Yay Small Brawl did well, #4! I will take your compliment as high praise, level design is my specialty. That being said don't worry about holding back, I was one of Small Brawl's harshest critics for years, even refusing to put it on my resume. Content creators like you, Nick and some others made me realize it was a solid entry into the PS1 franchise, thanks. Also, I will say Twisted Metal: Black Online was the superior version, but I am biased since I made that after Small Brawl.
9:03 I do wish that eventually Sony will release a "Definitive Edition" of Black with updated textures, the multiplayer-exclusive levels as regular stages, and adding all of the content from Lost (including maybe a quickly-made ending for 12-Pak) as a budget release to test the waters for a new game with the show's success, maybe they could even give a discount to everyone who bought the original PS4 version of Black
The only things I liked about twisted Metal 2 it is that it improved in almost every aspect over the first except in in the feel of the cars. These cars all drive like they're on ice. The AI is unfairly aggressive, since they have unlimited everything, They are not shy on reminding you (looking at YOU Mr. Slam). No doubt it's a legendary game but I'm not held back by crowd bias and I'm not afraid to say that it's flaws don't exactly make it a fun game unless you sit down and actually learn how to deal with the AI and the handling itself. The things I did like about this game are that it stepped up the creativity from the first one by a massive margin, from the cars to the maps. The soundtrack is an absolute chef's kiss! AND YOU GET TO PLAY AS MINION IN ALL HIS OP GLORY! Honestly, my favorites in the franchise are twisted Metal 3, twisted Metal 2012 and twisted Metal black. Small brawl is also like you said Underrated because it's a lot more fun than it appears.
I'm surprised twisted metal never got a arcade game, it feels like a perfect fit to me. a physical recreation of a part of the cars from the game, with a steering wheel and gun controller?
9:18 Ghetto and Downtown were actually going to be in Lost as the level City Of The Dead, but you can only acess the level with gameshark, due to bugs the level has such as incomplete spawn locations causing cars to spawn in each other
I never played most these games growing up (I think I have vague memories of Small Brawl) but your videos on it really got me invested in the sort of meta journey it went through hopping between studios.
Cool video mashup but I think it would've worked a little better without the score gauges during the 10 word reviews. They kinda spoiled the ranking that followed. Still enjoyed it though
Twisted metal ending concept for a sequel to twisted metal 2012. Particularly for a new version of preacher. The son of the preacher found in the prior game who calypso trapped in hell. This young preacher’s wish would be just like twisted metal two outlaws where he wishes to be with his father, sending him to hell too. There would be a short moment where the two preachers talk then the young one says “Oh father. This place can hardly hold one of us. Do you really think it can hold is both” pulling out a tome he summons his own version of brimstone and the duo drive off. Ending with “Calypso is a fool to think we are sticking around. And we are bringing his whole collection with us!”
2012, Head On & 2 are my favorites. I also love Vigilante 8 & Rock N Roll Racing. RnRR influenced TM, if anyone is interested check out the Super Nintendo version.
I am always happy to catch a TM video from the likes of you and Vicarious Nick and some others because the more this series is talked about the more likely we might get another one day. Hopefully one on the level of TMB but who knows? Anything new would be nice at this point.
TM3 is not 2/10 not a chance. I can see why people don’t like it but I would say it deserves at least a 5/10. I rate it 7-8/10. Also TM4 should be at least an 8/10.
1:23 😂 Fair enough, but besides the final boss I still love it. The first one I ever played. It’s a good time, just most of the endings and characters are crap. I still like how Sweet Tooth takes over and the levels save for a couple as well as the music. Construction Yard is so memorable.
But twisted metal black suffers from poor graphics . In most the the levels you can’t see anything or distinguish the floor with the environment. And everything is to dark. I love twisted metal 4 better. The worlds are fun and the music hit different . Specially the neon city level. The built your own car mechanic is awesome. In twisted metal 4 even tho graphics are low you still can determine the environment and it’s brighter. Easy on the eyes when playing
Black is objectively the best made game in the franchise, but I do like 2 the best. I pre-ordered and picked up Small Brawl the day it released. It is an awesome game that had bad timing because it released at the time the franchise turned dark and gritty. Goodrich can send me Anthrax anytime. I prefer their first 4 albums.
These TM reviews were good! But it feels like you missed one game in particular: Rogue Trip Vacation 2012 Why? Because it's from the same devs than the first two TM, and I'd be curious to see how it ranks against the other TM on the PS1. It's also very underrated, as well as being a big childhood game of mine (just like Vigilante 8 2nd Offense of the same gendra) so I'd enjoy if you can do a more in-depht review of this particular game? I know you covered it for one of your TM knock-off video, but revisiting this game for the sake of a good comparison with the TM franchise would be sweet (tooth).
Here is mine: TM1: How a bad game aged so poorly? (3/10). TM2: The nostalgia factor did not stand with this one (4/10). TM3: I remember it better, but i still like it (7/10). TM4: "The first two are gems, this sucks" Are you ok? (9/10). TMB: We all know it, we all love it (9/10). TMSB: HOLD ON! This really came after Twisted Metal Black? (8.5/10). TMHO: Stop crying, this isn't the real Twisted Metal 3 (6/10). TM2012: I wish i had a better computer (8.5/10).
If I had to make a top 5 TM list... Twisted Metal Black, Twisted Metal 2, TM 1, TM:Head-On and TM Small Brawl. Honorable Mention to TM 2012. TM 3&4 are at the very bottom where they should be.
It will always be a true shame that tm2 and tm black is near perfect fun other than the unfair AI cheating and never treating the tournament as a tournament. I would agree and say they are the best if not for the advantage they always have. Well I also grew up playing tm4 so to me that is my favorite, bias as hell I am.
I think the lowest TM4 deserves is a 6/10, but to me it's a 8.5, it's night and day more enjoyable than TM3. 989 was dealt an awful hand and deserved more time, but they really stepped up My 2 favorite games though is Black and Small Brawl, 2001 was a great year
im always up for twisted metal content from you, at-least as far as the games go, the show was too cheap and hokey for me, need something bleak and absurd not big bang theory meets deathrace

