namboozleUK I think for sim racing it still doesn't beat 40" tv or 32" triple monitors, because the vertical FOV isn't high enough, that the display won't be 1:1 scale. However, this is best for fps or 3rd person games.
StrikerX1360 that's gonna be my next monitor! I hope they release it in the US because Philips has a habit of releasing most of their high end stuff only in the EU..
But then a VR headset can do everything without taking so much space, plus you can wear a headset on one of those hydraulic chairs just fine while counting one of these screens on it would be a nightmare. Just wait for an 8k 60+fps headset that gives you enough of a FOV to simulate how much you would be able to see with a helmet on and you're set without needing to buy a new desk or even house
Viper007Bond not in practice, I played project cars with Vr and in a 21:9 ultra wide for hours and definitely ultra wide was way better, I think Vr is still crawling like a baby, one day will stand up. For more contradictory that may look like, the ultra wide seems to have more resolution than Vr, this really upsets me. I played with HTC vive, rift and PS Vr. (sry my English)
of course racing in VR still isn't a thing for many and won't be for a while, but if I want to use a hydraulic chair I'm not gonna trust even the sturdiest of supports to keep such a behemoth of a screen strapped on the setup without fear of having it fall on me one day or another. VR is still a bit too far from being the way to go for driving games in general but in this specific aspect it's just far more desireable on a mechanical standpoint.
This was Exactly what I needed of information. I was wondering the actual size compared to a person, how it ran, and most importantly, how it could be split up. That setup with a game in the middle, then youtube to the left and streaming at the right is just the thing I need. Thank you for the awesome work and all the information. ^_^

