I was a big fan of the song when Sinead O’Connor sang it, but Chris’ version is my favorite. And major thanks to Prince for such a terrific composition!

This is a true story. When Rage Against The Machine broke up the instrumental members were a bit lost. The guitarist Tom Morello was talking to Rick Rubin (that's the musical equivalent of talking to Martin Scorsese) about what to do next. Rick suggested they talk to Chris since Soundgarden had recently broke up Tom agreed... The rest is Tom's words. "Chris lived well out of LA, an hour and a half at the end of this cul-de-sac rising up on a hill. Chris's house was at the end at the top of the hill, almost like a Grimm's fairy tail. We walked up to the house as the sun was setting. We knocked on the double door and it opened... Both sides... There was no one there. Rick looked at me and said "let's get the f$#k out of here". But I stayed. We all made 3 records I'm very proud of"
Heres another little tid bit. Tim Commerford, the bassist for Rage Against The Machine once was in an interview talking about Chris’ lyrics for their Audioslave song called Like A Stone. Tim said he asked Chris “i’ll wait for you there (like a stone)?” “What is it that you’re waiting for.” Tim said Chris just looked at him and said “to die.” Tim was blown away by this.
