Isn't that what paiste colorsounds and every other color coated cymbal is? IDK honestly but it does seem the surface treatment does dry them out a bit listen: ua-cam.com/video/GdJ6Hx3fD9g/v-deo.html & no coating ua-cam.com/video/ukIFZIevyCI/v-deo.html Bad comparison i know due to things like difference in size, recording gear and acoustics and maybe construction methods, etc. But listen to how much less the 22" rings even though it is the bigger cymbal. Still no definitive conclusion since I'm just going off these videos since I couldn't find an uncoated 22' rude mega bell model demo
I am from the Era when we used to drink from the water hose and i am 41 yrs old, a little paint sniffing isn't going to hurt you unless you are under 35 yrs old you don't have that protective layer that the water hose water coated our innards with!
My life is pathetic, but I've been waiting for this to happen (just learned about your videos a couple weeks ago). My Christmas is now complete. Thanks for all the great vids. Merry Christmas to all.
I'm a guitarist and I think I've seen every single video of yours, incredible channel, really enjoying binging on your videos and I swear I now know more about drumming than my drummer friends! Well done
I watched your video about the Moon gel VS Window Decal things. Never thought Id find those window decals since I live in the UK. But, walking through some weird ass shop, boom, decals. Bought some and thanks to a purple star my snare sounds awesome! You're a Genius!
Dave, that drum set is really sharp looking. I’m also a drummer with 10 drum sets of various sizes, but my favorite set is on my computer it’s called real drum and it’s a free download. I also enjoy restoring old toys preferably toy trucks.
the spraypattern on a paintgun is a flattened fan the to knobs that stick out the spraynozzle flatten the pattern so if you sprat up and don turn the nozzle or you spray thick in the middle and thin next to it and you get drips
You should make a high quality cymbals hard case. Custom depths to be the strongest possible, but smallest hardcase it can be. Hinge, clasp, whatever. I'd love to see something like that from you!
Man you don't have anything to worry about when it comes to spraying without a respirator on, I paint rims an cars, an every painter at any body shop will tell ya they don't wear one in the summer. (which don't get me wrong that's kinda stupid cause I do lol) You have inspired me cause I've been looking at cheap sets on craigslist. so now i plan to buy one an paint it!
David! make a hybrid snare drum out of those tom pieces! You've got the skills to do it. Also, you should buy cheap drum kits, deck them out than sell em. Good for your channel and make some extra scratch. I really like your videos. Always a blast to watch.
*Strange demonic ringtone that sounds like "a 3-year-old learning how to play marimba"* rdavidr: "Paint it"? Who...? Hello? Demonic voice: PAINT IT. rdavidr: W-who are you?! Demonic voice: THAT DOESN'T MATTER, JUST PAINT THE GODDAMN TOM ALREADY. JUST DO IT. rdavidr: What...wh...who....WHAT?!
And this is why I wrap my drums. Fortunately I dont have the wood imperfections and my sanding is super light (mainly around hardware holes). AWESOME video though.. I love how you edit your content. Music and all... it's awesome.
More painting, more sanding, more painting, some more sanding, some more painting, some more sanding, a bit more painting, yet more sanding. 30 years later... XD
I've got it on my drumset and i find it superb, the shell resonate, you can choose the hoops that you like (I use 2.3 triple flanged), it doesn't damage the shell and obviously you don't have to drill the tom!.
What grit did you use with the hand sander? And do you have any suggestions on how to take off factory paint on a snare drum? It seems like it's going to be really hard. All I have is a hand sander.
+Beau Manning I used 120 grit in the video because its all I had left lol, but I would suggest 60 or 80 grit for taking factory finishes, then once you get through the finish work through to the finer grits.
Hey, I got a Ludwig accent classic floor Tom black, I think lacquer, I want to paint it orange enamel, should a light sanding be enough prep or do I need to remove the lacquer completely?
you make my day!!i love your videos!!please make a video about your pedal!it's a custom pedal from different parts..isn't it?i want to make someday a custom pedal...
don't use wood filler, use grain filler (yes, there's a difference). watch some videos on "grain filling a guitar". watch some videos on wet sanding and buffing out the clear on a guitar. the processes would be exactly the same to get that "smooth as glass" finish (like stuff comes from a factory). btw, a good grain filler is this stuff called timber mate. it's sold online and at woodcraft stores (if there's one near you).
literally the best channel for drummer
When are you gonna paint your cymbals
FaderCloud thats the joke...
Isn't that what paiste colorsounds and every other color coated cymbal is? IDK honestly but it does seem the surface treatment does dry them out a bit

Congrats on 10,000 + subs!