I'm using this monitor right now and it's absolutely amazing!.... The problem with listening to Linus is he talking for a tech professionals point of view. The average person is going to absolutely love this Monitor!! It has surpassed all my expectations..... And I got it on Holiday Sale on Amazon for $799.99! Can't beat that!
Hes not even saying anything that bad? A lot of the information is pretty important to the average user and has nothing to do with being a tech professional.
Daniel Fisher you did see the examples of this with 3 windows right? I also saw this in another review with 6. Yes it's 32:9, but that is doesn't take into account tech that allows you to break out multiple windows.
What? "but that is doesn't take into account tech that allows you to break out multiple windows" EVERY monitor can do that. Has literally nothing to do with the monitor, that's software.
Only twice the ppi if you compare it to a 1080p tv. Compared to a 4k tv sliced in half (which is still half the price, btw) the TV has twice the ppi. You can even go OLED for around the same price, and get true HDR (and then some.)
"Is it dumb?" - For some people who aren't into gaming or not into computers, most of them will probably think so. "Is it dank?" - For hardcore gaming? Video editing and Programming? Hell yes.
You would have to have a HUGE desk or three.. My desk is 72 inch long to hold this beast and the left and right YU6 speakers.. and for the price of three .. plus the desk and such you could invest in a true wrap around sim pit www.simpit.co.nz/ with a couple gaming projectors.
I have owned this monitor since December 2017. I bought it for around $970 through Amazon Warehouse deals to use with a Windows machine thinking it would improve my workflow as a remote blockchain / software / web developer. For that purpose, I absolutely love it. I’m torn on what I would improve. I want a slightly increased pixel density, up to 5120x1440, but Windows scaling hasn’t consistently worked with the programs I use. If I mainly used a Mac as my desktop, I’d rather buy LG’s 5K ultrawide, enjoy the HiDPI scaling, and connect over Thunderbolt 3. One of the first things I did was play Skyrim, pairing the monitor with a 1080 GTX Ti. I enjoyed the experience more than using a VR headset, but VR is advancing rapidly and it wasn’t my primary purpose for the monitor. I’ll enjoy gaming every now and then, even if Dragon Ball FighterZ crops the screen. To be most productive with that real estate, I recommend DisplayFusion for Windows or BetterSnapTool/Brackets for Mac. Samsung’s included software didn’t work well. With DisplayFusion, I can toggle between “arrangements” for windows. If I’m focusing on web development, I’ll have Chrome, Inspector, Sublime Text 3, Command Prompt, and Pandora or SoundCloud running. I give each app whatever pixel dimensions I want in DisplayFusion, then the app snaps to fit the space. I can toggle to my own pre-defined arrangements easily, such as a learning arrangement that has spaces for Coursera, Sublime, a file manager, and the command prompt.
Wide screens imo is perfect for work stuff, like you said, software / web development, and if you must write something in a word or excel, and you need some example files and other resource or inspirational stuff to look at, then this is just perfect, even for graphics developer, you can just roll your eyes to right or left just to view whatever you need to get info from and keep doing on the main window in the middle. For gaming imo that's just too wide already, I personally kind of dislike this, never tried it, sitting at my 24 inch 1080p, 144hz BenQ, and when I write diploma/bachelors thesis it is quite hard when I need to look at reference files and quoting or translating stuff from a webpage. But I can only open at best two different windows at the same time on my single monitor. At this sort of work I would like to have wider and a bit higher screen as well than my current one, that would be perfect for it, because then I can get lost into stuff and hard to follow up among many files that I require when closing one file and opening another, back and forth like that. It can get stressful. For graphics designer this is perfect as well, you can still zoom in to draw or shape details, and at such zoom level you see more stuff on your sides than on any other regular monitor, it eases the workflow of whatever practical work you are doing and has a nice way of viewing references or just having simultaneous necessary windows opened for instant information adding or receiving on both projects. But I must add that there is something I see in multiple monitors, the fact that if one breaks out of whatever the reasons, the other can still work, so it has survivability pron to it in such sense, and easier to replace then, while if this breaks...well...it's the whole thing that goes down and your work is done for, so that kind of sucks. In this scenario it would nice if someone could make the same size curved monitor, but from three separate screens, like...it is considered as one monitor, but you can fold it and remove three screens, and each screen doesn't have edges of the monitor holdings, like...edgeless screens/monitor, and that way if one screen goes down, at least you got two other screens, etc. I have always wanted that, whenever I will get multiple monitors, I better get the ones with as thin as possible monitor sides, so that edge to edge screens would look like as if it was a single screen monitor, then you can even game on it without having that dumb black edge in the middle of both screens that divides your screens too obviously and ruins experience.
You look like a fucking tool. I couldn't finish reading your book length humble brag I got distracted by how punchable you are. I can 100% guarantee you've made roofie jokes with your bros.
