Aces man!!! This turned out AWESOME! Great color choice too. When you first snagged it from the water I was all - Yeah but the Inside looks Rad! Lol!! Seriously, kick ass. Tune sounded great too! For a sec I thought it was a Van Halen track I'd never heard!

It was yellow painters tape. Which is like the blue but it was better. It's going to depend on the brand how good it is though. I can't remember off the top of my head what brand it was, may have been 3M.
Hi! Your snare looks fu´ki`ng amazing! Iam planning to do the same in my whole drumkit. I am testint the technique before I go for it with my drums, but I have a problem: everytime when I put my 2 spray colors on the water and try to mix them with a little stick like you do, the painting becomes a plastic mass and it is not fluid anymore. My question is: did you prepare the water with any product before the spray painting??? Or you just spray it on the water and do it really quick to avoid that problem??? thanks is advance for your reply!!! :D
I didn't prepare the water with anything. I did have the same issue, its hard to see in the video but if you look closely you may be able to catch when I pull the stick out the water that I have a huge clump of paint come up with it. I recommend 2 things, 1: make sure you spray a lot of paint to help prevent the paint from drying on the water to fast. 2: stir up as much of the clumps as possible and either remove it or push it to the side. You definitely don't want that big clump to stick to your work piece.
@@JaceHebert thanks for your answer! Yes I noticed that in your video. Ok I will keep trying! Yesterday I did a couple of "almost successful" tests so I am on my way! ;)
was there anything on the drum before you dipped it? and did you do anything to keep it off the inside of the shell or does it just paint the inside too?
There was a vinyl wrap I removed. An I gave it a light coat of of black primer and did light sanding before dipping it. I also used tape and taped the inside of the shell. Its optional if you want the inside painted. I personally wanted it to be left just wood.
Absolutely love this! I'm planning on doing a similar dip for a client's Yamaha snare, but with different colors. My question is did the exposure to water effect the drum in any way? Yours came out gorgeous!!!
Sweet I'd love to see it when its done. The snare was pretty protected from water because of the masking tape. I'm sure for a quick dip though any part of the shell that wouldn't be covered would be ok. As long as it didn't sit and soak in water.
Hey seriously deserve more sub, you got to up your video production quality, get some good mic. And spend abit more time on video editing video. You may get more subscriber. I subed
That’s a fast response hahaha, anyway i need some, i want to paint over a pvc bucket snare. I want to paint the whole shell but im worry about the bearing edges. What was ur experience when putting the resonance head on the shell?
Thank you. In your opinion what more could I do to up my production quality? All feed back is welcomed. I currently am looking into a 5 piece mic set. I just started using a better editing program. An I had bought a nice camera that I got about 2 months use out of before it decided to crap out. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
Cheap used smartphone or camera is a great bargain. Imo majoirty prefer soft lofi music over rock/metal. Color correction is a huge upgrade to the video quality. Where as audio you can using cheap clip on mic, it’s a huge upgrade from built-in mic.
Well right now I'm using a galaxy s10 to record video. I was using a nikon d5300 DSLR but that crapped out recently. I go back and forth with the music but rock an alternative is my heart an soul so I'll never really stray away from it. Plus, I'm not trying to set the same demographic as rDavidr channel.
Very cool looking. I didn't realize that this technique is something I could do. Want to try a similar blue theme.
This Snare came out great!! Awesome job!!
Thanks man I appreciate it!

This would be an awesome way to refurb a whole kit....could be tough though. Snare is beautiful. great job.
Loads of work haha
Great job man came out sweet 👍
Thanks Bro
It looks amazing, but you already knew that. Keep it up dork
Hello! How did you protect those little holes where the screws of the lugs go?
I put tape over the holes on the inside of the shell.

Nice job.
Thank you!
WICKED AWESOME DUDE!
This looks insane
Did you do anything to prep the snare so that the water didn’t have adverse effects on the wood
Yes, I taped off the inside of the snare so it would stay dry.
Great job! Loved watching the video.
Hey what did you spay at the end of video?
Clear coat to protect the paint.
Hi what type of paint are you spraying in the water
Enamel spray paint.
Nice
really cool!
What exactly did you spray it with after it was dipped?
Gloss clear coat

What kind of spray paint did I should use... it is conventional spray paint?
I recommend rustoleum, I usually stick with rustoleum paint an clear.

Hello from Greece..my friend,what is "rustoleum".. I can't find a translation 🤔
Hello! It is a brand name of spray paint, its usually sold at big hardware stores here in the US.
Ok...what is for.. spray for steel,wood,..???what?
There is all types. Some can be used for every material.
Maybe you should do a painting video on painting your cymbal and your drum sticks
I've never heard of anyone painting cymbals. I don't think that would go too well.
It probably wont go well lol. But they do have painted meinl dark cymbals. An I believe pasite has a painted series as well.
Man this looks amazing. Why dont you have more subs
so amazing. now i subscribe you channel
I feel bad for laughing when the paint went all on the inside that got me. Anyways, I enjoy your enthusiasm man great vid. Just subbed

I didn't have a problem with putting the heads on after painting. I think as long as you tape off the rim of the bucket you'll be fine.

may i ask what type of paint you use on it? thanks a lot
It was rust oleum enamel spray paint.
@@JaceHebert thank you... I have a steel shell that's been sitting for years that I'm planning to restore. was thinking of doing hydro paint on it. 😃
@jaqledesma my only concern with it being steel is the paint may not stick well to it. It may end up flaking off over time.