LanceCampeau wow 10,000...
10,000 is also the number of days it took him to paint the damn tom lol
@@brandonlizarraga1742 10,000 is also the number of times he painted and sanded it! 😂
I'm on there like 3 times! lmao. It was fun picking on you
Haha! Your humor always makes my day!
$20 drum set turned into the 20 year drum set :/ Turned out awesome! Your videos are very inspiring.
I am from the Era when we used to drink from the water hose and i am 41 yrs old, a little paint sniffing isn't going to hurt you unless you are under 35 yrs old you don't have that protective layer that the water hose water coated our innards with!
1thess523 water hose water is the best

My life is pathetic, but I've been waiting for this to happen (just learned about your videos a couple weeks ago). My Christmas is now complete. Thanks for all the great vids. Merry Christmas to all.
"Who are you?" "It doesn't matter just paint the god damned tom already!" lmao
It's been almost a year... Have you finished the snare yet?
I'm a guitarist and I think I've seen every single video of yours, incredible channel, really enjoying binging on your videos and I swear I now know more about drumming than my drummer friends! Well done
So finally it happened. Now I can sleep well again. Thank goodness.
The ringtone is damn nice.
Looking forward to the snare project!
I watched your video about the Moon gel VS Window Decal things. Never thought Id find those window decals since I live in the UK. But, walking through some weird ass shop, boom, decals. Bought some and thanks to a purple star my snare sounds awesome! You're a Genius!
No way! Same for me! My mum bought a frozen window decal for my little brother and I stole some pieces and it sounds almost like a BFSD
the best opening to any drum video ever. thanks for this david.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR THIS VIDEO! FINALLY!!!!!! THANK YOU DAVID!!!!!
I don't think you realize how much we need that ringtone
@rdavidr we need this
man I LOVE the beats you make for your videos
Your video was really funny, it cheered me up. A sticker from you I shall buy, my good sir!
+Ana Isabel Lopez haha sweet!

Wow.... 9 months to paint a drum... That´s more than even Yamaha. It looks really good. Be proud.
I've been so excited for this, I can't even... and your making a snare too? Best series in the world!! 😆👌
Definitely want to try this out. Thanks for the video. That's a sweet color!
where did he get the ringtone from
made it
+rdavidr nice!! lol
+rdavidr would u mind shareing those songs with one of your followers!!? 😉
rdavidr you should share that ringtone. It’s epic

The opening part of this video was hilarious! I dig it.
It's gorgeous!
I like how thorough you are.
I love these kinds of videos man. I had totaly forgot about that tom haha
That is the most epic ringtone ever!!! XD
Looks great! Merry Christmas!
HAHAH! Finally man, you just made my day. No joke. you are amazing.
oh btw the toom turned out great looking, good job as always
My thoughts during the first minute: "He's not gonna paint it here. He's just gonna do stuff like this for the whole video."
Looks really good man. Nice work.
so good man, will worth the wait.
Man you don't have anything to worry about when it comes to spraying without a respirator on, I paint rims an cars, an every painter at any body shop will tell ya they don't wear one in the summer. My favorite tune. Listen to it all the time on SoundCloud.