I use two regular 16:9 monitors and when I didn't I used to have this program called Aquasnap to do the window management. It doesn't like dual monitors so now I use DisplayFusion. Never been happier. Also, don't you mean "GTX 1080ti"?
+222 why the fuck would he get a 16:9 tv over a curved monitor twice as wide? Bigger tvs add nothing to the experience. They are just their to accommodate family members. If you need any decent immersion you need wider screens. Even my 21:9 ultrawide destroys my 55 inch tv for gaming. I can only imagine how good 32:9 will be.
SAMSUNG have already done it (back in 2018 if memory serves me right) and it makes the one Linus has reviewed look like its baby brother/sister. Say hello to the TEN FOOT WIDE (10 feet) MODULAR TV aka, THE WALL. This idea is not new as various companies' have been working to develop it for many, many, many years. A close idea you can get of it are the screens you see at the concerts you go to (they took a long time to develop those, even though the idea had been thought of many years beforehand). The Samsung idea will be okay for business uses -IMHO- but with the gaming use at home will be much, MUCH better with Virtual Reality home technology! If you want to see the Modular TV Samsung Wall, then take a peek at the video, 'Turn An Entire Wall Into A TV Display' by Futurism at... ua-cam.com/video/kL3SfWqT_mU/v-deo.html
For coding this monitor is great. Using it at work and basically I can't go back to my home desktop so I gotta get one for myself. Being able to run 3-4 different windows is priceless. If it's decent for gaming that's a bonus.
it is 2x 16:9 but has a huge advantage over triples. Hardcore triple user might say you get used to it, but having no bezels in the primary range, is huge benefit. Fact
Just bought this for 800 (lil birthday present to myself 🤗). Was a tough pill to swallow, but I’ve found myself playing a lot of games I stopped playing when I had my 27” (Minecraft, destiny 2, warzone, Cold War) because it DRAMATICALLY changed how I played with the fov
LG quality control is awful and their RMA process is disgusting, bought a curved ultra wide got about 60 dead pixels within 3 months, sent it off twice came back with physical damage and the same issue twice, 5 months later, 30 phone calls and im still waiting on my refund.
-m1- Aw man....I can’t even find higher resolution than 1080 anywhere without paying thousands of dollars. I’m trying to have a tri monitor setup on my desk.
This monitor is very good for multi-task jobs like programming, we can read code documentation, search StackOverflow, chat with friends, work with firebase console, opening emulators, at the same time in this monitor And open IDE in mac's monitor In other words, we won't need to switch between windows or desktops
I just bought the CRG90 (not this reviewed CHG90) Gaming Monitor (it's 4K, HDR) and it's AWESOME!! I'm playing Borderlands 3 and Subnautica Below Zero in full 4k (AMD 2700X, Radeon RX 5700), full screen, and it's BEAUTIFUL. Got it on sale from Amazon before X-mas for $500 off (1/3 off). I debated it for awhile, already had a 27" x3 monitor setup but only in 1080p. 4K makes all the difference in the world! LOVE IT!!
@ Ross, Linus has no common sense he lives right down the road from me and is a huge hillary supporter. Wouldn't be surprised to find out he's a high profile client in the huge pedophiles rings here in Vancouver. 90% of our city sits empty and is own by foreigner buyers who don't even live here and are all tied to human trafficking. He would of been brought into it or seen it at some point and has chosen to kept his mouth shut. Remember all the other channels who tricked people into destroying their PC's all lost their accounts except linus. Always ask why.
I did just buy an ultra-wide 1440p monitor, wasn't really interested in a 1080p panel since I had a 16:10 1920x1200 panel prior to that. As cool as a 32:9 aspect ratio is, I prefer a bit of extra vertical resolution.
I looked at this monitor in a store and I can confirm, the resolution for such a big monitor is far too low. Samsung should have gone for 1440p. I could clearly see the big pixels, even at 0.7m away (my working distance).
I agree completely titaniumslug, only reason I went for an ultrawide was because I wouldn't have liked a 16:9 monitor. I figured a complete change would be better than a minor change lol
Its amazing how much bigger in diagonal inches you have to go with a 16 by 9 to gain any significant height real estate over a 16 by 10. E.G If you go from 24 inch to 28 inch you only gain 1 inch in height. And the monitor in this video is only adds half an inch in height. lol.
If you own an ultra-wide or just very often have many windows next to each other you should use the freeware WindowGrid (or something similar). It does exactly what the name would suggest.
I still say get a large UHD4K monitor and play in a window. Then you basically have 2 of these, on one monitor. (instead of running an aux screen). I've been running triple monitor setups since the early 00's (3840x1024), and 3 over 3 (gaming on 3, 5760x1080) for 5 years now and it's usually more headache than its worth. Game support has been very hit or miss, patches break games that used to work or had user made fixes. It is handy when doing design work, having references or other views on other monitors.
@@VezerloProductions yeah. But it can get a low input lag 55 or 65" for less than .$1000. Another think I've looked at are 3x 100+hz 2560x1440 displays to keep the ultra wide. X1600 works be better but not too many low input lag+affordable option there.
playing on UHD4K monitors? YUK? Have you used this beast yet? I think if you use this beast for 3 months you will never go back to the old school set ups. I've been running triples for almost as long as you and had a double large 4k setup, but this beast is the way to do it. Using this makes you feel professional. I highly recommend if you have the spare loot.

