Not to clap for ads or whatever, but I appreciate that whenever you do game sponsorships, it's for actual video games instead of exploitative free to play stuff
Yeah I agree, I personally bought the game God of Rock when he sponsored some months ago. And it was actually a pretty fun game despite that I suck on rhythm games. 😂
The problem with a Concord episode is it would need to be at least 4 times longer than a regular episode. The failure was that bad and the issues are that deep.
@WaifuEndMyLaifu The single good thing that came out of Concord was people actually hearing about Secret Level which caused them to check it out when it cane out. I definitely wouldn't have bothered had I simply seen it pop up on my Prime main page as a recommendation. I don't think I'd even Google it.
Some of the most talented people to ever work on video games worked on that game. The music and sound effects is one of the best ive ever heard and still memorable to this day
So, you're telling me I cannot name my kid "Shadow Man Turok Mister Skyrim" so I can have unlimited games? Damn you, publishers, everything is lies... EVERYTHING IS LIEEEEEES.
Given what was recently announced at The Game Awards, (though it may take a couple years for all the info to be either leaked or otherwise made public.) A What Happened episode on Platinum Games would be very interesting.
That's for covering this one. Absolutely loved this game on the N64, the dark story and voodoo themes were incredibly refreshing at the time, and my god some of the music from the game, I still cringe a bit when I get to the "play" area of the Asylum.
I absolutely love this game - playing the original back on N64… the nighttime remake was awesome - so happy this game got some love. Great video, nice suprise to end the year!
Xenogears might be a good episode. I mean, the most ambitious JRPG ever conceived, deeply immersed in philosophy (and anime tropes), goes from an epic tale in disc 1 to... a literal slideshow telling what should happen in the game in disc 2. What happened?
Don’t think that’s what the universe was called and honestly not saying their masterpieces, but the Venom moves are probably the best thing to come from those non-Spider-Man movies by comparison.
@@Santoryu90the official name is Sony Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC, dangerously close to SCUM lmao) Also, unpopular opinion but as a carnage fan: Kraven and Morbius>Venom 2
Wow, so happy to see a video on Shadow Man, one of my favorite games ever! Completed it both on N64 and Dreamcast, back in the day. I really love it! 😍
completely missed it when it was new, saw the remaster and it sparked a form of nostalgia in me regardless, as it looked like a polished example of a game from that time when games still seemed magical. So I picked up the remaster and was not disappointed. I am sorry I missed it the first time around.
I'd also like to see Nightdive Studios make a remaster of Shadow Man 2econd Coming and give that game the 2econd...um, I mean second chance some people may feel it deserves!
Re: the new Shadowman game - it may be held up (or canned) because Valiant Comics had their publishing shift from in-house to being done through license to Alien Books. It, uh, doesn't exactly paint a good picture for stuff going on with the company ever since those behind much of its revival in 2012 left the company back in 2018 (and several of them went on to form the company known as Bad Idea...).
I played the Nightdive Remaster back in October and was very surprised at how great of a Metroidvania/Search Action game it was. I appreciated how the upgrades weren’t the traditional double jumps or late-game flight, but thematically appropriate abilities like becoming more impervious to fire and the Incredibly Metal power to climb waterfalls of blood. One special late game upgrade doesn’t change you, but parts of the game world itself. Top notch stuff. Also super neat how the remaster added cut content back into the game. That is something that way more “remasters” should do. Imagine playing the cut dungeons from Wind Waker instead of Band-Aid slapped on the Triforce hunt, or a finished Lost Izalith.
Wait... Shadow Man was toned down? Sheesh, and this is a game where you literally swim in pools of blood! Also, indeed the PS1 version was such a hot mess, lmao. I was surprised at how playable the OG PC port of Shadow Man still was and even how much it held up, despite the dated controls. Good thing Nightdive came swooping in with such an amazing remaster, pretty much the ULTIMATE way of playing this game and they even included a PDF of the poster sized map that came with the physical copies of the game back then. Unfortunately just like Turok Evolution, Shadow Man 2 was such a disappointment for me back then, it definitely felt rushed. Hopefully it'll also get revived by Nightdive, at the very least just for preservation sake.
