When they performed this on the Sing Off I knew they would win the show. I love this version also because it has Chance in it and I can see how time and experience has just improved their abilities. The video is a throwback to that Ciuntry Calypso beat they chose to do on the Sing Off. I have no doubt Austin and the guys will pick the perfect addition to the group just like they did when Chris left and they gave us Chance. Yes. That was the week I finally thought they had a chance. (Well, that was long before they had a ‘Chance’. I meant they had a chance of winning the Sing Off. Which they did. )
Love the new updated version of the song, this one with Chance now, instead of Chris! I think there are a lot of embellishments from everyone in their parts and I feel that Chance is sort of filling in for Avi from the last video and that he does a pretty darn good job! I have to admit, the first time I watched in Patreon , I was a little unsure myself about the turn the video took after the beginning. But the second viewing, I remembered Sean, from Boyz to Men complimenting Adam on the reggae type beat for the song, that he never would have thought of that style, but it worked. So I kind of thought of that for the style of that part of the video and then to me I kind of fit in and I like it! And even with Playing with Fire, I think that one was a little different too! So, I love this one, music, video and Home Free!!🏡🍟. Thanks Jeffrey!
This song has always been a fan favorite. What a great remake of "Ring Of Fire". It was first done on the "Sing Off" in 2013 & then later with Avi Kaplan. The visuals reminds me of "Fishin' In The Dark"/"Boondocks" (you may want to check that one out). Chance is a nice addition to this version. Of course love Tim's lows & Adam's awesome vocal percussion. I think he sounds even better on this one.
This video is very reminiscent of their early video for Fishin' in the Dark / Boondocks. Because of the Caribbean beat, I think the intent is for an island vibe.
When HF did this song on the Sing Off, the judges wanted them to change it up so they went with a reggae/calypso beat. I think they were playing up Adam’s percussion with the psychedelic angle. And Adam Chance was taking Avi’s place in the 2014 video. Austin is the one leaving (you said Adam) and yes, he’ll be missed terribly but hoping they find another gem like they did with Chance. Love Tim’s low note and that sly smile!🥰
They do a lot of different types of videos . They don't stick to one particular style and there is usually a reason they have chosen the way they have done them.

Usually, if I don't care for a video style, it ends up growing on me after a while. This time not so much! I'll still watch reactions for the vocals. But it felt like they were trying to do too many things at once in this video at times! And everyone has the right to their personal opinion. That's why I watch so many reactors! Thank you for being honest and not just catering to the crowd!

I would agree with you, the song is awesome, and needless to say, their talent keeps growing, but the video is so busy and non-Home Free like, it almost looks amateurish, like someone just got a new editing software, and had to try out every new feature. I prefer the calm footage of the group, like in the original, around a campfire. Or, even what they recorded during the work, fun clips, and so forth. This looks like made for MTV in the 80s.
Yes, we will miss Austin, but we rejoice that he will actually help find his successor (personal opinion - can they get Peter Hollens?). And, as per usual, they did a heckuva job on this revision of the song. I have to agree with you, I'm not shot on the video.
I think you mean Austin will be leaving. I wasn't really diggin' the neon colorful background but the music was ,as always, great. Loved Chances parts in this. He is becoming a more velvety vocal. Avi still has the best velvety seductive warm voice, but Chance is getting there. This is another one of those groups that seems to be breaking all the barriers and setting them higher and carving out a road of their own. Love these guys and am sad to hear Austin is leaving. Wish the best for him and his adventures.
How many damn times are you going to stop and start on Austin's first solo? You're out of control and annoying as hell. Can't even finish your reaction because of it. Your reaction videos are usually top notch. Wasn't feeling this one though. Your interruptions screwed up the flow of the song.
