A boogie stretch that far up the neck (F#) is really, really hard for me with my small hands, even leaning into it. I address this two ways 1) I have short scale guitars, including my homemade guitar with a 24" scale Jaguar neck and my Peavey T-15s with 23.5" scale, and/or 2) I simply tune the guitar to Open E tuning and the difficulty factor entirely disappears, it becomes trivial. Keith Richards learned this in 1968, he started out with Open E and Open D then simplified with Open G and the "Greatest Rock 'n Roll Band in the World" was born. If you don't have a short scale guitar, just tune down one or two steps and capo up accordingly--instant short scale guitar! Why suffer when you don't have to just because most guitars are designed for people with big hands!
Thanks. Yes, it's a Fender American Deluxe, from about 4 years ago; it has been modified with two "Big T" pickups, which were designed by Jim Weider and Mike Piera (Analog Mike of Analog Man). They're sweet!
You are nothing if not persistent! Ha Ha! I have been driven by requests on my other site lately, but I promise you, it will be done before the thaw set in!
Hi John, Thanks for the great lesson. Not many people know this but Dave played the slide on this record but Micky Gee played the straight lead guitar. ua-cam.com/channels/lRPkv98gockZlRu8uwCJMg.html