I gotta ask; how was the bacon you cooked for the logo?
Bros reviewed this series like 30 times already…and I’m here for it
SAME
Same, and I always skip through anything that's not about 1, 2, or Black.

you know what not many people talk about Twisted Metal: Black Online
your vigilante 8 2nd offence was better and is still my fave car combat game
V81 level design is still some of the best in the industry fr. Thank you 🙏

Do you plan on doing a retrospective on the God of War games similarly to what you’ve done with Twisted Metal?
When are we going to start seeing Vigilante 8 reviews?
I’d love to see a god of war series cover by you
I never played most these games growing up (I think I have vague memories of Small Brawl) but your videos on it really got me invested in the sort of meta journey it went through hopping between studios.

snuck in Bronson reed's ankle shattering performance at the end, nice
13:25 amazing callback to one of your earlier videos
Which one?
I am always happy to catch a TM video from the likes of you and Vicarious Nick and some others because the more this series is talked about the more likely we might get another one day. Hopefully one on the level of TMB but who knows? Anything new would be nice at this point.
Happy to see Small Brawl getting the appreciation it's always deserved.
Twisted metal black? Great vehicle physics?
Vigilante 8 _ Hold my beer

I have never ever touched a twisted metal game but i watched all of your videos about it
You should rank the twisted metal characters from thickest to flattest
curious to hear your thoughts on star wars demolition
TM3 Soundtrack elevates it

This was a great video thank you for putting in the time!
Tbp posted let’s fking go
Gotta appreciate the Kirby music during your 10 words or less review! Wasn't expecting that considering your general distaste of "cutesy" games.
These TM reviews were good! But it feels like you missed one game in particular: Rogue Trip Vacation 2012

Twisted Metal 3 "Proof Higher Framerates don't always mean smoother gameplay"
Very well done
Great list it was spot on
Can you make a video about Shadow of the Colossus? 🙏🙏
I know nobody asked, but my top 5 rankings would be:
1. TM2
2. Black
3. TM1
4. Head On
5. Small Brawl
Kirby music yeah!
An unfinished game is better than 3 & 4? I’m shocked, SHOCKED!!!! Well not that shocked.
If CAPCOM can make a new Onimusha, Sony can make a new Twisted Metal ...
Here is mine:
TM1: How a bad game aged so poorly?
Please review all 15 gta games.

My 2 favorite games though is Black and Small Brawl, 2001 was a great year
“How can I miss you if you don’t go away?”
Sums up Chris Jericho’s AEW run. Sorry, I just wanted to contribute to the toxic pro wrestling environment.
Small brawl is the worst imo due to the slow and dull combat.
Of course Twisted Metal Black is number one lol
im always up for twisted metal content from you, at-least as far as the games go, the show was too cheap and hokey for me, need something bleak and absurd not big bang theory meets deathrace
nice meme
Next suggestion, every twisted metal game best described by caveman grunt sounds and whatever shade of orange suits it the most 🙄
Really milking this huh?
