My right back in my team can't head away long balls and always mistake a pass back. I shouted at him and spat at him, even pouring cold water on him, he has become a much better player now
Well you got a problem, my defenders are some lads, and my team generally play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, as our defense is really strong, the first few weeks when I came in were of getting used to for them as I’m a left foot and left handed keeper so my throw outs were curling to their other foot... Your defenders must have some serious issue if they cannot pass properly.. a defender should be the most precise passer, and long ball delivery system in your team, except the keeper of course
Hey Alberto, I found out yesterday that I made the school team as a goalkeeper after 2 weeks of conditioning and 1 week of tryouts. I'm happy but very nervous because our first game is on Tuesday and it's going to be my first time ever being on a team and my first time ever playing a full 90 minute game that's 11 v 11
EnergySubstantial Stay calm bro, that's all I have to say. If you are nervous during the game you are bound to make some mistakes, so just stay calm and not think about it too much. I was like that this year too, I was too nervous and made some mistakes, but now I just keep calm and don't make as many anymore. Good luck on your game bro.
EnergySubstantial Me too lol.But the difference is I'm gonna hv the match in 3 days.At least my enemy aren't school team lol.Hope I can save my team with some saves.
Used this tonight during warm up for the entire team after seeing this video right before and made a decisive save during a breakaway! What an awesome feeling, thank you so much!!!!
Master Goalkeeper Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for making this video!!!!!!!!! I've watched this video like 4 times and I watched it again before my game, and I have to say, this vid replayed in my head many times. I had at least four 1v1's and I saved all of them. Again I'd like to say Thank You!!!!!!!!
My daughter faced her 1st 1v1 break away tonight. It went about as you might have expected for a 9 yr old novice goalie staring down a boy coming at her her full steam ahead. She froze right in her tracks and gave up the goal. Her team still won 2-1 to remain undefeated but now I can show her this tutorial so she’ll know what to do next time it happens. Thanks for sharing!
Just wanted to say thanks for the tips! I've always struggled to defend 1v1 and after watching several of your videos I was able to apply them in the past game and stopped 7-8 breakaways and several point blank shots. Had players from multiple teams trying to get my number after the game.. :) Get low, get big!
No I wouldn't place such a wide blanket number on situations like the 1v1 pro keepers should be able to deal with them more often but a 1v1 heavily favors the striker
I’ve only watched three of your videos so far. But I think they’re dynamite! Nice narration too. Enthusiastic. And the length of the videos are just right as well. 👍🏻
Good job breakaways are hard because the striker has the whole goal to shoot at but we still have a slight chance in we come out big good work keep it up
Thx ARS for this great tip. i have a game tommorow and most people in the league like to do 1 v 1s alot. this vid helped so much in making sure i close down that angle. thx again and can you do a video of simple distribution with the ball?
I was at open fields for my school team and I dislocated my ankle on a 1v1 because I never really had to save them but this is going to help a lot in the future. Thanks man
Starting my first ever league game as goalie today. Been playing keep for like 3 years now but only in scrimmages with my friends and I’m nervous af lol
I play goalie for varsity as a sophomore and dang it's hard these kids shoot rockets which somehow I have always managed to save bc my diving is quite well but I never was good at 1v1s but this helped a lot thanks man.
And one more tip that my pro goalie coach told me: NEVER come out when the defender is in fight for the ball with the striker! You can injury very bad!
Guys remember of course depending on the situation if you catch them with their head down it’s best to close down space awfully quick and dive at their feet.
I deal with them as penalties I jump before the attacker shots and it always works for me and if you're really a fast gk try to make a fake dive with your body to a one side and go back and cover the other side with your feet faaaaast this one will work with you if you're +185 CM I'm 191 and it's perfect for me
love your videos, Alberto. Do you have a similar one for 2v1 or 3v1. I'm playing with kids so there are often situations where I'm left behind alone with multiple attackers. Any tips would be sincerely appreciated.
Hi Alberto, I just wanna know ur advice on how do I plan the time for working on my football skill, should I spend a lot of my time working on those drills for outfield players?
Can you help me with something ? Im an 18y/o with a 6ft 1in height and ive been keeping since 10+ years but the thing is, im a bit overweight, about a 100kgs. Can i become a successful keeper ?
Problem with my club and school is that they try to "megs" me so not only I'm having to walk slow to get to the ball (I'm quite tall so when i run it creates huge gaps) it doesn't make me look as big. Meaning there quite guarantied to score, but im slowly trying to counter that one way or another.
Reaction saves with the feet on 1v1 are definitely acceptable if you can get your hands on it and hold it first every coach would want you to do that but no one would be angry that you decided to kick save the ball out especially if its a quick reaction
I do what Alberto does, and sometimes I save it, but when the striker is at the side of the goal and he rolls it past me to his team mate and they score, help?
We hosted a GK Talk this week and highlighted watched this video as a talking point on 1v1s. During the talk, we recorded our screen. Can I post this recording on our UA-cam? We will be sure to give you a shout out. Thank you!
@@ARSGoalkeeping Of Course. All the goalkeepers we work with know your channel pretty well, so it was cool to hear their thoughts afterwards. We are doing this weekly on Thursdays via Discord. We will probably use more of your videos to review. I'll let you know when/if we use one. Thank you sir! Keep on doing what you do!
I have a question. What if in a 1v1 situation, the attacker places a driven low shot right outside my frame and I don't have time to do a collapse dive. Is it better to stick out a leg or do the leg drop?
Alberto. What's your view on timing a run towards a 1v1 and spreading your legs and arms as wide as possible, going in feet first, compared to reading the play and trying to get two hands on the ball?
Greg haha I just come out, make myself big and let the striker do the rest. If he picks out the top bins well then that's fair enough, but usually the striker looks for you to make the first move, which makes your job pretty easy. I just feint to make it look like I'm going a certain way, or fake that I'm going to make a rash decision, then just pull back. 9 times out of 10 the sloppy touch will occur, upon which I will come out and break him with a slide tackle haha. My coach hates me going with my feet but it just works so well every time haha 😂. Good luck anyway!
I absolutely love the professionalism in these videos. KEEP IT UP.
thanks so much for that comment
Holy I have had to save so many 1v1s and this video helped so much thanks I Rarely let’s them in anymore
Omg you liked my comment also can you plz make a vid about positive communication
My problems are my Defence keeps on passing to the other team
tell the defenders to stop doing it. or tell the manager.
My right back in my team can't head away long balls and always mistake a pass back. I shouted at him and spat at him, even pouring cold water on him, he has become a much better player now

