The fact that Chris Cornell can sit there, legs crossed, seemingly relaxed and project his voice so perfectly and effortlessly is what’s truly amazing. I was a big fan of the song when Sinead O’Connor sang it, but Chris’ version is my favorite. And major thanks to Prince for such a terrific composition!

    This is a true story.
When Rage Against The Machine broke up the instrumental members were a bit lost. The guitarist Tom Morello was talking to Rick Rubin (that's the musical equivalent of talking to Martin Scorsese) about what to do next. Rick suggested they talk to Chris since Soundgarden had recently broke up Tom agreed... The rest is Tom's words.
"Chris lived well out of LA, an hour and a half at the end of this cul-de-sac rising up on a hill. Chris's house was at the end at the top of the hill, almost like a Grimm's fairy tail.
We walked up to the house as the sun was setting. We knocked on the double door and it opened... Both sides... There was no one there.
We walked in and immediately at the top of this winding staircase at the entrance Chris slowly walked down. 6 foot 3, skinny and dark of countenance.
Rick looked at me and said "let's get the f$#k out of here". But I stayed.
We all made 3 records I'm very proud of"

Heres another little tid bit. Tim Commerford, the bassist for Rage Against The Machine once was in an interview talking about Chris’ lyrics for their Audioslave song called Like A Stone. Tim said he asked Chris “i’ll wait for you there (like a stone)?” “What is it that you’re waiting for.” Tim said Chris just looked at him and said “to die.” Tim was blown away by this. He didnt realize at first how deep Chris Cornells lyrics were.

@@B-Killin that doesn't surprise me. Chris was above all else, authentic. Like a lot of guys try to make harsh songs with dark or disturbed lyrics just to make that kind of music. With Chris it was who he was. He was dark and he found many things disturbing.

Arguably a top 3 greatest cover and the most achingly beautiful sad song in the history of modern rock music.

Great emotive version sung beautifully, i like all versions of this song it's just one of those songs, if your feeling blue and melancholy with the rain hitting the window and it's just one of 'those' days this is the song.

Very seldom is a cover better than the original. This is one of those times! And your reaction was sublime!

I don't know you personally. I've only seen a handful of your reactions. Also, I'm old enough to be your father (of which I am to the best daughter a man could ask for). But, it didn't take me sixty seconds to see that you have a kind, wonderful soul...and the beauty to go along with it. But, that's not why I'm commenting. Your smile holds it all together...don't ever stop doing that. Keep the vids comin...

I remember getting up to go to work when my wife told me he had passed. Such a tragedy. I'm glad I got to see him with Soundgarden and solo a couple of times. He had such a powerful voice but looked like he was doing it almost effortlessly. R.I.P. Chris.

Love this cover and love this man, thanks for reacting. Makes me think of all the talented musicians that succumbed to a drug related fate: Cornell, Hendrix, Staley, Weiland, Winehose, Cobain, Morrison, Becker...so many others I'm sure. Rest easy brothers and sisters, you all still shine on!
