The animation in this intro is over 20 years old and somehow, by some miracle, it aged like fine, fine paupo fruit wine. The character designs, the lighting, even the scenery manages to all be stellar, even without tools we have in the 2020s like Unreal Engine. I can't overstate how much I love this cutscene; it's truly a masterpiece.
I miss these times where my only worries were beating Sephiroth at the Colisseum. Edit: damn, 1.5 k likes. Glad I wasn't the only one struggling against Seph.

You aren’t alone. I’m 30 now and this still brings me back to a lot. I was very protective with my friends and family before the game and I was even more so after this game and have been since. I tend to put faith in myself and partners in everything we do now and it’s always worked out lol this game subconsciously changed me mentally, emotionally and spiritually and hasn’t been a game like it since.

There are characters who are doomed to live a tragic existence from birth, those who believe that they're destined to be empty forever, who have to come to grips with disappearing or being forgotten.. it's damn sad and i played it young and it made me depressed for so long. The compromise for Donald I’m guessing is that they made him the most powerful mage in SquareEnix’s pantheon of characters.

What most people dont realize is, Riku, as a keyblade wielder, also had a dive to heart like Sora. So, during the events of the prologue, Sora and Riku both had these "weird thoughts". Riku just chose to keep it to himself, much like his character at the time.
I first witnessed this and played the game in 2003, thought it was the most badass thing ever while not knowing how Final Fantasy and Disney would step in. Great memories!
