The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

The theme of this episode was a "A Salute to American Composers" and featured famous songwriters as well as singers to showcase their compositions. Songwriters making an appearance were Ira Gershwin, Harry Ruby, Saul Chaplin, Jimmy McHugh, Arthur Freed, Grace Kahn, Donald Kahn and Sammy Fain. A few of them have been posted from the piano medley segment. The performers featured included Jerry Vale, Florence Henderson, Steve Lawrence, Juliet Prowse, Phil Silvers and Blossom Seeley. I'd like to see Jerry Vale sing "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" from this episode!
Lots of folks chiefly remember the late Ms. Henderson for her portrayal of Carol on "The Brady Bunch", but I knew that she began her showbiz life as a musical theatre performer, and a great one at that.
Gorgeous voice!!!!
?....you listen to music much?
Love Ms. Henderson’s Nellie Forbush! ❤️
Great performance. I always loved 😍 the way she sang as well as acted. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You and stay safe
One of my favourites of all time...singer and song. 💘
The year I was born. One month after the Beatles stepped on that same stage! One year before Boss Radio KYNO-Fresno! KHJ Los Angeles ruled the airwaves!
WOW!!! I heard she could sing & ther're right!
Million dollar voice.
Wow i didnt know she could sing this great !
Came to NY. Two weeks later had a job in the chorus of a Broadway musical. One your later had a starring role in a musical. Never stopped working after that.
This was around the time that she was doing Noel Coward’s “ The girl who came to supper”.
5 years later Mrs Brady would develop laryngitis right before being scheduled to sing at church on Christmas Day, But a department store Santa Claus promised Cindy that she would get her voice back in time. And so she did.
Amazing!
More vids of acts and comedian's please
With those looks she coulda been an actress!
She was.
Threeee doggg
Too bad her career fizzled out and we never heard from her again after this…