EnergySubstantial I’m in the exact same situation I just made my JV team as goalie and my first game is this Friday
Used this tonight during warm up for the entire team after seeing this video right before and made a decisive save during a breakaway! What an awesome feeling, thank you so much!!!!

That was very informative. Thank you Alberto. Keep them coming 🙏🏽👍🏽
Great stuff, confidence is always an issue for me with 1v1's; I never commit fully to the ball
Genuinely great work. Best UA-cam goalkeeping ive seen (you clearly know what you're doing)
That video and the "save low shots" helped me a lot , guys , nice job ! Keep it on , you're doing well !

Just wanted to say thanks for the tips! I've always struggled to defend 1v1 and after watching several of your videos I was able to apply them in the past game and stopped 7-8 breakaways and several point blank shots. Had players from multiple teams trying to get my number after the game.. :)

Gary Neville says keepers should save 8 out of 10 1 v 1s. Do you agree?
No I wouldn't place such a wide blanket number on situations like the 1v1 pro keepers should be able to deal with them more often but a 1v1 heavily favors the striker
RezIsStupid depends on the situation

Hey Alberto how do you have any tips on adjusting from small goals to big goals
I want to ask you @ars if the player gives the cross for the goal we have to use same techniques for gk
Please make a video on Leg Saves
i tried this with a friend but he gets too close and shoots by my side and scores a goal
I do what Alberto does, and sometimes I save it, but when the striker is at the side of the goal and he rolls it past me to his team mate and they score, help?
Dam you are good
what if I'm doubtful. that's my number 1 weakness is doubt. I don't trust my speed to be able to reach the ball before the striker so any tips?
what kind of gloves do you wear in a football match?
any tips for 1v1 breakaways in 7-a-side football?
Can you do a new test with the nike gk premier sgt??
What if I can't trust my defense to get to the ball when I save it and I can't get up fast enough
