern and do that one. i cam not find a pattern for it but maybe it also has another name i dont know and i am not sure exactly how to find old patterns. this block you are doing now is very pretty thank you for showing how to do it with out having to buy papers. most of my quilts have just been scrappy quilts because i am trying to use all the boxes of scraps i got of my moms and grandmas there's no big pieces i am down to 2 large totes. i have done a few Dresden plates lots of 9 patches and what i call a crazy quilt i cute 14 inch squares and reach in a box of pieces to small to cut anything out of as far as i know and just sew them on the squares then sew the squares together and its a top lol. none of my quilts have been perfect but i get better with each one i do. i bought 2 fat quarters to make a quilt for me as a reward when i get rid of all the scraps. Would this quilt look ok out of prints instead of solids? I would like to try it. but my dream quilt is the quilt on my grandmas bed called grandmas engagement ring. that is what i bought those fat quarters for lol
Okay...I just heard her say it is 16 fat quarters for the LAP SIZED QUILT. That is basically (1) FQ per block made. Perfect! This would be really pretty done in scrappy Christmas fabrics.
It looks like a person could get away with (1) fat eighth per block with careful cutting. Cutting down the length of the 21" side, cut (3) 5" squares. Take the 3rd 5" square and subcutaneous into (4) 2.5" squares. Cut a 3" square down that same side. Next row, cut (7) 3" squares. There is not much wiggle room, but it could be done.
The Gretchen Block is beautiful, Kimberly. Thank you for sharing it! Hoping you are enjoying your retreat this week! :-D
Your Classic and Vintage series is my favorite! I also welcome the challenge of the more difficult blocks. Your directions are so well done, I know I will succeed!
Please do continue these blocks. I would like to see your approach to do the double wedding ring.
Yes please do add more aspirational blocks/patterns to your tutorials from time to time. A stretch out of my comfort zone is less intimidating if I can watch you do it….and oh so rewarding to do🎉

This is fantastic! These HSTs have been something I struggled with but this method looks like something I can do! Thank you for the easy to follow demonstration.
This block is really beautiful! I like that you add harder ones. I have at least 6 quilts in progress at the moment, but I plan to try this next year!
OMG🤣I love the Mean Girl reference
Love the block. Yes yes yes add blocks upon blocks. Everyone likes something different now and then.
This looked so difficult, at first. I just couldn't wrap my head around this block until you went through the steps. Now I'm trying to decide which of my fabrics to use!
Love this vintage block so much. Yes please more complicated blocks to stretch our learning
You actually made fetch happen!!! 😂💖💖💖💖

I love the classic and vintage blocks!!! Yes please more complicated blocks!! They look complicated but the way you break them down into steps they all of a sudden don’t seem very complicated 🙌🏻💝
I did a double-take when I saw the name of this block. As someone who is named Gretchen, we never get anything with our name on it. I am thrilled.
Love this series. You always take something that looks so complicated and make it easy to follow.
I love this idea. I just received an order from your shop of fat quarters that will work well with this block. How timely! Thank you. Please keep challenging us.

Love this block!!❤
Love it:)
You did it FQS you made fetch happen 😂
❤❤❤
I think that’s a beautiful block. But I’m wondering if it won’t make it class difficult because I’m left-handed.
Hello Pam! It will be the same difficulty as it would be for someone that is right-handed.
❤❤❤
👍❤️👍
I know you don’t mention AccuQuilt at all but if your familiar with it, what size die would I use. A four inch or four and a half
Hello Irene! Kimberly does not use Accuquilt. In this video, we used 4" Half Square Triangle Paper - bit.ly/3K5F2g1
How much of the RAINBOW SHERBERT fabric is needed to make this quilt? Fat eighth or fat quarter bundle?
Okay...I just heard her say it is 16 fat quarters for the LAP SIZED QUILT. That is basically (1) FQ per block made. Perfect! This would be really pretty done in scrappy Christmas fabrics.
It looks like a person could get away with (1) fat eighth per block with careful cutting. Cutting down the length of the 21" side, cut (3) 5" squares. My brain wants that to be a disappearing pinwheel SO BADLY.
😂 how weird, we JUST re-watched Mean Girls last night.
👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
