those violins at 0:33 really hit hard, the way is played with emotion and the melody kinda implying a message of "if only" or "what could have been a happy tale but it wasn't" just as we see in the video how the wayfinder trio challeging circunstance after circunstance getting in the way of what could have been a happy tale
2:10 Aqua is both the most tragic AND most heroic character in the series, imo, full stop. She lost both of her friends but never stopped fighting or trying to get them back, even though she had to hide one away and beat the snot out of another hard enough to give his bodysnatcher amnesia. She fought through the world of Darkness with no armor, vulnerable and alone, and still didn't lose herself or her heart until the last. She went through more than probably anyone else in the series, and her thoughts all the time were/are on protecting her friends. Here, notice how she uses the Reflect/Protect shields to protect her friends instead of herself, selflessly trying to save others, even at great personal cost to her. She only falls after going through more than anyone else, and after putting some plans in place (like Land of Departure/Castle Oblivion and Ventus), and even after falling to the darkness, once she's smacked back to her senses, she immediately gets back into the fight, even going one on one (kind of stupidly, but still) with a powerful foe within mere hours, if even that, after being recovered from the World of Darkness. She's tragic, heroic, and an absolute badass - 100% worthy of the title of Master.
There's something special about this one. I've played every KH and none of the music hits like Ray of hope does. That little bit of dubstep they mixed in is pure firaga.

I embrace the tears. We need more things like this in Kingdom Hearts. It makes it feel more like this could actually be friends trekking through unknown and sad things happening to them like in Birth by Sleep than friends-turned-enemies having a disagreement then being all sappy and reminiscing and reuniting and everything good happening and saving the day and- OH MY GODS JUST HAVE SOME SORT OF EMOTION OTHER THAN HAPPY AND UNICORNS AT THE END ALREADY! I don't know if you're still interested in this gaming series but it's important to say that's a Fantasy Mystery game. And Mysteries have usually a complex story.
If you, like me, grew up and played the games religiously including the non-console ones, then you should understand how emotional this opening is. BBS was heartbreaking when I first played it on the PSP. To see a conclusion in KH3 was something fulfilling.
0.2's opening is so criminally underrated. Utada is back at again and this time,with a more beautiful and more upbeat version of the iconic Simple and Clean song that we've been listening to and loving for years. Plus the visuals and animations are both spectacular and so much prettier than the previous ones. I especially love the part at 1:50 where Aqua reaches for both Ven and Terra's charms as they both appear from light,then hold each other's hands and the trio enjoy their moment together(that was,until frickin Xehanort just had to ruin it). Plus,the little foreshadowing of Sora saving Aqua was so nice to look at,especially after playing KH3 and seeing it happen for real this time in the story. Another reason why I love it so much is cuz 0.2 was my first ever exposure to the KH series,so it holds a very special place in my heart.If it weren't for that,I wouldn't have ever gotten into this bizarre yet beautiful series Man,I just love this opening so much.I hope that more people will get into it and enjoy it as much as I do