Love your channel bro, keep it up!
that ringtone tho. i need it
incredible! great work as always. thanks so much for making these videos
Nice job. Looks great
-Paint the tom!! Paint it! Paint it! Paint it! Paint it!
-Okay, FINE!!! *seven coats of paint*
When u ganna paint your snare huh?
Beautiful colour, but I can't figure out why you primed it and then sanded all the primed paint off?
ever think about painting the hardware? I have a similar project in mind, however I want to paint the lugs and such white.
Bruh 4 years and you still need a bigger routing table
Last drum, best finish!
Wow it looks new great project now the snare😈
Love your channel!!
Love your work dude! The $20 set looks fantastic!! Matching colour 13" snare next?
Dude, you have sooo much patience!!
Glad ya kept hoops natural. I love the natural hoops
+Joey Starns - NarsAcoustic Cannibal ya dont say ;)
+Joey Starns - NarsAcoustic Cannibal - ...and straight lugs!
as opposed to unstraight lugs?
It would be really hard to tune with unstraight lugs. Hmmmmm I'm not even sure what "and straight lugs" means but still love natural hoops
More painting, more sanding, more painting, some more sanding, some more painting, some more sanding, a bit more painting, yet more sanding. 30 years later... XD
have you ever painted lugs? i did it for a drum i sold...although i prepped them it came out kind of shitty
I love how creepy you made the start of the video. Really sells it for me.
Respirator? That's what moustaches are for! ;)
If you want to mount the tom on a cymbal stand, just try to buy a used Ludwig Atlas Bracket. It works great!
+Vincenzo Grossi oh wow that looks interesting, ill have to check it out
I've got it on my drumset and i find it superb, the shell resonate, you can choose the hoops that you like (I use 2.3 triple flanged), it doesn't damage the shell and obviously you don't have to drill the tom!.
Nice work. That's a great feeling, isn't it?
Wait so isn't the paint going into the tom through the holes for the hardware?
+Haleigh Bird Theres tape on the inside
Okay good lol. I was like "he's too smart to let it go inside"
So this is like a decade later from the last shot
PAINT THAT TOM!! PAINT THAT TOM!!! PAINT THAT TOM!!!!
what is that ringtone lol. no,really I wanna know
+TuttyAndrei lol, I made it. its the iphone marimba ringtone, but if a 3 year old was learning how to play marimba hahaha
I thought it was genius haha
+rdavidr anyway, can I find it somewhere?
+TuttyAndrei I dont have it posted anywhere and honestly have no idea where the file is, but ill look for it
+rdavidr hey david if you find it please let me know!
Very cool,
What kind of paint was that you sprayed? Water-based Lacquer?
hey david, whats the orginal track you sampled in the background music of this video?
Hey, I got a Ludwig accent classic floor Tom black, I think lacquer, I want to paint it orange enamel, should a light sanding be enough prep or do I need to remove the lacquer completely?
you make my day!!i love your videos!!please make a video about your pedal!it's a custom pedal from different parts..isn't it?i want to make someday a custom pedal...
hello, how long between painting, sanding, painting please?
Some see he is still sanding and painting....
almost nailed that... almost
Would spray paint work for this kind of project?
where do you get that metal ring you put on with the hammer? been trying to find one.
+Tiago Fernandes its an air vent from another old drum I had, but check out Drum Factory Direct, they sell them
+rdavidr Exactly! an air vent! thanks a lot, keep up with the good work brother.
What is the name of the color of that set? I love it I buy and restore drums and that seems to be next on my agenda.
where can I find those kinda lugs that you have on that drum ??
Looks good man.
what kind of remo skin do you have on your bass drum? Looks awesome
don't use wood filler, use grain filler (yes, there's a difference). watch some videos on "grain filling a guitar". watch some videos on wet sanding and buffing out the clear on a guitar. the processes would be exactly the same to get that "smooth as glass" finish (like stuff comes from a factory).
btw, a good grain filler is this stuff called timber mate. it's sold online and at woodcraft stores (if there's one near you).
7:50, Steve Miller sample?
+Dominic O'Korn yep
A bit late, but glazing putty is what you need for prepping open-grain wood for paint.
Hey I'm thinking about making a 10 inch tom. Do you know where I can find just a plain shell?
You can find plain shells at Drum factory direct . com
hahahah shit, I laughed my arse off watching your dramatic intro
Nice. I like that color.
you really made me want to chase drum building
0:31 dude, what ring tone is that? i want it
It's the iPhone Marimba ringtone, but he edited it so that it sounds demonic, or according to him, "like a 3-year-old learning how to play marimba" XD
This intro is hilarious
0:44 *” H E Y*
*T H A T D O E S N ‘ T M A T T E R*
*J U S T P A I N T T H E G O D D A M N T O M A L R E A D Y*

great color!
YESSS YOU DID IT YUUUszz
How come you recut the bearing edge?
Hey man, exactly what kind of spray clear coat is that that you used
I didn't know you were a professional actor!😂😂😂😂