Shadow Man has always been my pick for "very underrated game". I grew up with the worst version, the PS1 version, but I still enjoyed the game despite its technical shortcomings. Then Night Dive did a Night Dive and remastered the game making it the great macabre collect-a-thon Shadow Man deserved to be. I love this game. I know this video was about the game's development and history, but something does need to be said on how good the game actually is despite its troubles.
The only thing I've really remembered about Shadow Man is that there's an unskippable trailer for the game on a PlayStation demo disc, and you have to watch it every time you play the disc. Aside from that, I didn't know much about Shadow Man, until now.
I would honestly love to see you do a dive into the fear effect franchise as a whole. I really wish they'd actually do that rumored reboot/remaster/remake or whatever of it. I loved that series.
My personal favourite was an episode of SmackDown from around 2014, where The Shield systematically hunted down a bunch of heels that had tried to claim the bounty placed on them by The Authority
this is one of my favorite games, as soon as the Nightdive remaster released on console, i even took days off to binge it, even was the first to earn the platinum
This is one of those games for me where no one I knew heard about it before, I always got random N64 games that my dad would find on sale. But also back then I never figured out what I was supposed to do and ran around getting killed by dogs.
Huh. Didn't expect to see Dead Man's Promise here. I played through it yesterday and I liked it a lot. Got a bunch of weapons that are clearly an homage to Blood and Dusk. No dual-wielding lever-action shotguns, though.
This game had so much in common with Soul Reaver, game and world Design were really similar. Wonder if teesside and Crystal Dynamics were passing notes.
I remember playing this game on PlayStation, it was creepy with all the voodoo stuff and the sound effects. I got stuck in a place that i never discovered how to proceed. I think i still have the save in a memory card somewhere lol The second one i never played, but i remember seeing a screenshot in a magazine.
I actually had a Shadowman demo disk for pc back in the day, which barely ran on our family computer. Convinced me to get the Playstation version pre-owned. Despite the jank I loved the atmosphere and story.
I didn't know about the fact there was a Bloodshot game in development at one point thanks to Acclaim being themselves starting projects, spending money on ridiculous assets and making last minute awkward business decisions that affected everyone in the long run, it's wild that a Bloodshot game nearly happened at all, still though Shadowman's future is looking bright and I'm not sure if we'll see that new project anytime soon since we last heard about it a year back so I can picture a couple of years down the road to hearing some update on the project given it's proposed to be this potential AAA budgeted title so yeah I would expect a longer development time for it.
Oh buddy… I wouldn’t hold your breath on Darque Legacy ever coming out. Blowfish are focused on crypto stuff as they’re owned by a gross crypto company as well as having massive layoffs earlier this year 😢
It got some comic art with Darkstalkers and that’s about it. I mean Queen’s Blade got a full on crossover and I like both just wish the QB game was better.
Funny I kind of like to see the ps1 port get patched even if its fan made, if runs and plays much better than official one. To see what it's like, if it more polish and wasn't rush out. And hope Shadow Man 2 get a remaster.
But why? If you want a better version of the PS1 version just play the Dreamcast version as it is pretty much what the PS1 version was meant to be. If you want a remastered version play the PS4 version. No need to waste an ungodly number of amateur coding hours.
(High Pitched Scream in Agony) Atomic Planet!!! They made the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. How do you screw up the controls in the GameCube version of that collection?!

A What Happened to Concord episode will be an equivalent to The Day Before Episode.
Even the Secret Level episode of Concord was disappointing
Exactly

"Politicians and other idiots" 😂
Hey, hey, hey! Don't lump politicians in with those poor idiots!
Every time someone brings up Valiant comics it makes me want an episode about what happened with that Ironman and X-O Man-of-war crossover game.
A friend once told me that game was the reason Iron Man wasn't in the original MvC. Never been able to confirm it.
Where's my Magnus Robot Fighter??
Shadow Man's soundtrack is so bloody good.