VR is 100x better. So immersive.
VR is still a bit too far from being the way to go for driving games in general but in this specific aspect it's just far more desireable on a mechanical standpoint.
you used counter strike as an example for a bad hud but you can actually change how far the hud is away from the edges and even the size
Maybe that's why? Because the could recreate a bad hud?
i do that
This was Exactly what I needed of information. I was wondering the actual size compared to a person, how it ran, and most importantly, how it could be split up. That setup with a game in the middle, then youtube to the left and streaming at the right is just the thing I need. Thank you for the awesome work and all the information. ^_^

If you got a 5760×1080 wallpaper already, it'll look cut off but it'll work.
Also, aren't 32:9 wallpapers already a thing as are 48:9 wallpapers?
It's just two 1080p displays stuck together. I think dual monitor wallpapers exist
It's half of 4K so you can just use those wallpapers.

Should at LEAST be 1440p.
Yes. I use two 1920x1080's now side by side and feel its a bit too narrow. 3840x1440 would be perfect.
This. I mean, I'd need to liquid-cool two 1080s to run it, but if you're spending that much on a monitor...
To keep the aspect ratio, this would have to be 5120x1440, which is still less than a UHD monitor (3840x2160)
Agreed. Sticking with my dual 3440*1440 monitors for now.

32:9 as opposed to the standard 16:9
Daniel Fisher you did see the examples of this with 3 windows right? I also saw this in another review with 6. Yes it's 32:9, but that is doesn't take into account tech that allows you to break out multiple windows.
What? "but that is doesn't take into account tech that allows you to break out multiple windows" EVERY monitor can do that. Has literally nothing to do with the monitor, that's software.
But didn't want to buy

A 55 inch TV sliced in half
Only twice the ppi if you compare it to a 1080p tv. Compared to a 4k tv sliced in half (which is still half the price, btw) the TV has twice the ppi. You can even go OLED for around the same price, and get true HDR (and then some.)
For twice theprice... monitor industry sucks if it continus like that my next screen will be a TV not a monitor.

blackboards in my college are super ultra wide
Also, don't you mean "GTX 1080ti"?
sadly they suck for art or 3d model stuff
+222 why the fuck would he get a 16:9 tv over a curved monitor twice as wide? Bigger tvs add nothing to the experience. They are just their to accommodate family members. If you need any decent immersion you need wider screens. Even my 21:9 ultrawide destroys my 55 inch tv for gaming. I can only imagine how good 32:9 will be.
LG: we gotta do better than samsung we need a whole WALL oh we accidently made a cinema..

I did just buy an ultra-wide 1440p monitor, wasn't really interested in a 1080p panel since I had a 16:10 1920x1200 panel prior to that. As cool as a 32:9 aspect ratio is, I prefer a bit of extra vertical resolution.
Super-ultra-wide 1440p, 144hz freesync... Future will be nice :)
16 by 10 is the best. Height gives way more productivity in normal everyday use. It annoys me it isn't more popular.
And the monitor in this video is only adds half an inch in height. lol.
You do know CSGO does support moving the HUD, it's right there in video options....

No. It's not. 80 ppi. 3***x1080. 1080p = not 4k.

Unfortunately then unless you spend an enormous amount of money you won't have the high refresh rate, which is a turn off for many people.
@@VezerloProductions yeah. But it can get a low input lag 55 or 65" for less than .$1000.
Another think I've looked at are 3x 100+hz 2560x1440 displays to keep the ultra wide. X1600 works be better but not too many low input lag+affordable option there.
hi, do you recommend some software to split screens? thanks.
playing on UHD4K monitors? YUK? Have you used this beast yet? I think if you use this beast for 3 months you will never go back to the old school set ups.

I highly recommend if you have the spare loot.
